I think I might have passed someone going the opposite direction at the park today who recognized me from CC. If so, Hi!
I don’t know why you couldn’t just bake the innards of the quiche without the crust…
I have these on my Pinterest but haven’t made them yet:

I have eaten these and they were decent:

And…this is DELICIOUS!!!

Oooh, those look yummy.
abasket- #3 looks delicious
Isn’t that just an omelette?
I’m still kicking. Just busy with stuff after Christmas and fighting to recover and get back in the swing of things. The good news: the scale is heading back in the right direction. I think my blood sugar finally dropped. I not hungry for a snack 24/7. I really do think junk food begats junk food!
We have had miserable weather for doing anything outside. Need some winter and snow, not sleet and freezing rain. Now, it’s headed down to 5 degrees tonight. Kettlebell circuit in a very chilly basement!
I bet you were worried I pulled a Harry Reid, huh:

Yikes. Geezer exercise can be rough. He fought a losing battle with an exercise band, for sure!
MOWC:
No Wild for me. I read the book (sort of). And, I don’t think I can handle the movie. I liked the hiking bit of the book, but found myself skipping feverishly ahead whenever she started in about her mother (again) or heroin (again).
nrdbs:
Ouch. I am so glad your D is OK after a scary car accident.
kmcmom:
No. No. No! I definitely do NOT need anyone to send me for fruitcake!
I’m finally back to my one apple a day for my sweet tooth routine.
Yay, idad! We missed you. Glad to hear things are getting back to normal.
MOfWC, I just opened a self-inflicted spam mail from B&H reporting on the new Vivofit; here it is:
Sounds like a frittata to me. I’ve made several varieties and they’re yummy. Omelettes are quicker, though - I make one every morning for breakfast.
Back in July I postponed Jury Duty since my date to appear was during our week at family camp. H had the bright idea that right after the New Year things would be very slow, so I should request that as my new date since I probably wouldn’t be needed. Even though I had all my fingers and toes crossed when I called the Juror Hotline yesterday, my number didn’t come up – meaning I do, indeed have to show up this morning. And I had totally forgotten this was a Grand Jury summons. If picked, my commitment will be for 3 months!!! I have no idea pif that means all day every day or what, but H is beside himself since we were hoping to go to FL for a couple of weeks. Is the fact that my brother is an attorney here in MA enough to get me excused? Oh well, nothing to be done but show up and hope they don’t need me …
So many fitness trackers out there or coming soon! I’m still waiting for my Amiigo, which I backed almost 2 years ago on Indiegogo. Based on what others are saying on the FB page, my size small should arrive shortly. Apparently there are lots of bugs still to work out, so I’m glad I got it for the backer’s price. If it doesn’t meet my needs I’ll get one with a more proven track record.
I have made bacon/egg cups in a muffin tin - they keep well and can be reheated. I make something similar to this recipe only I replace the bread in the bottom of the tin with bacon cut to fit. They are good and you can customize with your favorite cheese and/or herbs for seasoning.

iDad, glad your New Year’s resolution wasn’t giving up CC. CBB, hope you’re excused from duty!
Snow here this morning, only a dusting so far. Rest day for me today.
Its okay, idad…thought you went on walkabout so just threw the stuff out
I know exactly what you mean about junk increasing appetite. i was feeling cold turkeyish on the junk last night so tricked myslf with chai tea and hot tub soak instead.
We had enough snow to make the hill gorgeous yesterday so I think I can continue my streak of one day
Yippee! Now we have 2 inches of snow on top of the one inch of ice underneath! Ugh. Gotta hate winter!
Agreed that omelets are easier. Sometimes I’ll make a big omelet and then cut it in 3 or 4 pieces and just rewarm it on following days. Just ate the last piece of an omelet I made over the weekend that had onion, pepper, ham, jalapeno and a little cheese. Yummy and filling.
Glad to see you back iDad!!!
Got up at 5:00am to shovel snow. I had my 10K steps in by 8:00am when I stopped shoveling. We always seem to get the bad weather when DH is out of town! I’m working from home today because even though my driveway is nice and pristine, they haven’t plowed the street yet so I can’t get out. I’ll go out later this evening and shovel more in the back to make a better path for the dog and for me to get to the birdfeeders and then I’ll take the dog on a good snow walk.
I got my email this morning about the Fitbit Surge availability and I’m going to order it today. I have a 15% discount from having a Force that I never sent back when they did the recall.
iDad-thanks for the info on Harry Reid. I had not heard the detail of how he got the injuries - ouch, it sounds painful!
What are the new features on the Surge???
The Surge is almost more of a smart watch. It has built-in GPS, text and call notifications, music control, and the main feature I am after is the built-in heart rate monitor.
Thanks for the link, Bunsen. I may need to upgrade in a few months to the vivofit 2.
Welcome back, iDad. We count on your presence here!
I didn’t sleep well and bailed on my planned outside 4 miler this morning. I got in a “streak for now” mile on the treadmill, and may be able to do a couple more after work- or may not. I’m due for a “rest” day.
Holiday weight gain was surprisingly low- started eating extremely poorly before Thanksgiving and didn’t stop until January 2. Barely gained a pound, which is really a surprise because I really hit the sugar pretty hard. I guess bumping up my mileage to get the 1300 mile goal helped some.
Burpees on the sand. That’s a tough woman’s workout! Glad it was not mine.
B-)
Nice outdoor swim in not too cold weather. Then frantic catching up on stuff neglected over the holidays.
Weights with trainer today–we did something we rarely do–used a few weight machines instead of free weights. Used them for chest press, leg press, row, flys. Planks and squats on TRX. Back to hot yoga tomorrow.
Idad–you’re right about junk food leading to more junk food. I had gone 3 months without bread and didn’t miss it. Then, over the holiday my H made Philadelphia cheese steaks using leftover prime rib from Christmas dinner. Thought I could eat it minus the bread. Wrong–ate the sandwich–bread and all. It set me back on the bread front for the last 10 days. Today was good–I’m back on track.
MOfWC, how did your friend do in her ultra race?
Swam in the ocean. The water was cold, wet, and there were fishes in it!
The plan for the day is to hike up the Diamond Head and to convince Mr B that we need to stop at the shopping center for dinner.
