Thanks for posting that, abasket! I think I have seen the site before, but not the app! cool. It is definitely a great tool. It might need some personal calibration; for instance, I run very hot, so what could be tights weather for someone is shorts weather for me.
The reviews for the app are pretty sucky - I was going to download it for fun but think I’ll pass.
The last question on the tool does give you the chance to choose whether you want to run “cool”, “in between” or “warm” - you’d probably choose “cool” BB - um, cause you ARE COOL right??!
No exercise for me during the past several days, except some shoveling! It’s such a mess around here there’s no way I can try to run outside; heck, I can barely walk outside! And H is taking my SUV today since he has a meeting to get to in central Mass, so no gym, either. (His car is parked on the street where it may well stay until some of this stuff melts.)
I’m the opposite of Bunsen. I run cold, so I looked like I’m dressed for skiing and I see people run by in light tech shirts.
Idad, good luck on finding a snowshoe opportunity. I’m not sure if you are aware or even if they have this in your area (although I suspect they will). Here in Michigan they have a website that reports snow conditions for XC skiing, snowshoeing and fat bike trails. People are pretty good at reporting what they find and what the condition of the trails are. I also will go to the facebook page for a state park that I like to go to and they update if you can get there and when the trails have been groomed.
I’m becoming (obsessed) familiar with looking at trail reports and reading in between the lines as to the condition of the various trails. I’ve been going to places that groom everyday as we are getting sporadic snow and I’m not that great at skiing and it’s hard for me to ski on ice. I’ve skiied 5 of the last 7 days.
If you already know this, I’m sorry for all this unneccesary information. I’ve found that this info really helps me.
Thanks. Oh, yeah, I found that resource early on. There’a a master list of New England trail conditions with daily reports. Each state has it’s own web page of trail conditions. Here’s my bible for the White Mountains:

I’m just going to do the Audubon center nearby. I know the parking lot and road in will be clear and I know a trail will be broken. I’m not up for breaking trail in 2 feet of fresh powder!
Just did the first shovel of the day (and hopefully the last for this storm). Just an easy/peasy 3 or 4 inches and then a good clean-up on and around the deck, grill, etc. in prep for the final plow. The snow alongside the parking lot is now piled over my head. The snowbank at the end of the parking lot is above the first floor ceiling (and the first floor is aleady raised three or four feet above ground level. Just insane.
@deb922 , you’re going to have some great looking arms with all that skiing!!!
Tom Brady pictured doing planks, with a little extra weight, today:
Exercise yesterday was shoveling snow drifts off the upstairs decks. Good news about the snow that’s been coming down here in MA is that it is generally light snow. H and I contemplated getting up on the roof yesterday and raking ourselves, but decided against it. The guys who did the roof originally are coming out Thursday.
Worked with my trainer today–only a 30-minute session because she got stuck in the snow and was late. Back to hot yoga tomorrow–haven’t been to class for over a week–class I usually go to was cancelled for the last two weeks because of the snow
My birthday is today–trying not to think about getting close to being a real geezer (turning 63 today). Yikes–how the h*** did I get to be so old!! Going to dinner with H and friends tonight. Haven’t had any white carbs (pasta, rice potatoes) or alcohol since January 1st (down 10 pounds) going to have a glass of red wine tonight.
Whoah. Bromfield gets a birthday party AND two 5-lb parties! Break out the hats and noisemakers!
I’ll jump on the Bromfield party bandwagon! That’s wonderful news! Enjoy the wine!!! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday AND Congratulations to you, Bromfield! I keep telling H that white carbs are my nemesis, but he just keeps saying “all calories are equal.” I know from 28+ years of marriage that he won’t believe me/admit I’m right until someone else tells him the same thing. Whatever. I just keep doing my best to avoid those carbs – although he did get me to make Bolognese sauce with pappardelle during this latest snowstorm. Party on.
Happy Birthday Bromfield and, again, congrats on your successes!
Yay, Bromfield- and super congratulations!
I ran 3.1 this morning and was going to run more after work, but I had a hellofa day and just decided to drink a beer once I got home. I don’t talk much about my job- nor should I on this thread- but it’s like a constant game of Whack-a-Mole. I love it, but boy does it get crazy.
Enjoy that well-deserved wine, Bromfield! Happy Birthday!
Did 5 miles this morning with two friends - feeling more of a need for friendship lately.
Stay safe in the snow everyone - don’t overdo it with the shoveling!
Whack- A-Mole?! Does that count as exercise!!!
Happy Birthday and kudos, Broomfield!
MomWC, I know all about whack-a-mole this week…there’s something in the water…I love humans they’re delicious etc
Can’t wait to sail away from it all Friday. The imminence of cruise and sandal-ware is making the frosty hill treks feel far lest frost…trudging while picturing sun and sand
Happy birthday, Bromfield!! Kudos on the 10 lbs!
Ran 4 miles in my newly broken in Bondis 4. Awesome shoes! Thank you, MOfWC, for the great recommendations.
I know how you feel about the whack a mole projects! I just signed up for a project that will inbolve herding a few absent-minded, brilliant minds. Yikes. Gotta love what you do!
Enjoy your cruise Kmcmom!!! Sand AND sandals beat snow anyday!!!
Happy Birthday Bromfield & Happy 10lb Party!
How about a nice light up wine glass for your celebration?
