So that’s a little bad news but good news too! One must splurge every once in a while!
Wondering how Sabaray’s wrist is doing???

Good job, abasket! Sabaray- how are you?
I drove by her town and waved last night, but had to keep going to the stop for the night. Long driving day today with a chilly run from the hotel on not very great streets before we started the drive. Back home now.
Hope she is Ok! Maybe typing is a little bit painful with all the stitches.
Oh, great! Got a text from Mr. that he is dining someone… and I am invited. Just what I needed. I’m ordering a salad!
Fireandrain, actually the upshot of the article was to eat balanced meals that include carbs from healthy food sources, adjust the amount of carbs based on your particular needs, such as if you are a long distance endurance athlete, and avoid low carb diets unless you have specific medical conditions that so warrant. It urges avoidance of fad diets and extreme diets and cites a load of science in support of its statements. The author is a PhD who is the founder of Precision Nutrition which among other things offers comprehensive nutritional counseling certifications.
I am here and reading along - Bunsen is right, typing was hard yesterday! I couldn’t use my pinky very well and frankly was achy and tired from the Tdap. I was also busy helping D negotiate and accept a new job offer! I feel better today though. Had to cancel Pilates for the week as I can’t grip the handles and my knee is honestly a mess. So I might be on a rest week.
You must feel very frustrated sabaray! Maybe some stretching, ab work etc for some active recovery while you heal and to stave off going nuts from inactivity?
Actually, though, sometimes rest weeks are so beneficial. I rank them right up there with naps. Sometimes so badly needed but seemingly never enough time to indulge!
I’m so sorry, sabaray. You won’t lose a thing if you rest all week. I promise. I know it is frustrating and scary to fall like that.
Sabaray, sending healing thoughts your way so you can get back on the road! Congrats to your D on the new job.
Congrats to your D Sabaray and to you since you helped negotiate!!!
As much as we dread a week off, it can be just the right amount of time to “want it” when we get going again. Your body will probably thank you!
H and I walked the dogs together this morning - they both seem to understand they need to be on their very good behavior and that we’re a little slower and shorter than normal. I appreciate all the encouragement - I’ve fallen before but this is the first time I’ve really injured myself badly. A headlamp is in my future.
sending recovery wishes sabaray.Glad to hear that you had a good walk this AM.
Congrats to your D.
Congratulations to your daughter, sabaray. Does she have to relocate?
Headlamps are really good and not uncomfortable. I always forget how really good they are. This morning was my first time out with mine this season. It makes you feel sort of bada$$, too.
She will not have to relocate, which is good. Just a little longer on the bus each day. I’m really happy for her.
What kind of headlamp do you have, MOWC? I’m looking at the Petzl Tikka (several different models)- someone else recommended the Black Diamond sprinter. I’m not a huge fan of stuff on my head but want something that will be easy to secure and not slip. I am wondering too if it is better to spend more on a lamp that will automatically adjust brightness depending on conditions (Tikka R+ and RXP).
Congrats to your daughter, sabaray! Fingers crossed for your hand to heal quickly.
I’ll look when I get home. I am thinking it’s a Black Diamond, but I upgraded last year (my night vision is bad) and I might be wrong. Mine doesn’t adjust, but has a couple of different settings and is VERY bright. It does adjust in angle, so you can tilt it different ways in front of you. It does not slip and is quite comfortable, especially over a headband or hat in the winter.
BB be sure to ask for a to go box when you get your meal or dessert - that way you set aside a portion and still can enjoy eating out.
Good point, SOSConcern, but there were more people at the table than just the two of us, so anything that would have disrupted the conversation or the flow of the meal was out.
Sending thoughts for a rapid recovery your way, Sabaray. Congrats to your DD on the job.
This mild morning (70 degrees) I took a 3.1 mile run followed by a leisurely stroll to cool down on a neighborhood boardwalk. Once upon a time when I first started running with the C25K, this boardwalk was a favorite place to run. It winds through a swampy pine forest out to a lake, and the surface provides a nice little springy cushioning–nice relief from the asphalt. A few years ago some stupid kids torched it along with a bunch of trees somehow, and it’s finally being rebuilt, only now. I can’t wait until it’s back and officially open for use.
I do not do well with taking food home from dining out - those boxes are H’s first targets! It is hard when socializing to take food home - much easier when it’s just the two of us.
