Add my name to the better eating table reservation, abasket! My most recent transgression has been the large bag of “less guilt” corn chips that whispers its lies every time I walk by the pantry.
Contemplating the health news of the day about processed meats and read meat which have been mostly absent from our diets, anyway, for H’s heart health.
I did a few short walks today, and lifted weights at the gym.
I hear you, Gertrude. We seem to have sprouted candy bowls at work. I think it’s early Halloween-itis. Easy to put the old hand in there and have a small Reeses or two. Those little ones aren’t bad for you, right?
BB, haha - you start that kickstarter for the app and I’ll throw my candy $$ in to get you started!!!
Another thing that helps is the “pick and choose” - someone at work brought in a “generic” grocery store pumpkin roll. I knew it wouldn’t be all that good …so, why bother? I’d rather eat one homemade cookie somewhere in my week then that not so flavorful pumpkin roll!
Breakfast:egg white and veggie sausage on multigrain light english muffin
lunch: Southwest soup
dinner:cauliflower stir fried “rice” with veggies and chicken
Got the new Athleta catalogue today and there is some really nice looking stuff. I would want to see it in person to see the weight etc of the fabric. We do have a store here… Looks like some good heavy tights for us cold weather runners. I don’t think Athleta is much less expensive than Lulu, though.
I am just about to plan dinner! I think I will make turkey meatballs with chanterelle sauce, if I can find the sauce recipe. Cauliflower in place of mashed potatoes.
My knee hurts today. I’m going to have it checked out on Wednesday. So, since running is off the table for now I’ll have to join the healthy eating group:
Breakfast: 5 prunes (good for the bones), Gouda cheese, 2 pcs toast with grass fed butter
Lunch: 3 hard boiled egg
Dinner: roasted chicken, sautéed chard and opo squash, and a glass of Pinot Grigio. An orange for dessert
I didn’t get my reservation in on time for this day, and I ate lunch standing up because husband wasn’t home and we had a contractor here, so for me:
Breakfast: WW Banana walnut bread with mixed nut butter/green tea
Lunch: PB and honey on whole wheat, ff cottage cheese, a slice of aged gouda, the not-so-guilty tortilla chips…
Dinner: Roast chicken, black beans on brown rice, green salad with avocado, glass of pinot grigio.
Dessert: pumpkin Chobani ff yogurt
Too many carbs, way less on the fruit and veggies than usual. Better tomorrow!
NRE, knowing something about both spectroscopy and spectrometry, I guarantee that the analyzer - as advertised! - is not even at the waporware stage. It is great to see math and computer science majors take on chemistry problems, isn’t it? They sell a beta tester for $1200. Do you think it will be able to analyze the contents of the mushroom buckwheat pilaf I made for dinner today?
Here is a good writeup about the limits of spectroscopy used in their device:
Fats are high due to salmon, guacamole and nuts. The Back to Nature cookies are the size of Oreos. On other days, fats will be lower and carbs higher but below 250 gms, and I’ll have more fruit.
I love frozen chocolate covered bananas. Reminds me of summers in Cape May!
Despite the fantastic Lulu rain jacket (which I did wear to work yesterday and everyone wants one), I could NOT get out in the pouring rain this morning. 3.1 on the treadmill. Haven’t run outside since Sunday morning.
Yup, frozen banana covered with either dark or milk chocolate. Made by Diana’s Bananas and available at Whole Foods. While I generally prefer milk chocolate over dark chocolate, when it comes to these, the dark chocolate is a better taste mixture with the banana. Only 130 calories per banana it’s really only about half a full size banana so figure about 60 calories from the banana and about 70 from the chocolate :).
