Notrichenough, nice series of maps…fascinating ;)

I got my walks in yesterday by dropping a car off at the tire place, walking home, and then walking back to pick it up at noon. Two mile round trip. Then a walk in the evening with H & S, so another 2 miles.

AND we took the Trikke out to a parking lot (ok, it was the parking lot of the ice cream store, but still, it got DH off the couch). He thinks it’s “fun” which he certainly didn’t think about the exercise bike or any other piece of equipment.
It works both upper and lower body without harming back or knees so he’s happy about that.

Commercials seen on tonight’s Tour de France coverage:

chocolate milk - the ideal post-workout recovery drink, science-supported

Jelly Belly sport beans - added electolytes and vitamins make jelly beans “serious sports nutrition”

Golden Corral endless buffet restaurants - all you can eat! Now with wings and fried catfish.

Pringles

beer

pizza

magnesium supplements

$10,000 road bikes and $3000 exercise bikes

The demographics of this must be very unusual.

If Crowie Alexander drinks it, I’m ALL IN! (Chocolate milk).
Never mind that he burns about a gazillion more calories than I do in a day!

Did a 3 mile walk in the Poconos this morning with a few jogging breaks. Lots of deer. Then I got to drive for 6 hours or so across the state and am now in a less than desirable town in WV. I did find the city park where I can walk in the morning. This hotel is not at all in a walkable/runnable area, and I don’t say that very often.

And the glamour of business travel- dinner was a yogurt, piece of cheese and a banana from the Sheetz convenience store. I just wasn’t hungry after the Two Guys lunch H and I had before I dropped him at the Pittsburgh airport. I am so tired of the big meals. So, instead of going to the nicest place in town tonight- Bob Evans- I went to Sheetz. I’m perfectly happy and will add the savings to what I offer the other side in my mediation tomorrow!

Yeah, but Sheetz is one heck of a convenience store! ;)

It really is, abasket! I think I’m partial to WaWa, but Sheetz was excellent.

Never been in a Sheetz, but WaWa is awesome. I wish we had them up here.

My exercise tonight - stuffing the yard waste bin with dead plant matter and then wrestling said bin down the long and winding road
Not much, but it took me a while, so it is too late to do anything else meaningful now.

Oh, MOfWC, the lovely business trip dinners! It is either feast or famine for me, too. :)

My exercise: acting like a young fool for a general admission concert.

In line on the sidewalk at 6 pm. Doors open at 7. A spot literally on the stage barrier, to stand for nearly two hours until the show started at 8:50 Literally 12 feet directly in front of [Ryan Adams](<a href=“Ryan Adams - Oh My Sweet Carolina (Live on Letterman) - YouTube”>Ryan Adams - Oh My Sweet Carolina (Live on Letterman) - YouTube). It was 100 degrees in the place. Full band, rock show. Or as Ryan Adams described it, “Llike King Crimson, only more fushia…”

Loud, loud, loud. Hot, hot, hot. I never could have stood there for nearly 5 hours a few years ago…

I am still trying to put together the linguistic concept of grabbing dinner at the Sheetz…
forgive my cheech and chong flashback…

Nice swimming weather here lately…of course, since I swim in the a.m. and work all day, its not like it makes a difference. I’m ready for a staycation. One hat involves my lonely bike and kayak…

IDad- you are have your age!
KMC- LOL.
The hotel fitness room was subpar. Clearly not one of the updated ones. I bailed on going to the park. 1 mile on an old dreadmill. Needed a rest day anyway. It’s going to be a long day.

iDad is hip to the youth culture. One of D’s favorite artists.

Humidity is killing me here. Ran Monday. Ran Tuesday and did a workout using a Bosu and body bar, which was tough but fun. I could actually do pushups with my feet on the Bosu, so all is not lost. Headed off to a “core” workout class this morning.

