Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Did my 1 and 1/2 hours as planned. Wanted to quit half way, but kept on. Going out of town for a couple of days, so I wanted to get in a long one.

Would have loved a Dunkin donut, but settled for scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions instead.

Oh man, a donut sounds really good right now! I’ll be the first to admit I’m no nutrition saint - and I’m totally “ok” with that!

Wow, great job Nrdsb! That’s a LONG bike ride! Hope the scenery is nice!

Good job, nrdbs4. AND- where you live you don’t need Dunkin Donuts! One thing I greatly miss about Dallas is all the wonderful independent donut shops. Seemed like there was one every half mile. We don’t have those in Nashville (well, very, very few) and not many here in Phila either, although there are incredible bakeries here in PA.

The price of a Ritz breakfast will make me eat cardboard. I’ll take donuts, if available!!!

Jacque and Julia’s Mediterranean Seafood Stew simmering on the stove, so I figured, what the heck… and hopped on the dreaded Airdyne for a dreaded five miles. Looks like I matched my personal record from the other day. Topped out at 62 rpm in the final quarter mile.

Legs burning. Bent over panting like a dog. Gotta love the dreaded airdyne.

Hot yoga on Wednesday and today was a trainer workout–lots of planks, squats and core work plus TRX. Going to go for two yoga classes tomorrow. First one is a regular hot yoga class, which is followed by a stretch and restore (which is in a warm room). Promised my H I’d work in the garden with him tomorrow, he’s taking the day off to put in veggie plants that he grew from seed.

Thanks a lot - now I have a Dunkin Donuts craving. And I pass 2 on my way home!

I did hot yoga yesterday, and it totally wiped me out. Recovered enough to swim for an hour today.

I’m at my moms. There is a DD as we go out of town. You people have done it. I will get my donut

There are 18 Dunkin Donuts within 5 miles of my house, and more than 50 within 8 miles. There are places where you can see another DD from the parking lot of the one you’re at. There’s one less than 50 yards from my office building. You can’t escape them.

They changed the donut recipe a few years ago and they are not as good as they used to be IMO. So I don’t go in there much any more. Yeah, that’s it.

99 cent iced tea in April though. So tempting…

When I did the Habitat for Humanity Ride for Homes last year, day 2 brought us into Gettysburg, about a 68 mile leg. After crossing the Susquehanna a River, west of Harrisburg, in some small little town, we stopped at a local mom and pop donut shop that all the locals swore by. It was donut nirvana. I ended up with a peanut butter cup donut. Warm, light dough filled with peanut butter and pieces of Reices Cup and covered with chocolate. I broke every nutritional rule possible except for the “I’m riding 65 hilly mikes today and I’ll eat whatever I damn want” Rule! It was soooo good, but so rich I couldn’t eat more than half! :frowning:

Well, I definitely do not deserve a donut today, unless my record downhill run to the bus stop can be used as an excuse. I realized that if I missed this bus, I would have to hang out downtown for 30 minutes. As the history shows, that is too expensive!!!

When I was a kid, our house was within biking distance to a Shipley’s donuts. My brothers and I would save our change and go get a dozen after church on Sundays. I always loved glazed right out of the oven and chocolate filled. Plain cake was another favorite.

Wow, I don’t think I’ve had a donut in years!

You’re not allowed in my house if you don’t like donuts.

Not to keep the calorie talk going, but we have the city’s best bakery a three minute drive from our house. Luckily, I drive the opposite way to work.

I think our town only has one Dunkin left - however, Tim Horton’s have exploded in # of sites recently. Personally, I’d take a local donut over theirs any day.

Forget about donuts… Piroshki on 3rd is my downfall. At least the spinach and egg have some nutritional value… as I tell myself.

(We are talking carbs, and I am not even drooling! )

Hopelessly behind on posts. Hey, I’ve managed to consume something green two days in a row.

Today was one of the very very rare days when I consume no greens – except for scallions, celery, and fresh tarragon in the Mediterranean Seafood Stew.

I almost always have a salad for either lunch or dinner.

No donuts here, which is probably a good thing …

My gym membership here in MA is now “on hold” for 6 months. Today’s exercise will be packing up stuff for the transition to the beach, along with loading the car and doing some cleaning here before we leave. I’m crossing my fingers that the gym membership at the beach will pick up seamlessly when I try to check in on Monday.

Happy weekend to all.

We have a new DD here but believe it or not, I haven’t been there. I feel like it would be opening the floodgates.

I haven’t been able to run all week. This cold has just been miserable. I went to Pilates on Monday, was home sick for a day and a half, then went to TRX last night and it was about all I could do to halfway keep up. Hoping to run tomorrow.

May’s resolution is focusing back on diet. I’ve been letting myself slide and I need to step it back up, so back to tracking. I want to get my weight to the bottom end of my range before I start marathon training. I need to stop letting myself eat as a reward. Although I’d be happy to try some seafood stew.

CBBB, safe travels to the beach!

Take me with you, sabaray…to the bottom end of that range

When I had that plague, I felt better after a week but have had a hard time on the hill for a couple extra weeks. My knee keeps popping/hyper-extending randomly and ve had a lot of joint pain, but I truly suspect that was because I got out of the routine of the hill for a few weeks.

Today wasn’t too bad, but thank god for the walking poles, which help a great deal!

Idad, you’re becoming a regular airdyne beast. I’m not worthy  mine sits there gathering dust. But I vow that as soon as the pool temp is up I will airdyne…because plunging into the pool right after is about the only way I can handle doing intervals
