Those cross winds must have been intense! The anomaly with tri bikes that are designed to be aero is that while they substantially cut your wind resistance moving forward, the inherent nature of the tube and wheel profiles make them so susceptible to windage.

Oh, wow!!! Even when driving on that road one can feel the wind! More congrats to Em. She is amazing.

MNK, congrats to your son. Stepping in where the team needed help is even more commendable than winning! :)

The first of two fall foliage hike videos:

[Frankenstein Cliff and Arethusa Falls](<a href=“Frankenstein Cliff and Arethusa Falls - YouTube”>Frankenstein Cliff and Arethusa Falls - YouTube)

The hike to Arethusa Falls is one of the most popular day hikes in the White Mountains. I try to do it once a year. This is the extended version, about a six mile loop up a steep climb to the Frankenstein Cliff (zoom to the top of the cliff from the parking lot early in the video), then a fairly rough up and down stretch down to Arethusa Falls. Then, back along the tourist trail.

I got a good look at the Frankenstein Trestle – a long train bridge on the tracks that wind through Crawford Notch (now used only for tourist excursion trains. And, the falls and trail are always interesting people watching. Lots of people experiencing NH hiking for the first time. Many completely overdressed, like jeans and gold embroidered sweaters, etc. I’m came around a bend to see a middle-aged guy standing in the trail shouting – it turns out, to his wife who was lagging back down the trail out of sight: “come on, it’s flat now, you can do it…” She came into sight, laboring up the trail. Hah, the mirage of a flat section of trail in the White Mountains and guidebook rating of “easy”. Easy is relative. I didn’t have the heart to tell them they were less than halfway to the falls and the trail kept going up.

I was inspired watching the Kona Ironman, so my hips and legs did some great hiking today … All the way to the top of Mt. Mansfield, or 18,188 steps and 299 floors. I think I am finally on the other side of this hip injury.

Sounds like some great hiking. Loved the foliage in the video - glad you could get out there and enjoy it.

Snowflake, glad your hip is feeling better!

Pilates mat class this afternoon, then some time in the whirlpool which felt really good.

That looks like a very challenging hike! Awesome!

My exercise today was hours of painting, wallpaper border removing and more painting and cleaning up. Good arm workout??

My cousin finished the Chicago marathon in 4:15- averaged a 9:30 mile - she’s 57. Can’t wait to talk to her later in the week- not sure if this was her first marathon or not.

Painting is a good workout as long as you can celebrate with a glass of wine at the end. Glad your cousin finished Chicago, and with a respectable time, too!

IDad, yes, it was challenging at times but I only had to carry a day pack; looks like you had some nice hikes, too. When we got done at 2pm, we’d also saw why the trails seemed a bit more crowded than usual, especially in the lower easy section. Hundreds of cars, many from Canada likely celebrating their 3-day weekend and Canadian Thanksgiving.

Taking a 6 week intermediate swim class starting tonight. Perhaps I can improve on my kick boarding skills to move forward instead of backward.

I had a friend do the Cgo marathon this weekend–she was just over bronchitis but posted a personal record! And another young friend did her first half marathon. So proud of these people.

Meanwhile, all I do is little dumbbell exercises, leg lifts, and walking. But the walking is so nice this time of year. Yesterday DH and I walked extensively through a really interesting neighborhood where we used to live when we were MUCH younger. It’s hillier than I remembered! We used to push a stroller up & down these hills without thought! I do really like terrain walking though–so good for you.

Foliage Hike #2. This one from last Thursday. Cool and breezy, had to go to a light windbreaker and gloves for the part of the hike exposed to the wind. Gorgeous foliage!

Speaking of faceplants, I took a tumble on this hike. Easy terrain headed downhill, Not sure what happened. Didn’t roll my ankle. The trail was covered in leaves, so I might have tripped on a root. Soft landing in soft dirt. No harm, no foul.

^^^^awww, sorry. Glad you’re okay!

Phew, disaster averted! :)

Will try to go for a short run tonight. But I need to get home first.

I’ve been doing a lot of yard work.
So many leaves.
I didn’t do a face plant but I tripped over some of the brush I was cutting up & landed full force on my new knee.
Might be a good idea to wear knee pads.

Glad you had a soft landing, iDad. I didn’t run today and a, now enduring the horrific travel home. About to get to LA and then 2 more flights.

Hope you made it home, MOWC, particularly with all the horrible weather yesterday.

This morning at 5:15 am it was already 66 degrees and 95% humidity - oh yeah, and a strong wind. My legs felt like lead. Today called for 4 to 6 and I did a little over 5. That’s going to have to do it for today.

^^^well, with that wind you probably did the equivalent of 6.

Sabaray- you are doing great! Proud of you.
Taking off from Houston on the last flight before HOME. Unfortunately, I have an early am flight tomorrow to Charlotte. I’m glad I’m not streaking anymore. Slept a couple of hours on LA to Houston flight. Walked some steps in LA airport.

Cheers to soft landings, iDad. My quads are sore today from my Sunday hike.

@Momannoyed, that’s great! You’re doing more than a lot of folks who are still warming their couches.