I had a follow up with my doc on Monday; evidently I have an “interesting” cholesterol profile. I’m on mega doses of Vitamin D for the next 8 weeks (1 pill a week) and when that’s retested I’m having additional tests related to the cholesterol (I think) - apolipoprotein B, C-reactive protein (cardiac), homocysteine and lipoprotein (a). Say that three times fast.

First time (and only time) I was ever in a Sheetz, was i in my S’s college town. BEST PUBLIC BATHROOMS EVER! Luxurious!!! I learned to never use the bathroom in his dorm/apt - just stopped at Sheetz for a potty break and hot drink on my way out of town!

Workout yesterday–new trainer is obsessed with balance–mine. We spent 20+ minutes on balance exercises–mostly doing work on the bosu ball–squats with no weights, squats with a kettle bell, squats with front arm raises, and then side arm raises. Also did planks on a mat and more with feet on the bosu ball. Finished with core exercises and dead lifts. Did a 2 mile walk on the beach.

Started today with Yin yoga. Plan to do an in/out trail that goes to the ocean later this afternoon,

MOWC–my youngest child would do dinner at Sheetz in a heartbeat. My H grew up in a small steel town in PA and there is a Sheetz nearby; it was the highlight of many trips to see Grandma for my youngest.

The apolipoprotein B (apoB) test is essentially the same thing as the LDL particle count NMR test I get. Each VLDL and LDL particle has one apoB particle, so if you count the number of apoB particles, you are counting the number of VLDL and LDL particles Since VLDL particles quickly turn into LDL particles (within hours), more than 90% of the apoBs are LDL particles. So you’ll get a good handle on the number LDL particles. If I recall (without looking back), you had very low triglycerides, high HDL, and borderline elevated LDL? If so, your LDL particle count (apoB) should be low. You sound like you have a good doctor!

My D is so jealous. We both love Ryan Adams. I flew down to DC to see him with her on his last tour. This was my fourth time seeing him.

I think I actually “discovered” him first, from his guest shot on a fantastic Cowboy Junkies DVD in 2007:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bY_3nO_wl1E

That prompted me to buy a bunch of his albums. At the time, he was allowing soundboard recordings of all his shows to be posted on the Live Music Archive – a lot of terrific shows.

Hey, I’m in this video from last night. You can see the back of my bald head and the reflection in my glasses, just to the right of the bass drum!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5NtxoP2_TA

First of all, thanks for the translation of what all those tests are!

I think I really lucked out. Each visit has been an hour with a lot of discussion on health related topics - why fat isn’t bad, why sugar is the devil, review of lab results other than “your labs are fine”–really talking about what they mean.

He immediately told me total cholesterol was meaningless. He also told me my profile was pretty unusual, but attributed the very low triglycerides (53) to exercise. He’s a believer that labs should only measure HDL as > 40, instead of using a range of 40 to 60 (as mine did) - which meant my HDL (109) was flagged as high. He did not think that was an issue. My LDL was 123, which qualified as “acceptable”. Given some coronary heart disease issues and genetic high cholesterol in my family, he felt further testing was in order.

Went to the fitness clinic with 5 other women - I got to demo the advanced exercises! So we did a lot of basic stuff and then he’d say, “If you want to do something more challenging…” --I felt great! I am also very happy that I can now do ten good pushups. The real kind. Yay!

Good job on the push-ups. Your doctor is definitely a keeper!

Blowing my party horn for Sabaray!!! Sounds like you have a doc who does promote wellness and education!!!

I am not a huge fan of pharmaceuticals for everything imaginable, so I feel very fortunate to have found him to work with. I would go celebrate my push up feat with dinner at Sheetz, but fear that would be violating my rule against “drive up” meals. I was truly shocked that I could do them.

Bromfield, I love working with the Bosu. Today we did a lot of the exercises you described using a medicine ball and dumbbells. Tough, but fun. I never thought I’d be combining medicine ball, dumbbells and fun all in one sentence.
