November seems to be off to a good start. 3.5 mile run, yogurt with honey, raspberries and banana, Pilates/TRX combo class. I’ll now be lying in a prone position the rest of the day! Not really.
@C3Baker - did you get back? Are you finally tapering?

Good, Sabaray! How’s the hand?
4 1/2 miles in VA this morning on tired legs. Rained on me the last .6 or so. Son ran 16. I had to take my daughter to the airport at 5am so she could fly back to her church to officiate. I fly back soon. I’m ready to be home.
Made it to Denver arriving around 9am this morning and just got back from spending 3-4 hours walking the city! It’s a GORGEOUS day for a run, but I need to look fresh for our first conference session (well, session + cocktails and appetizers!) in a couple of hours and I’m operating on almost no sleep last night - I was too freaked out that with the time change my alarms were going to screw up! If I have any energy left this evening maybe I’ll do a quick fitness center visit - it’s a nice newly remodeled one!
Good job, everyone!
Our exercise was not very intense this weekend. I realized that Mr. needed a small dose of vacatherapy because of the crazy crap he was dealing at work. So our airline miles and hotel points were put to a good use. I’m pleased to say that I hardly heard any complaints about the crazy crap, and his work laptop stayed home. A victory in my book!
There is a gorgeous beachfront path here, but I hate running on hard concrete. So we walked 3 miles yesterday to and back from (very pretentious) dinner, splashed in the ocean, and snorkeled for an hour. I stirred Mr. away from carby foods…until this morning when we went crazy at the breakfast buffet at Andaz. I never had mochi waffles - they were delicious. So we are skipping lunch. Sadly, our wonderful beach bumming is coming to its end. Flying home tonight, back to work tomorrow. Mr. is fascinated with the mystery crash of that Russian plane in Egypt and is bombarding me with the latest details. Not the news I want to follow before flying!
Sounds fun, Bunsen! Abasket- enjoy Denver. I love it there.
Yes, Denver is fun. Have a wonderful time there, abasket!
BB, my H turned up that news story when we were headed to the airport this morning …uh, just NO!!!
Followed up last week’s 10K with a hometown 15K this morning. Oh my goodness, it was hot. However, the run went well, no pain & I now have that distance under my belt! The festival following the run was a hoot - they had a trebuchet (sort of like a catapult) & were launching people’s Halloween jack o lanterns so they would splat on the ground. Good silly fun.
I’m a little jealous of all the travelers - enjoy, everyone!!
Congrats Gertrude!
Have fun in Denver, abasket. I will not be cheering for that home team this evening :0 I have ordered a pair of pretty aqua Balega socks based on your (and the group’s!) recommendation.
BB, what a beautiful weekend for you!
MoWC, I’m glad you’re on your home turf again. Thinking of you and your family.
This weekend, the positives…I did avoid the candy bowl; I have no Halloween candy in the house; I walked a bunch of miles with my husband each day; I just ran 2.5 or 3 in the dim early evening light. Still over 80 and a bit humid though. The not so positives: lots of sitting at several theater productions, movie popcorn, too many chocolate cherries!
Most of my exercise this weekend consisted of outting the gardens to bed for the winter. Lots of pruning/raking-- general cleaning up of deck/patio container plantings. Spent 5-5 hours outside each day which was great. I signed up for 3 yoga sessions for the upcoming week (M, W, and F)
and I am really looking forward to that.
3.1 miles this morning- foggy and 59 degrees. I felt pretty good. I am pretty beat from the trip, funeral etc., but I’m home! I only took my Hoka Stinson 3s on the trip, so I wore them 4 days in a row. They are NOT a good treadmill shoe, so Friday when I was stuck on the treadmill in San Antonio was like running in hiking boots.
Haha ^^^^
Did some treadmill time here in Denver - whoa, spoiled - treadmills with built in fans?! Still don’t love the dang dreadmill but I wasn’t willing to head out in the dark. Now to sit on my butt all day…already eyeing up an hour this afternoon to escape and go for a walk!
Breakfast provided here this morning was yogurt smoothies in glass jars with berries and a mint sugar rim - yum. Small croissants with honey - and I fully enjoyed one. Some fruit and coffee.
I got back late Thursday night and have been pretty busy since the moment I landed. I got a 10 mile run in this weekend and it was great - a fast pace and it felt really good. I’m glad for that since the long runs in Shanghai never go well and it was a nice confidence boost. Tonight is just a 3 mile run, then I have 2 miles on Wed and 2 miles on Fri before the marathon on Saturday. Right now the weather forecast looks good so I am hoping it stays that way!
MOWC-I’ll bet you are worn out from all that traveling. I hope the funeral went well, it’s great that your kids could be there.
abasket-enjoy your conference in Denver, that sounds like a pretty nice place to be!
Gertrude-nice job on the 15K race! The festival sounded pretty fun, especially the trebuchet!
My Lululemon rain jacket arrived and I love it!
I am going to have to check out those socks!
Thanks. The funeral service went really well. We set up the GO ARMY BEAT NAVY button right next to the box with my father’s ashes. My daughter did a great job officiating and with the homily. She tweeted that she moved from presiding over the funeral to bartender “like you do”.
That sounds like the best kind of funeral, MOWC - as funerals go. I bet you’re glad to be at home.
Wondering why your muscles ache after exercise? I thought this was interesting.

Happily, I feel pretty good today. I reminded myself there was no need to work to the point of exhaustion in TRX and as a result, know I worked out yesterday but also can lift my arms over my head.
Yesterday I used My Asics and mapped a training plan to help build up my mileage and increase my speed over the winter months. I need something to be working towards so hopefully that will help keep my rear in gear.
You all are making me want more Balega. I never thought socks made that much of a difference until recently - now I know they can make a huge difference.
RoadrunnerSports has Balega and I think you can get the VIP membership for first time members for $2 or something, which gives you a nice discount.
First hot yoga session of the week is done. Went to a flow yoga class with an instructor who was new to me–she was intense. It was a great workout and I felt so good when I walked back to my car.
Glad to hear the services for your father went well, MOWC.
Mountain biking in Vegas on the “easy” trail this weekend. This road biker managed to crash numerous times. Think I might have broken my hand! Think I better stick to the bike paths. 5 miles the past few days on the streets of Vegas.
Oh no! I hope you didn’t break your hand. Mountain biking is terrifying. My son is mountain bike racing these days. I don’t like it.
