GOOD LUCK BUNSEN!!! Can’t wait to hear about it. Safe travels.
3 miles- humid. Fall is coming.
That’s a great visual @fireandrain!
Really tough Pilates workout on the Cadillac.
Oiselle factory shop is open again: http://www.oiselle.com/shop/factory/
Might be some bargains!
Hope today goes well, abasket.
35 minutes this morning. It was actually a little chilly out there.
Good luck today abasket. Bunsen, what day is your race?
Ran 6.1 miles last night with the running club. We ended at Buffalo Wild Wings and I ate every single calorie I had burned and then some. Fun times and lots of good training discussion.
abasket-I hope the colonoscopy goes well today. Enjoy eating some good food today!
Bunsen-good luck with the marathon! Let us know what day it is so we can send positive vibes for you!
Oh, and I’m running a 5K tonight. It’s the 2nd in a series of 3 races sponsored by a local brew pub. It will be hot, but it’s a short distance so it will be good. Pint glasses instead of race shirts - works for me!
I love the idea of good food and drink as opposed to the basic tshirt!!!
Colonoscopy done - home and have DRINK and FOOD!! Besides things being delayed about an hour (I am the WORST time waster!!) all went well. One small polyp taken and I’ll have a follow up quickie visit in a couple of weeks.
Feeling really good that I am getting caught up on my true health needs.
H had a polyp on his first colonoscopy. His diet improved and the next one had no anomalies so he was good for 10 years. Good job @abasket .
So many people I have talked to had one or more polyps removed - I guess that is sort of typical - it’s the content that can determine how “safe” things are.
Yay, abasket. Glad that is “behind” you!
Yay, abasket! What a relief to have it over and done with.
Hope the 5k went well, C3B.
Took a nice walk this morning–3 miles. I stopped by a home being renovated and came away with the name of a contractor after a tour of the project. Walking can be very dangerous, lol. Worked in the garden, and making the house tidy so said contractor won’t be too frightened by what he sees here.
Worked with the trainer today–we did lots of core and balance work; she also showed me how to use a foam roller. Wow! Even though it ws uncomfortable at first, it sure felt great afterwards. Did a 3 mile walk this evening.
@abasket-- Glad you got through your procedure.
@BunsenBurner-- Sending speedy running vibes for your race.
@PlantMom-- Welcome back.
Stretch/strength workout early in the day here.
Last night’s race was fun, but it sure was hot. Over 90 and very humid so I was a little slower than the first race in this series. I still won my age group, though, so I have bragging rights - haha! No exercise today, it is a rest day before tomorrow morning’s long run.
abasket-Glad that everything went well yesterday and so happy that you followed through on all your appointments. Yay You!
Plantmom-I hope the meeting with the contractor goes well. It’s great to see someone’s work first hand, especially when it’s in progress. What are you planning to do at your house?
Bromfield2-aren’t foam rollers great?! It always feels so good afterwards.
Greetings all! I’ve skimmed the posts from the last couple of weeks to get caught up. This is such a fast moving thread!
I “fell off the wagon” a little for about a week and a half – horrible humidity + lack of motivation. I was still walking the golf course and the dog though. Then last week H and I went to Chicago for a wedding. We added on a few days before and after to make a mini vacation. Both hotels we were at had very nice fitness facilities, so I got back into my running routine. Plus we walked all over the city, Lincoln Park Zoo, & the Botanic Garden. Sunday we went to a Santana concert at Ravinia, an outdoor concert venue. Parking is in satellite lots with buses running back and forth to the venue. BUT, the bus service was horrible, so we decided to walk the 2 1/4 miles back to our car after the concert. That day I had over 26,000 steps on my Fitbit!
MOWC - Sorry to hear about your dog. Having been through that, I know how hard it is.
C3B - What a tragedy. So sorry to read about your friends’ son. Congrats on your race, though.
abasket - Chiming in a few days late re: activity trackers. I had waited almost 2 years to get one I had backed through crowd funding. The final product was quite different than what was in their original promo video, and wasn’t really what I was looking for. In June I got a Fitbit Charge HR using LL Bean Bucks. I’m not sure you can find it anywhere for more than a few $$ off the regular price, so getting it at LLB is a good deal. I like it a lot. An absolute requirement for me in a tracker is it has to tell me the time of day. I’ve worn a watch for so long that I can’t give up having the time on my wrist. The social aspect of a Fitbit is fun and motivating. The call alert feature is handy, especially when I have my phone on vibrate and am not aware of an incoming call. I’m somewhat indifferent about the sleep monitor function – I already know when I’m awake in the middle of the night, and since the tracker doesn’t put me back to sleep …
Just love this thread - so encouraging and positive!!
I did pull the trigger on my Fitbit Charge HR last night. And did use my LLBean bucks. Had to go around with the customer service department - I had a 15% off offer I want to use but I guess fitness trackers are “electronics” so they are excluded from the 15% - whatever! I didn’t win the battle but will benefit from the other current offer of a $10 gift card when you spend $50 - so there’s that. Either way I’m getting what will likely be a very nice tracker for just a few bucks out of my pocket - stop complaining abasket!!!
Now I can’t wait to get it!!!
@abasket, LL Bean is having 10% off the entire order through Labor Day. Promo code is LABORDAY. Maybe you can call them and they can readjust your order to reflect the better price.
Just tried a DaVinci Bodyboard class. I confess, gimmicks work on me :-). It’s a flat board with resistance bands hooked onto it. Kind of reverse TRX but with the tension built it. A good combo of weight/ strength with cardio. Fun even at 5:45 am!
Nope, that’s just it Mansfield - since I am an LLBean Visa cardholder our deal is 15% off - but it excludes electronics - which a fitness tracker apparently is. I pushed pretty hard with that customer service rep and even went a step higher but no luck - let them know my displeasure!
