It was raining and cold yesterday but dressing for the weather was easy. Turned on the heat in the house , set it for 68 and wore shorts and a tee shirt to work out indoors.
Still unbearably damp and gloomy here. 3 1/2 miles done. H hasn’t pried himself out of the house for his bike ride yet.
I think Mr B would approve of your husband’s decision to stay put.
Riding in cold and damp is much worse than running in cold and dump!
Today’s plan is to finish the war on ivy.
I got my 21 mile training run done this morning and it went well. It was so yucky yesterday - cold, windy, drizzly with 40 mph wind gusts - so we decided to postpone the run to this morning. It was a good decision as the weather was perfect this morning. Low 50s, light breeze, and mostly overcast to start with and partly sunny at the end. I had a good run and am feeling good about the marathon, but I just wish it wasn’t still 5 weeks away.
Weather has improved today. Partly cloudy, a high of 62 or so expected and a light breeze. Some yard work this morning and hopefully a nice run later this afternoon. Being cooped up yesterday was NOT my idea of a good day!
We’re getting rain today in San Diego - hooray! We need it so badly. No workout planned for today - just chores & errands.
My husband’s cousin crashed on his bike during a race yesterday & broke his hip / leg in 3 places - yikes! Surgery tomorrow - apparently a complicated one involving pins and plates.
Wow, C3Baker! Good planning. I ran a long run in sub-40 weather under pouring rain and got so cold that I bailed out, ran back home, and finished the run by running the last couple of miles on the treadmill - LOL. I am surprised that your training plan called for the long run 5 weeks before the race. The plans I have seen all give you 2-2.5 weeks of taper before the marathon.
That’s awful Gertrude - you can only wear so much padding with a bike!!
So sorry to hear that, Gertrude. Hope the surgery goes without any complications.
Oh no Gertrude! I’m so sorry.
C3B- that’s a long run. I’m also surprised at that distance 5 weeks out, but good job!
I ran 15 miles this morning, in the rain. This is my longest run ever, and only the second time I’ve ever run in the rain. I came home looking like a drowned rat. I adjusted my Ucan intake, and it seems to be working for me. I didn’t run out of gas, and actually ran a faster pace than my 13.1 run. No leg or foot cramps at all while running, although I did have a small cramp in my foot while foam rolling my tired legs. But it was very small and of short duration, a huge improvement for me.
C3Baker, you are definitely ready for your marathon! I’m kind of dreading doing a 21 mile training run.
Thanks everyone - he’ll be fine. He’s young & healthy & has a great attitude (and apparently a new appreciation for Valium as of yesterday).
Cool(er) day today, finally. Yes! New running skirts were delivered too, so I felt stylish and comfortable for a few miles this morning
I received one Lulu Pleat to Street skirts (dark multicolor micropleat skirt with bright salmon/orange shorts) and one black Pace Rival Skirt II. Both are flattering, although I can see how some might feel the micropleats emphasize a hippy bottom.
Plantmom- I have that dark print pleated skirt and love it!
I love the micro pleat version even better than the regular plissé PTS skirts! The one I have has butterflies and cream-colored shorts. Putting it in the washer as we speak.
Cheered D1 on during the 10 mile run part of the Twin Cities Marathon this morning. 44 degrees at race time. Her goal was to just finish the race as she hadn’t trained at all and she did it! I checked out the running clothes of the other runners while waiting for her. Not many running skirts but lots of capris and long tights. Also lots of tossed gloves and long sleeved shirts along the way as runners warmed up.
I have now officially lost 16 pounds. Yay!
NMinn, 3X 5 pound party!! Yay! <:-P <:-P <:-P
Congrats to your daughter, too!!!
Yay, NMinn. My young, fast friend ran the Twin Cities Marathon today. She was happy with her 3:08 but it wasn’t a PR. She’s trying to get closer to 3 and then break 3. After a couple of post-race beers she started texting me to make sure that she had, again, beaten my Pr. She had- by a few seconds.
NMinn, that’s fabulous! Gotta be LOOKING GOOD!!!
62 degrees, 3.5 run, fashion-less in my shorts and S’s alma mater dri fit short sleeve!!
Gertrude, that’s awful about your husband’s cousin! All of the bike racers I ride with always talk about the risks of racing in a pack of riders they don’t know. Can never really know what they might do and can only hope they will ride predictably and safely. Hope he has an easy recovery and rehab.
All you runners out there are really kickin’ butt this weekend. Did my indoor wattage training yesterday and so far today, my workout has consisted of putting boxes in storage in our attic and cleaning out my closet. I did find a 30 year old Henderson scuba diving skin suit in my closet that still fits me perfectly. Since I spent yesterday afternoon wedding gown shopping with my daughter, I sent her a photo of me in the skin suit and told her I no longer needed to look for a tux. I think I traumatized her lol.
