Go jym!!!
Thanks! You guys are great!
Oh Michael - you are too funny! Jym, I am proud of you! I told Mr. Sabaray yesterday that our town’s Turkey Trot was in two months and he had plenty of time to get ready, even if we just walked together. Last year we volunteered.
I got my flu shot Wednesday and am not feeling 100% today. I’ve been on a medication that can cause weight gain, but so far has been minimal and my doctor is relatively unconcerned. BP was 108/70, RHR was 60. I felt pretty good about that!
Calling for rain most of the weekend which I am actually thankful for. Happy Friday all!
BB, it’s just amazing how sophisticated technology has changed the face of fitness. From wearable devices like FitBit, to the ultrasound body composition scanner, to computer linked cycling wattage trainers, there are so many ways we can use technology to enhance our pursuit of fitness. Who ever thought you could wear a little band on your wrist that interfaces with your cell phone that has an application on it that will log your heart rate, calories expended, volume of movement and even your sleep patterns. It’s just crazy cool stuff :). And at the other extreme to have available for at home use technology such as ultrasound body composition analyzers and computer interfaced wattage based trainers that previously were available only in performance labs is intoxicating lol.
Very cool present, Michael!
Enjoy the 5K, jym!
I also got my flu shot Wednesday and my arm is sore, but otherwise I’m OK.
Good workouts, fireandrain.
My wife just got a flu shot in her left arm. We were walking down the street and I put my arm around her and inadvertantly squeezed her left shoulder. She punched me with her right arm. That one apprarantly works just fine :).
HAHA^
A 3 hour commute!? Oh my! That’s worse than a NYC commute! How do you manage???
Great workouts everyone and kudos on the start of the flu shots to combat flu season! We get them here at work but I don’t think they’ve started the process yet.
51 minute run this morning. I got out a little later than usual due to a blister that needed some fixing up before I could go without too much pain.
Jym, good luck on your 5k!
Michael, that is such a great gift for you. Let the obsessing begin!
“A 3 hour commute!? Oh my! That’s worse than a NYC commute! How do you manage???”
It is 1.5 hr each way. Ten min for Mr. to drive me to the bus stop, 45-50 min or so on the commuter bus (I get a window seat, read, work, surf CC, shop, etc.) plus 20 min walking between the bus stop and work plus 10 min waiting for the bus. So not all of it is wasted!
jym, have fun on the 5k. Hope the weather is as great for you as it appears it will be here. Late summer/early fall weather is just the best for outdoor activities.
Good luck jym!
4 mile run, I sound like a broken record but we have had an amazing run of great weather.
^^Here, here to that! It has been a fantastic September weather wise. No air, no heat, windows open, and I can still wear my shorts - THIS IS THE LIFE!!
Can’t complain about our weather either!
Hoo boy, I can & this is about the only time of year I can, so I’ll grab the opportunity. It’s been in the high 90’s for weeks. They keep teasing us on the weather reports with a possibility of rain, then it will pass to the south of us & we are left high and dry - literally! It’s shaping up to be a scary wildfire season if we don’t get some rain soon.
Gertrude, tell me again what part of the country you live???
San Diego. Most of the year we have lovely, perfect weather, but Sept & the first half of October can be brutal.
Oh ok - I’m not going to feel sorry for you then - San Diego (swoon!!!)!!!
Gertrude- I was on the phone with a lawyer from San Diego yesterday and he was complaining about the heat. Usually, the weather reports from San Diego are just perfection. I love it there. I’ve had many a run along the waterfront from Shelter Island or Horton Plaza.
Yes, it is truly a lovely place to live. I guess we have to have a little bad stuff to appreciate the months of good!
Took advantage of the beautiful weather today and did a parallettes workout outside. Two more sessions and i’ll progress to the next phase. In addition to the skill set I’m developing, I can feel and see how it is developing my shoulders and triceps differently than with traditional weight lifting. Plus it’s very core-centric. After I finished the routine, I did 3 circuits of my playground to failure. What a great day outdoors!
