Best of luck Ohio!!!

Good luck ohio! Sounds like you are ready.

Go Ohio!

Good luck, Ohio. You should feel pretty good about it!

Yay Ohio! It’s so fun to follow the accomplishments of hose on this thread.

Beautiful 4.2 miles in Napa this morning. I was able to wait until it was light. Country road, mountains in the background, horses… It was 39 degrees, but clear and no wind.

Love Napa, MOfWC! Glad you got away from the icy mess. You needed this break from it.

We both seem to frequent Napa… just can’t get there on the same date!

I know, BB. This is only my 2nd time here, but it sure is a nice break. Lots of sitting in the sessions, though. California is such a difficult place for employers. It’s a lot of my legal work and challenging for retailers, in particular.

Nrdsb4-wow, that bobcat encounter sounds pretty terrifying! I think your instincts were correct (isn’t that what instincts are for? - survival!)

Rockymtnhigh-good luck with your Half Marathon! I am always in the same boat you are in because I can’t run as fast as my husband. Half marathons are the only distance where I beat him, though. He can’t sustain his pace over the distance and I usually pass him at mile 11 or so - so maybe you will be surprised and end up passing your husband! I do the same thing with pacing myself with other runners and I give them nicknames in my head “Ponytail Girl”, “Midlife Crisis Dude”, etc. It can be entertaining!

Ohio-good luck with your triathalon! You sound amazing - what speed you have! I am looking forward to reading about your victory.

MOWC-running in 39 degrees and no wind sounds divine! Even more so in Napa! Enjoy!

Did an upper body workout with my trainer last night. I am hoping for a short run tonight after work, it depends on how much snow is left on the trail.

Should I feel guilty? Just finished drinking a mudslide as my recovery drink after doing an hour and a half TRX work out suspended from a thatched roof cabana at Bitter End Yacht Club on Virgin Gorda in the BVIs. 85 degrees, blue skies, 90 degree Carribean water. For some reason, not having been able to use my xc skis at home just doesn’t seem to matter right now lol.

As long as the mudslide calories do not exceed the amount of calories expended in the TRX workout!

MKAT:

We hate you!

Just staggered away from the dreaded Airdyne. I’m almost enjoying these little informal 5 mile rides. Today, I tried to do the first 6/10ths of each mile at a good clip and then easy for the second 4/10ths. Managed to go at 65 RPM for the final three intervals. Saw a top heart rate of 93% of my max.on the last one. That is just about perfect in my book.

Snow shoeing tomorrow. Supposed to be 25 degrees and sunny. Just going out for another flat 3.5 miles.

Drink another one tomorrow MK!!!

4 miles on the treadmill (raining hard!) followed by a salad dinner and a good soak in MgSO4 solution. Life is good.

No vino for me though - I have a bunch of crazy stuff to read, so have to have a razor blade-sharp mind.

The only exercise I’ve gotten in the past several days is from blowing my nose, coughing, going to the store for more drugs, and surfing the net looking for lost ancestors. I guess the good news is I haven’t felt like eating much and I’m having quite a bit of success tracing my paternal grandmother’s line back to Germany. My hometown kept fantastic records!

Happy weekend to all – we may be getting more snow Sunday night. Whatever …

No exercise this week for me. About 30 minutes ago I hurt my back. Feels like an anular tear at L4-5, which I’ve done countless times. Very bad lower back spasms. Getting out of the chair is a major ordeal. $%#%@.

Oh man, Nrdsb4 - so sorry that happened! Do you need to seek some care?

^^^Thanks. Based on past experience, the only thing that works is time. Rehab helps sometimes. Really I just need to get my core strong, but this has been going on since I was 16. I was bending over to pick something off the floor.

When you have a herniated disc, the outer shell of the disc ruptures and the pulp like matter inside actually comes out. This is just a micro tear in the outer covering. It hurts like hell when it happens, though.

Oh no, Nrdsb! :frowning: That sounds terrible. Hope there is a helping fix for that.

^^^Thanks. At the moment it happens, it feels like a lightning bolt goes through your disc, then immediately you get really strong muscle spasms.

Usually a few days later it’s a lot better, but you have to be very careful for a while. It’s not the end of the world, but it does suck at the time.

oh Nrdsb, I’m sorry that happened to you!
