Ran 7.3 miles today in 3min/1min intervals, sunny & 67 here. I hope the snow stops for you guys! I’m making a trip to REI today. I have to spend my $20.00 coupon that I got when I bought my garmin.
abasket, I have a running dress form Skirt Sport that I love, and a skirt from them that I hate! The shorts under the skirt ride up and are very uncomfortable. I’m thinking about cutting the shorts out and just wearing the skirt over other shorts.
Thanks Blankmind. It’s a dress that I’m looking at - and I’m looking at it for general wear in the summer, traveling, etc. as opposed to actually exercising in it.
abasket, I’ve never actually run in my running dress! I wear it a lot in the summer.
I used to order a lot form SkirtSports before I discovered Lulu. I still like SkirtSports and had good luck with many of the skirts. The dresses are great for summer. My skirts had the briefs and not the shorts, although I had a couple with the shorts.
Filled a large yard waste container with branches and leaves. Phew! 55 degrees outside! I could hear frogs singing in the distance… Crocuses are beginning to bloom. I feel so gulity to enjoy this spring weather in February while some of my CC friends have to dig out their walkways and cars after yet another snow dump.
4 miles in the Hokas. They should be broken in for the next run
I really like the laces on the Launch 2. And have I alteady said that these shoes are gorgeous?
4.7 miles up on the mountain near Sewanee this morning. 45 degrees. 33.6 mile week.
Bunsen- the Launch 2 might be the prettiest shoe ever.
I love Skirt Sports skirts. I have several of them. They have two pockets in the shorts part that fits my phone, an iPod, money, etc. I have some for running, a padded one for biking and one for just casual wear. No problem with the shorts creeping up. I like that they come in various lengths, since I don’t like really really short things.
Ahh- I forgot! When I was cycling (outside) a lot during the 2010-11 injury, I wore the SkirtSports cycling skirts and loved them. SO cute!
3.1 outside miles- 55 degrees (shocking) and cloudy/gloomy. I haven’t run in side since early Fri morning!
First shoveling workout of the day. I’ve stopped measuring the snow, but there is a ton of new snow. Fortunately, it’s light and fluffy. The downside of that is that it is 13 degrees with a steady 15 mph wind. Lots of snow in the face. Brrr…
Got the car backed up and shovelled off. Cleared the steps, but couldn’t do the rest of the deck because the snow is now too deep to back the car up again (I shovel the deck onto the hood and back up to dump it where the plow can get it.) No worry, it’s supposed to snow all day, so I’ll be back out for round two.
Sending regrets iDad…
Feel for you, iDad.
Took a look at my feet after a cardio class + run today. Ugly!!! The bottom of them in addition to being dry from winter are a little calloused, and bumpy, lumpy and yucky!!!
Wondering what those of you who use your feet a lot for running, walking, biking etc. do as a regular routine for foot care if anything? Mine need some intervention!
You mean we are supposed to do something with out feet other than popping bloody blisters and applying bandaids?
Just kidding.
Good question, actually. I bought a thingy at Costco that can be used to sand off those layers of dead skin. It is actually pretty impressive that it works so well:

I also apply Aveeno moisturizer to my feet every evening before I go to bed and after showering, and I think it helps to keep them from drying out completely.
My feet don’t get too bad, surprisingly. I get a pedicure about once a month in the summer and maybe every 2 months in the winter. That helps. H’s feet get extremely dry and nasty. I have to shave back a couple of callouses on my left foot every few weeks.
I went to hot yoga at lunch. I did OK, but it’s just not really working for me to go at lunch. It takes too long and it’s almost impossible to get back into my work clothes in that small, humid locker room. I just can’t stop sweating. As I’ve said, there is a lot of good in it, but also some things I question- like the 105 degrees. I try to stay focused on the class and keep my mind on what I’m doing (a good mental exercise) instead of on how I may never come back again!
That’s an interesting little device BB - battery operated but still “powerful”???
I do use Aveeno daily - but have to admit don’t know that I’ve put it on my feet on a regular basis!
I came home and gave myself a mini pedi myself. Soaked, used a foot “file” type thingy for some of the dead skin (TMI, I know!) and then used a mint foot cream I have - even took the time to paint my toes which I don’t tend to keep up in the winter!
I have never heard of shaving back callouses - I’ll have to look that up - I could probably benefit from something like that.
I always look at all of us at the fitness center at work that go to exercise and then get dressed and back to work - meaning, many don’t shower afterwards. I always have to smile and think, “we may stink, but we’re fit!” Haha. I have mastered the sponge bath to make myself presentable for the afternoon but the non-exercisers at my office comment EVERY TIME - “are you still SWEATING?! Why are your cheeks so ROSY!!!” - that’s what an hour of exercise does to you - duh!! I put my little portable fan on on my desk and chug my water and smirk at them all…
“That’s an interesting little device BB - battery operated but still “powerful”???”
It works pretty well! It is a miniature power sander for the feet.
It takes care of callouses, too. Human skin is softer than wood, so a battery powered device is just fine. It has to be used on dry skin, so I sand, wash my feet, and then apply the moisturizer/lotion.
I paint my toenails before really long runs and then before the races. I know it is an exercise in futility, because not all toenails survive.
Third shovel of the day and it’s still coming down. Never got above 15 degrees today. We have a ridiculous amount of snow, but at least Wednesday looks like a snowshoe opportunity. The problem is that we have so much snow I’m not sure I can even get to some of my spots. Pawtuckaway State Park is at the end of a couple miles of narrow dirt road with parking on the side of the road. I could get in there and never be seen again!
Bunsen- this is funny- are we twins? we spent saturday filling 7 trash cans with weeds/bushes from the yard. then went running in our hokas on sunday.
Thought this was kind of a nifty tool. For anyone who is never quite sure how to dress to head out to exercise check out this guide - I can usually guess pretty close, but I appreciate the categories here to help measure “what to wear”:
