Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Ewww. Hideous.

That’s an understatement! I think they were trying too hard to parody LuLu’s runsies.

6" of snow. Wet, messy snow. I refuse to shovel. I’m on strike. It will all melt by Monday. Till then, I’ll go in and out of the garage.

Michael, I would do the same - veto the shoveling! It will (hopefully) melt quickly.

My H gets to a point during the winter when he stops removing the snow. Says we can drive on it and squish it down.

I haven’t exercised all week. Had a minor medical procedure, all went well, but wasn’t cleared to exercise until tomorrow. Must say that I’ve been a bit itchy and will be glad to get out there.

Went to a late afternoon (5 pm) hot yoga class and couldn’t believe the difference (in what I can do) between taking a class early in the morning and one late in the day. The afternoon class was the same slow flow class with the same instructor that I usually take in the morning, only I felt like I couldn’t do anything. Wow! I’m going to stick to mornings. The good news was that the instructor did a relax and restore class afterwards and it was great!!

Few inches of snow here that started coming down when I was in yoga. I’m going to San Francisco next week and can’t wait.

Good luck with the snow Michael, Deb–everyone else who’s getting it. It’s time for spring!!!

Yuck to Nike fashions and to snow. This just has to be the end. DD is flying east into it tonight and not looking forward to it. The Nike clothes look so droopy and heavy. Would those socks really stay up? I’m remembering when knee socks were fashionable, and always falling down.

Hope you’re back to exercising tomorrow, deb922!

Short beach run this morning, and a long walk this afternoon.

I don’t know if those Nike styles are what women athletes want to see, but I am fairly certain they are not what men want to see on female athletes.

Florida run. Ran with H and we went really slow, which was nice. Explored some new neighborhoods in Ft. Myers. Temp wasn’t bad- 66.

Walk and a home workout yesterday. Reintroducing elements to my routine I haven’t done in a while. Would love to hear more details from those of you out and about in Florida. I might even make a trip out there myself again one of these days. Who knows?

Ran this morning with a much faster friend - which was great, because it really pushed me to test myself. It went much better than I thought it would. She’s quite a bit younger than I am but we paced together pretty well. 11.6 miles - happy to have a rest day tomorrow.

Way to go everyone!

Was reading the wsj this morning and saw an article on a new Ovadia+ Activewear Oxygen Jacket for $295. Idad unfortunately we won’t be seeing this “super luxe” line of workout clothes at tjmaxx. Apparently only available Barneys and Neiman-Marcus.

Managed to get an early morning 5 mile run in my $15 Nike drifit pullover. Performance didn’t seem to suffer from a less expensive garment.

^^^^ What could possibly make a jacket worth that much money???

Snowing here at the moment; hopefully going to stop soon. The fact that spring seems as if it will never arrive here was enough for H to book us another trip to FL, the day after Easter. It helps that we have a free place to stay (BIL & SIL’s new house) and that H had miles for at least part of the flights. We’re about half way between Ft. Meyers & Tampa. H is all over the online real estate ads down there – which doesn’t necessarily mean anything since it’s become a family joke that wherever we go, he checks out the real estate.

I expect the Outnet and Yoox might be selling them at rock-bottom prices soon… Funny how upscale retailers are trying to move into the exercise clothing market with stuff like this (found in the Sport → Run section of NAP):

and here are the perfect leggings to wear with it:

Weights and core last night.

Good run, Sabaray!

The Lulu onesie was perfect for a beach coverup. It’s cute and comfortable.

The only jackets that are even remotely worth $295 are ultra lightweight down or GoreTex ProShell water proof jackets or Polartec NeoShell waterproof jackets.

It’s questionable, even for those three, but at least they offer unique fabrics/materials that are simply not available for cheap. Everything else? No way. A lightweight windbreaker? No way.

Gorgeous day here so we drove over the mountain and bought Mr. Sabaray some new shirts and ties, then hit my favorite BBQ place. Was feeling so virtuous about my running and diet…let’s just say I had my lunch AND dinner there. BBQ is a health food, right?
