Congrats to MOfWC and her daughter on a great and fun race! Yeah, loot report, please!

The shirts are hideous. Slimy “tech” fabric in Orange. Orange is a no-no color for Vandy fans.
We left before the awards because they were really late and we wanted to go eat. They are sort of ugly medals. I’ve won gift certificates at this race before, but I think that ended. I’ll try to get my medal later.

Congratulations MoWC & daughter!

So how big a mountain do you think could be made with all the unused race wear?! I personally am NOT a regular tshirt wearer - just don’t like the feel of the neck/arms when it’s a unisex tshirt. Women’s t-shirts with shorter sleeves and a little more open neck? Ok. And then there is the dri fit/silky material category. Long sleeves? Usually works for me for cooler running or around the house. Women’s fit? - if lightweight ok. But I have several unisex dri-fits that no matter what the size, the short sleeves are not short, the fabric is heavy and not comfy, etc. etc.!!!

I haven’t run in many races, but after the first one I stopped taking the free race T-shirt unless I really really like it. And come to think of it, I donated the first one to Goodwill. I tend to save everything, and knew that if I started getting these T-shirts my predilection would mean I would soon have a drawer full of T-shirts that I never wore but couldn’t throw out. So I acted totally out of character and decided not to take them.

(If I had started running in my 20s, I can’t even imagine how many T-shirt I would have. I would have saved them all.)

I ran a very slow 5 miles this morning. I hope my speed picks up when the humidity drops.

I’ve had a couple of tshirt quilts made. I donate shirts that I don’t like or aren’t meaningful.

Every year we cull our shirts. I am racing less, too.

Congrats BB on the marathon.
MOWC- very sorry about your golden. Our golden only made it to age 10.
Great job on all the exercise.
MNK- missed my invite to your party. Maybe next time? CC party in your backyard studio?
Day 8 of no soda for me. Have not walked every day but most days and I just finished Salt, Sugar Fat today. It was an interesting perspective on food.

Finally: so missing IDad. I was thinking of going back to find his last post. I don’t recall any mention of taking a break from CC.

So far, I entered 5 races: 1 5k and 4 marathons. Three tees are saved for training during cooler days because they are actually good, and two are used for gardening/yardwork (cool logos, not so cool tees). I understand that race tees are used as an advertising tool for the race and its sponsors, but if the tee is so ugly no one would wear, is it an efficient tool? I really wish some race organizers would just use whatever $5-7 of the entry fee that covers its production for charity donation or entry fee reduction.

^^YES to all of this!!!

Now I’m seen some nicer ones and I have one in particular - a long sleeve dri-fit that I love and wear a lot. But for the most part…I’m disappointed when I see the swag wear!

Waited till 7pm but even then still 88 degrees outside and humid. UGH. Carried water with me - more went on me than in me! But got a couple and a half miles in and then took poor pup out in that misearableness to take care of his steps for the day.

Wow @BunsenBurner, I’m impressed. 4 marathons! You go girl.

Congrats MoWC and daughter!

My DH and I walked 3 miles this morning–easy peasy. The hard work came this afternoon in the jungle garden. I pulled weeds for hours. Lantana, escaped passion vine, stinky balsam apple vine, daughter’s stray evil thorny blackberries, elm and oak seedlings, invading aloes, and so much more. My only company was one lone black snake (we ignored each other). Fun, not! But I feel like I accomplished something.

Yikes to the snake!!! That sounds like a workout PlantMom!

@busyparent , I still must not have the hang of how to do Internet evites! but yeah, a CC boot camp party in my back yard, that sounds like a plan!

One long day today; just finished cleaning up from the party (10:30 Phila time). Started the day with a parallettes workout followed by added sets of pull ups, chin-ups and dips. Then set up for the party and as part of the set up, I felt obliged to do a couple of circuits on the playground to make sure everything was tight. Guests started arriving at 3:00. One guest, Jody, a 64 year old nationally ranked masters bike racer who is also a personal trainer and trained me 20 years ago, refused to do any circuits on the playground until she had consumed 2 Mike’s hard Lemonade. That kinda set the tone for the rest of the afternoon, lol. My daughter, in her unique style, told me I had lost my mind if I thought she was going to do a mini boot camp after working 14 hour days this weekend training others and getting her own workouts in. Amanda, a 27 year old who really could be on America Ninja Warrior, did several circuits wearing wedges after having multiple beers. Ben, a 50 year old competitive triathlete paid the price of doing a circuit for each cheeseburger he wanted while his wife, also a competive triathlete laughingly called him a jackass for even thinking about doing it after having raced yesterday. And then I, as the host, felt obliged to do a few more circuits after having my own Mike’s Lemonade. Ugh, I am tired!

“Amanda, a 27 year old who really could be on America Ninja Warrior, did several circuits wearing wedges…”

Amanda is my hero, LOL.

You hang with a tough crowd Michael!

Michael, you need to start a blog (or do you have one?!) Your descriptions of this new journey are interesting, funny, and insightful/inspiring !!! One more thing on your to-do list!!!

Michael does have a really cool life- especially for a lawyer!

3.2 miles on tired legs this morning. The streak lives on!

Congratulations on yesterday’s race, MOWC.

The party sounds like a roaring success, Michael.
Tai chi yesterday, TBD today.

I went to mellow yoga early this am–rode my bike to class and got a 10% discount on the drop-in rate. Not bad.

@BunsenBurner Congratulations on your marathon.

M&K: Dont think I am worthy of attendance at your party–very accomplished attendees.
