Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

I am not happy about the upcoming darkness. My treadmill will see lotta more action soon. :frowning:

Abasket, if that foot thing bothers you a lot, and you have decent insurance, maybe you can schedule a visit to a dermatologist and combine your foot question with a check for suspicious spots.

NMinn, I drink about 1.5 ounces each of tart cherry juice and unsweetened cranberry juice and water at lunch each day with the hopes of getting the anti-inflammatory action. My husband blends the tart cherry with unsweetened lemon juice (diluted with water) for the acidity his doctor thinks beneficial to avoiding kidney stones. These juice blends taste good now that I’m accustomed to the tartness. I doubt it does anything for my sleeping though.

H got his standing desk yesterday afternoon. He likes it!

It’s flooding near San Antonio. Hope MOWC is either back home or on high ground!

We got out on time. Now in Nashville but staying on plane to fly to DC for my father’s funeral. My daughter will board soon and will preside over the service. She and I will do a semi-long run in the morning.

Thinking of you and your family tomorrow MOWC.

Thanks!

MOfWC, cyberhugs.

Thoughts are with you MOWC.

I’m very happy your D is able to do the services for her grandfather. Safe travels.

Thanks. We had a great run this morning on the W&OD path in northern VA. Darter was supposed to do 2 hours with the 2nd hour being faster. We ran together for 4 1/2 miles in beautiful fall weather (I wore a lot more clothes than she did). I turned back at that point for my 9 miles. The return is very slightly downhill, and I really flew (for me). So did she, so we were both happy. You feel like you can get through anything in your day when you’ve had a strong morning run.

We went to La Madeleine for breakfast afterwards, which was a favorite Dallas haunt of ours. They have calorie counts on the pastries now, which was pretty eye-opening. I steered clear of the 610 chocolate almond croissant. Geez. I used to gobble those down!

Ha! DH and I ate breakfast at La Madeleine today. I reluctantly gave DH the butter croissant that came with my omelette.

But in retrospect, I’m glad. I don’t metabolize carbs efficiently as most, so best to steer clear when I can.

My daughter didn’t offer up her butter croissant!

3 miles Halloween run in my new balega socks - seems I love them - they felt great on and while running. Thin on the top, thicker on the bottom - PERFECT. Had to go with the fun colors - got 2 pair to start. This could be another clothing addiction…thanks Sabaray for the suggestion!

Balega socks are the best!

Glad the socks made your run enjoyable, abasket! I think running socks wear out and need to be replaced just like running shoes. I hang on to mine until they become paper thin - not a good idea. My running bra and sock drawer is my next “bag a week” target!

I have found a good technique with smoothing out the dry foot bottoms/heels - after using one of those cheap metal hand held skin shaving device (the kind that salons doing pedicures are not allowed to use) and a bit of pumice stone, I then use the petroleum jelly in a tube that squeezes out and smooths in/absorbs some - then wear cotton socks or the socks/stockings you are wearing for the day/evening. It has the best one day results of anything I have used, Eucerin, other lotions.

Where do you get those shaving devices? I know exactly what you mean. I have used straight edge razor blades, but I’m pretty dangerous with those.

Any Dollar store; Walgreens, CVS. Where the nail files etc are. The package may say Callus Remover. It has a handle and a grater looking strip about an inch wide and 3 inches long.

Thanks!

I’m picturing one of those things you slice cheese with…
