Did you order the new iPhone?

thanks, snowball! testing it now

IxnayBob- Interesting! The males in our family have Samsung Galaxy phones, and the females, iPhones; we have never had a problem with group messaging or any text for that matter.

jym, hope that works for you!

snowball :frowning: no luck

@snowball, my daughter had been an iPhone user and switched, so we had iMessaged for a long time before she switched. It wasn’t even groups that were the problem; it would try to iMessage and then sometimes try to text after a while and other times just declare defeat. I removed/added her as a contact, an apple genius removed her from a number of places, and it still didn’t work. Then, a week after my last Genius Bar visit, it started working and has ever since. We have since referred to it as the Hotel California syndrome: you can check-out any time you like but you can never leave.

I am ot the only one with this problem http://www.idigitaltimes.com/ios-8-imessage-problems-fix-group-chat-not-working-messages-sending-texts-phone-number-greyed-out</a> Foir now am turning off imessaging. What difference does it make if it goes imessage or sms anyway? We are on a family plan.

^It was extremely useful when my kid was abroad, free texting.

Good thought, but their international travel right now is moderate.

I agree. i don’t think there’s much need for iMessage if you don’t text internationally. One minor convenience is it shows if they got your message and also when they are replying back.

Don’t nuke your phone (what, you mean that wave technology isn’t for real?) , don’t sit on your phone (mom, I found Gumby!)…

Along with these precautions in the news, I’m thinking it would probably be better not to try dropping the thing from the top of the Empire State Building.

Well, coworker told me to update to iOS 8, I didn’t. I found this link today.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-pulls-ios-version-causes-183850807.html</a></p>

I updated my iPad mini to iOS 8, and have had a number of problems, and it appears that many others have as well. I wouldn’t recommend that anybody update any device to 8 for a while.

So I’ve been having problem finding nice purse to contain the iPhone 6 plus size. I’ve found a few that contains iPad but not iPhone 6 Plus. I like this luxurious brand because I have purchased a purse and it’s not deteriorate after more than 10 years of using or abusing it. But I have a hard time finding similar quality even with the same brand.

A good bag should last more than ten years, but do you want a bag with a dedicated pocket for your phone, or just one that is large enough to hold it?

Dr. Google, that article is talking about iOS 8.0.1 that was released today, not iOS 8.0. They’ve pulled 8.0.1 because it caused loss of cellular service.

I updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.0 the first day it was available and the only issue I’ve had is with the battery not lasting as long. I expect there will be a fix for that soon.

emerald, yes to hold the phone, but not all good bags last 10 years. I’ve had 2 that things were not holding well after the first year. Even for this bag the phone pocket didn’t even tear.

patsmom, good catch. I’m still not updating anything, Apple is telling me to update to something. I’m not doing it.

I haven’t looked for the glitch fixes yet on the new phone. So I have whatever it came installed with. So far I still cant group text to include my droid-user son. I tried disabling imessaging and then DH couldnt text me.

My dad finally picked up his new toy yesterday. Today’s conversation:

Dad: I hope you did not spend too much on that Plus thing. Looks nicer than before but it does not work well.
Me: Why? Did you activate it and let it do its thing?
Dad: Yes, and I did everything your sister told me to do. Wasted two hours last night and two this morning
Me: What is wrong with it
Dad: I cannot hear anything people say. The home button is horrible … worse than before. And the screen is awful and not responsive. I have had it with Apple. I am giving it to your mom. She might like it. But then it is rather big
Me: Humm, have you increased the brightness and upper the volume.
Dad: Of course, I am not that dumb
Me: I cannot think about anything. Did you buy a case for it?
Dad: No – did not touch it in case I can return it. It took it out of box and done nothing to it.
Me: Nothing? Did you unwrap the plastic?
Dad: What plastic?
silence
Dad: Oh THAT plastic? Do not tell your mom! Bye!

As others hinted in the links you posted before, this has been an issuet that has plagued others before you. Do NOT expect a magical solution from Apple as they are dealing with such cases as they always do? Ignore it long enough and people will give up. The registration system that governs the various phones is incredibly capricious and stupid to its core. One could expect the Idevices to have a simple “All is good here” but that is not the case.

Here is your best bet. Have everyone in your group deactivate iMessages AND Facetime, have all network reset, and start fresh. Make sure that ALL iMessages have been deleted. In the chain, there is something that did get stuck and is derailing the current group. Fwiw, when that happens you can also expect a fast draining battery as the phone is trying to resent or dowload a stuck message over and over again.

There is really not much to lose to go through those steps, but remember the problem might be with another phone than yours. As usual, it will be trial and errors. The biggest annoyance remaining to hear “That should not happen with Apple. You must have done something wrong”

And the saga continues! :)

Does it matter what color one orders when a case is going to cover it anyway? I was going to get a Galaxy this evening and the Verizon guys both suggested the iPhone 6.
