My week so far–took the day off Sunday, did a killer indoor cycle class (90 minutes on Monday), and today, I worked with my trainer (weights, TRX, and body weight exercises), followed by an hour on the elliptical.
VeryHappy–a friend of mine had hip pain that the ortho couldn’t quite pin down–he thought it was bursitis. She’s very active (golfs, hikes, snowshoes). She had two rounds of cortisone shots, which seemed to fix the hip problem. It’s been three years since she had the shots.
Idad-hope your condo is back to normal ASAP.
Sabaray–I’d try another pilates studio. You’re not asking for something that’s unreasonable.
I had a very difficult couple of days - spent 12 hours in the car going to the visitation and funeral for my cousin’s son who committed suicide last week. Very tough situation. I got home last night and pounded out a 5 mile run at a pretty fast pace. I think this was my confirmation that I am, in fact, a runner. All I could think of on the drive home was how I really needed to get out and run. I felt better afterwards.
iDad-I sure hope your fans are gone. I can’t imagine living in those conditions! Do you work from home or are retired? So you’re in that environment 24/7? Yikes!
BB-I laughed at your comment about the lady hounding you for the treadmill just so she could walk at 2 mph. I would be muttering things under my breath, along with rolling my eyes at that one.
Michael-I have no words for your upcoming ride. The closest I can come up with is “insane”. I hope it is successful (as in, you survive) and that you have fun.
VeryHappy-sorry to hear about your hip pain. That sounds awful.
Sabaray-I’m also in the camp of just cutting ties with the explanation that the scheduling doesn’t work for you. It sounds as if your running group is a big help for you and you should prioritize what works for you over concerns about awkwardness. Of course, I know that is hard to do!
Work from home, so there is no escape. But, the fans are gone as of a couple hours ago. What a relief. Now, it off to a Jimmy Vaughn concert tonight. Stevie Ray Vaughn’s older brother. Texas blues.
Got to my seat at 8:02. Way in the back (10th row from the stage, center aisle). House lights dimmed at 8:08. Band came on at 8:10. Finished their encore at 9:50. I put the key in the door at home at 10:02. Love it:
4.93 miles run/walk. Another bloody sock. Not even sure which toe is the problem; nothing hurts and I don’t even know there’s anything bleeding until I stop and see the mess.
Annnnnd we’re back to full-on winter, at least in terms of temperature – 27 degrees and very windy. Mother Nature needs to get with the calendar.
You either love her or hate her. Her schtick is that every chemical in food is bad. Her detractors say she has no scientific knowledge. On the good side, she is encouraging people to eat well. I have not read her blog, so I have no independent opinion.
This does it for me. I would not read a blog of someone who prides herself as being a self-educated food scientist yet fails the basic test of reading comprehension.
I have an opinion on Food Babe. It’s that she’s scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for readers by being sensationalist. Sometimes her stuff is borne out by research. other times not so much. I neither love her or hate her, but I do find her obsessions interesting, the same way I find Mark Bittman interesting.
Well, went to go to spin class to only find out that I was looking at the wrong month’s schedule - jumped into the strength training class for 30 mins and then a short run around the track. Work calls, so that will have to do for the noon hour!
