Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Congrats on the self-torture PG!!! Hey you put forth effort with your 5k and Fusion class to ward off some of those carbs.

I am ready to “clean” eat this week. Don’t want to look at another bakery sweet, potato or colorless carb!!! For a few days anyway!

Warm here too today- lower 60’s. Was suppose to rain but when it didn’t, completed some minor heroics and managed to get the massive real tree from Costco (over 9 foot!) up and decorated with the kiddos, filled all the window boxes with pine boughs, put out decorations/lights in the front yard and back (corner double lot - yippee, more guilt to decorate both sides!!!) and then managed to get in a 30 minute run - was tired, but was NOT going to let a 60 degree day pass without running unbundled!!!

My good buy of the weekend - a gorgeous gray sweater from our Lulu “showroom” - for 1/2 price! Unfortunately it’s a gift for my 17 year old daughter and not me!

MOfWC, please no heroics! :)

Kudos to all who exercised their bodies and/or willpower this holiday weekend! Today was my mall walking day. Went to an outdoor outlet center with a friend and powerwalked the entire mall. Unfortunately, I did not have any time to drive a bit further to check the Lulu outlet.

Worked with trainer on Friday and did a Yin Yoga class today. Went overboard with carbs for the last four day . Back on track on Monday. Don’t know if any likes Lucy workout wear–everything is 30% off online.
http://www.lucy.com I have a few pairs of the Lucy yoga pants and a couple of tops–like them a lot.

It was 54 degrees at 5 am on December 1. Way, way too warm. 4.3 miles in for the day. I am hoping to get to a Barre class after work.

I like that Lulu pullover - how snug is it in the hips?

Slug city for me the past three days. Looks like I’m taking 2 less vitamins now
<a href=“Why Antioxidants Don't Belong in Your Workout - The New York Times”>http://mobile.nytimes.com/blogs/well/2014/11/26/why-antioxidants-dont-belong-in-your-workout/</a></p>

The Lulu puff is fairly snug in the hips and fits a little strange on a lot of people according to the online reviews. I got the size 6 and it will work with a thin layer underneath but not much else. I like to wear the Lulu Swiftly long sleeved tops under the puffs. The puff does have two zippers up the front and they open in both directions. You can free up your hips or your chest! I don’t think this was one of their best designs, but in pretty pink for $99…

3.6 miles before we leave to fly back home. Didn’t enjoy the climb back up the hill to the hotel. Feel like a stuffed pig.

4.75 mile run/walk on the treadmill. Today’s (virtual) trails were in Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. In the “you learn something new every day” category – “hoodoos” are the tall thin rock spires that protrude from the bottom of arid basins. They are more common in Bryce Canyon National Park than anywhere else in the world.

Most of the Lulu stuff ends up being too big up top and too tight on the hips - same problem with Marmot. I don’t think a 6 would work and all that’s left is a 12 (completely out of 8 and 10), which I know would be too big, sadly. No pink either. I guess I’m just going to have to wait for something I really want. I’d really like a new vest to wear as I’m getting way too warm while running - today I had on a tank under my dri-fit and was still way too warm!

Didn’t do much “exercising” what with all the kids visiting, but we did take some good walks. Yesterday’s was to the local pizza place a mile away…

Back in the saddle. Ran a little yesterday (two miles—a very little) but then stood and worked at a Xmas philanthropy for three hours. Good karma if not good exercise.

Today trainer, a little running, a little ellipticalling, a spin class. When I say “a little” I mean about ten minutes of each. My hip was off after all the holiday sitting, so I had to coax it back to normal.

My daughter and I ran, and my husband walked, the local 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving. Then the next four days was a festival of carbs with little opportunity to exercise. Gained a couple pounds. Just ran 4 miles – in shorts! This weather is nuts, from freezing to warm then back to freezing soon.

CBBBlinker, I visited both Bryce and Zion in October, along with several others. Each one has a special name for its rock formations – hoodoos in Bryce, needles in Canyonlands and fins in Arches.

Just bought a pair of Lucy leggings for full price, but I’ve worn them already (in the above mentioned 5K). I don’t know why I even bother to buy anything before Black Friday and CyberMonday. Liked them – so maybe I’ll get another pair!

For those of you Lucy fans, they have some stuff on 6pm.com - I noticed these leggings earlier - and there is an extra 20% off code today…

Oh Thanksgiving calorie stream that never ends, please end soon. I made a turkey soup with garden collards and barley last night; curried turkey salad today, and still more turkey remains in the refrigerator. And pie. Pumpkin pie.

Over the long weekend I’ve taken some long walks with DH, run, hiked, and jogged. I spent a lovely day yesterday out on an Atlantic coast estuary taking photos but walking a little along the way. Now to the gym where I need some weight bearing exercise that goes beyond hefting food in and out of the refrigerator.

Amen. My daughter is here. And, my computer room doubles as my guest room so I can’t even get to the computer. I have, however, eaten the best BBQ I’ve ever made and sat on my butt for 3 hours watching Interstellar at the super-duper IMAX this afternoon.

3.5 miles and some core. That’s all I had time for today.

Well, after my TG debauch and guests, I’d promised myself a trek up the hill yesterday morning but something possessed me to spend the time booking a cruise instead
So this morning is my do-over start date!

Question for the lulu fans. I see the fluffed up pullover on line but they only have black and ink in stock. I really like it in the pink but the other colors not so much. Can you call stores and if they have it, will they ship? Do they ship for free from the stores?

Still not sure if I should buy it even if I can find a pink. I’ve spent a lot lately but this looks really nice for winter.

Walked or ran every day while out of town for thanksgiving. Sunday was especially nice, I ran at 7:30 am and it was 45 degrees out. It was heavenly. Only gained 1.5 pounds but since my weight goes up and down, I really never know.

I bought XC skis during our cold snap. Looking forward to using if we get some snow, it all melted! Signed up for a 10k with my SIL and H for Memorial Day weekend. Will do an 8k in March and that is all on my schedule. Wanted to run a 5k this weekend but it was $40 and didn’t want to pay that much for a local race that I would have to run by myself.

I am actually thinking of getting the Fluff Off pullover now - every time I go to the website I see something else I want. Deb, my store is an hour away - if I call them they will tell me if they have something and will hold it for a reasonable period. If they have the pink one I’m going to go and try it on- since it’s final sale I’m not willing to risk a poor fit. I’m going to pay H back for denying me that second pair of shoes.

The scale is not my friend right now.

KMC, where are you cruising? I hope you booked us all cabins (if it’s warm, that is).

Just a 7-day western Caribbean…I need something to look forward to if its going to be another hard winter. Plus may be it will motivate me to get more fully back on the wagon…gave away all my “fatter” swim suits and will be damned if I’ll buy another when I have about six floating around here already ;)
