Isn’t that crazy! I was just explaining this event to my daughter - boggles my mind!

Omg–7:06 pace. Crazy! I’m in awe! What an accomplished young woman.

idad–you put that canopy up in under 4 minutes. Not bad, lol. Seriously, it looks like it was a pain but worth it in the end.

abasket–yay for 5K!

Unreal!

16 miles to go!

I just watched the live finish for the men and women pro racers … So amazing.

I am also stalking Em 2141 … She has all of us behind her. Cheers to strong and healthy women!

P.s. My exercise today was 14,000 steps shopping in Old Montreal with delicious crepes for lunch. Can’t complain.

Weird - I’m also tracking my fav athlete, Apolo Ohno in Kona - he and Em are not far from each other on the map!

14,000 steps - wow, that is epic shopping!
I think I should wear a fitbit or something like that to prove to Mr B that shopping is exercise! He thinks it only leads to slimmer wallets, not slimmer waistlines. :D

Less than 10 miles to go! Go Em!!! Averaging 7:30-7:40 pace for her Ironman run leg. Wow. Just wow.

Thanks so much everyone. This event is just unbelievable. I have some great pictures of Emily. She is a beast on the run. This is her first marathon- as it was my son’s last year.

The female winner, Mirinda Carfrae, was down 10 minutes starting the run.

I can not believe what I read! Mirinda ran a 2:50 marathon. That is just a few minutes over Olympic trials B Q time. Holy …

Go Em!!!

I can’t believe that someone can maintain an under 8 for 26 freakin miles!!!

How does one “cool” down after an event like this? Seriously, what is recommended at the finish line in terms of movement, intake, etc.???

“I can’t believe that someone can maintain an under 8 for 26 freakin miles!!!”

Yup - after swimming for a freakin hour and biking for 5+ freakin hours!!!

There was no specific moment of pain or injury. In fact the pain, now, and even during any of my walks was very minimal if that. It’s just that I always feel something in my knee, and I don’t have the same “solid” and “in-control” feeling about the left knee that I take for granted in my good knee.

kmcmom, hate to sound so dumb - but what do you mean when you say I should get my shoe fitted? I typically go to a shoe store, ask for the size 10 Wide New Balance and that’s it.

To the others - thanks for your advice. I will go have it checked out by a professional.

Got back from a neighborhood gathering that just stunk ( I’ll come back tomorrow, I’m really mad now. Neighbor passed out and wouldn’t go to the hospital. Never mind me lol!)

She’s still running. I can’t imagine! Looks like it’s almost over. She’s been racing for 10 hours now. Unimaginable! Go Em! Looks like her splits are 7:30’s. Holy cow! 10 hours! Racing!

My athlete tracker isn’t updating! She should be done, I think.

I just saw Emily S cross the finish line. One clock said 10:20 and the other 10:30, so I am not sure what one is hers. She is small but strong.

Congrats, Em! Amazing!

Fabulous news!! 10:30! Congrats Emily and MOWC!

Thanks for the update. Apolo Ohno went sub 10! Crazy!

MOWC, you will have to tell us the times. The tracker stopped after her 22nd mile in the marathon, and it looks like the website is updating just now for those that finished in 10 hours and 1 minute.

Also, like Abasket, I want to know what they do to recover and rehydrate after a race like this. Incredible.
