I have a bunch of Wunder Unders and I wear them mainly for casual wear. The one negative for running is that they don’t have pockets for a key, Kleenex or gel. I haven’t had a pilling problem- machine wash and hang to dry.
Thanks everyone. I’m so confused about what she wants. I sent her the Lululemon web page, asking her to pick what she wanted, and she said she couldn’t decide. I’m tempted to give her a gift certificate, but then I may have to visit the store while she’s here over Christmas. NOT something I want to do, since the Lulu store mall is an absolute zoo at that time. And the reviews on the Lululemon site really don’t help at all since they are so varied. What I suspect she really wants is some compression workout leggings/tights/pants in a compression fabric like Nike dri fit. I think that I am the one who now wants some Wunder Unders!
Two hour vinyasa yoga today–benefit class for the local Community Chest charity. My two favorite teachers at the yoga studio led the class. It was a great–this is the third anniversary of beginning my yoga practice–which I started at 60!! I am a total klutz with no innate sports ability so being able to do this class was a nice accomplishment for me.
Feel better Deb. Thanks for the tip on the Athleta sale FG!
@MomofWildChild : About two months ago, I figured out how to add pockets to all my running clothes. I mostly run with the dog, so I needed pockets for the poop bags. I bought bathing suit fabric at the fabric store–four-way stretch, black. I cut rectangles a little less than the width of my hand and a little longer than my hand from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger (about 8"x3"). I sewed them onto my pants right at the side seam, half in front of the side seam, half behind, with the top just below the elastic of the waist band, using a narrow zig-zag stitch. I stretched the pocket just a bit in width while I was sewing it on. I did the first one on my oldest pair of running tights, took the pocket for a test run, and added pockets to all my running clothes and all my regular pants the next day. The pockets are mostly hidden by a sweater or whatever jacket I’m wearing. The depth is great, stuff stays in them no problem, and I completely forget they’re there.
I’m impressed, dmd! I could never do that. Most of my tights have some sort of pocket- or else I have a jacket or top on with pockets.
Dmd, wow. Very impressive.
I need 'roo pockets, as I discovered, for my long runs. Anything in a side pocket would create imbalance and cause discomfort.
Any objects held close to the middle of my belly or back are fine…
That’s funny, @MomofWildChild and @BunsenBurner – I really hate pockets in a top or at the belly. I like mid-back pockets, but holding a leash and getting to a mid-back pocket is almost impossible, hence side pockets. As far as “imbalance” goes, all that’s in the pockets is a Fitbit One (the smallest one) and poop bags–no real weight to speak of. Our back door has a combination lock because I hate carrying keys, so I don’t need those. And I don’t carry my phone while running, since I prefer silence. (I do wear a RoadID, and the dogs carry their own ID as well.)
Sometimes taking a day off is mentally tougher than the toughest workout. Today’s one of those days for me even though it’s been 10 days since my last day off. Intellectually I know I should take today off, but I think it’s causing a hormonal reaction lol.
What is this day off of which you speak?
^lol.
I can finally contribute to the fashion discussion. How about a $300 tshirt? ($295). Saw it advertised in the WSJ today. Never thought I’d see the day that running gear cost would be competing with golf. Apple watch, iPhone, Hokas, tech socks, compression tights, goretex warm ups, tech gloves, tech hat, headlamp and the new tech tshirt has me over 2 grand for a 3 mile run around town!

I am finally feeling better this morning. Worked out with my trainer this morning, felt really good. I love feeling that I’m progressing and improving. Really a good feeling. Haven’t run all week, but that’s okay. Good to mix things up a little.
Wow, I’m not even sure I like that shirt!
Glad to hear you are over the sickness hump Sabaray - it’s no fun to be sick this time of year - or any!
Looks sunny out there but COLD today - 30 this morning and not going to warm up much at all. Brought my gym bag with me to work for later.
Only did 15 min on the elliptical this morning as I do really find it boring, but it was a gift so I will use it. More later.
sabaray- I’m so impressed with all your classes and strength work. I’m sure you are improving a lot! I’m still pretty much a one trick pony. I do use the Jungle Gym/TRX type set up in the basement, but mainly just pullups and pushups.
3.5 miles this morning in my older puff pullover. It was 29 degrees. My mileage is lower this week due to the eye stuff and just, well, life. I retired the Hoka Bondi 4s at 302 miles after this morning’s run. That’s really high mileage for me on shoes. I shoo-gooed them a couple of times. I told them goodbye and put them in the Goodwill pile in our garage.
@jym626, you need to look at the elliptical as the means to an end - boring elliptical leads to fun skiing!
I think the right environment for classes and the like makes a huge difference. We still belong to a center that offers classes, but at the risk of sounding elitist, the classes aren’t full of “serious” exercisers. At the Pilates studio, everyone is working their rear off. No slacking. And it’s fun! I also adore my trainer. I’ve now tried every type of class the studio offers and enjoy pretty much all of it. I’m doing a lot more for myself now than I was 20 years ago.
I hear you on the life thing, MOWC. Life would be great if I didn’t have to work and well, stuff.
How about a $300 pair of running tights?

I am a free person!!! Submitted my assignment last night. Phew. I can now get the house ready for the holidays.
Holy sheesh! Even I wouldn’t buy them! Congrats on being free, Bunsen.
I have a feeling those tights will be marked down a lot after Christmas.
I am definitely not cool enough for those. Even on sale! Nike had a “flash” jacket similarly priced - didn’t see it go on sale. I think there are actually people who will pay those prices!
