Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

I did a 4 mile interval run last night and it wiped me out. I am not much of a sprinter. Hoping to get a longer run in tonight as our forecast for Wednesday and Thursday looks awful.

So glad to know that others feel the same way about the meditative aspects of yoga. I can’t shut the noises off in my brain. I have the same problem at night trying to fall asleep.

BunsenBurner-you are hilarious with your late night step efforts! Isn’t it funny how these little devices can control our behaviour?!

Sabaray-I am in awe of all your pilates and barre classes. You must have a really solid core with all your hard work.

MOWC-I had also been wondering how your son is doing. I hope you’re successful in recouping his medical expenses. Will he be able to participate in the Puerto Rico triathalon he had been training for?

Another person wondering about your S MOWC and hoping a good recovery for him. And of that $6000 in dental work!

Did a mile and a half on the treadmill today, the first I’ve done since my foot problems. When I was running no foot pain but it’s sore now. If everything goes well, I’m going to try and ski on Wednesday. I have a dentist appointment near a trail so I plan on popping over there to try.

He does plan to go to Puerto Rico for the 70.3. He won’t do great since he lost so much swimming time, but he’ll compete. It will be his first real triathlon since Kona 2013.

In a rare development, I am very sick with a stomach bug or something. I haven’t had this in about 8 years! I thought it was food or a reaction to my antibiotic, but it’s bad. I barely made it through a 3.1 mile run yesterday afternoon before throwing up. I then thought I was ok enough to go back downtown to the big sales meeting dinner. That was a mistake. I bailed during the cocktail hour and came home. Kept some fluids down.

My boss was doing his big presentation at 7:30am today. I got up, got mostly ready and was too weak to go. Back to bed. I really wanted to go.

It is so strange to not have any appetite. The streak is in jeopardy. I REALLY did not want to run yesterday afternoon- more than the usual not feeling like running. I didn’t know I was sick, though. I ha

That sounds awful, MOWC - one of our attorneys is out with something that sounds very similar. I hope you feel better soon but it sounds like you need the rest.

Oh no, MOfWC! I heard of Norovirus popping up here and there. Hang in there. Rest and fluids!

Yes, Norovirus is rearing its ugly head at many, many places. UMich has been hit HARD. I hope that’s not what you have because it feels like death (but luckily it’s over in about 24 hours).

Please feel better!

That’s what I was thinking - Norovirus.

"Symptoms include dizziness, nausea and in extreme cases the development of noticeable leg length discrepancies caused by the constant efforts of the outside leg to catch up to the inside leg. "

Lol!! That’s what has been affecting my cats! Too much running in circles around the kitchen island makes them nauseous, so that’s why they barf! And their legs do look distorted.

I think it might be norovirus. I’m sad that I’m not invincible after all!

That virus is really going around. Went out to dinner Sunday night with a load of family members to celebrate my son’s birthday and my brother-in-law got sick later that night. Same symptoms.

MOfWC, ugh, hang in there - even the Superman would not be able to thwart that little bug. It is so contageous and nasty!! Your coworkers probably are profusely thankful that you are not in the office today.

MOWC - Drag yourself and a bucket to the treadmill for 1/4 mile to keep the streak going!

Ohio- thank you for that! I am getting stern disapproval from everyone else! Husband understands. I’m just weak right now. I figure by evening news time I can eke out a slow mile.

MOWC-I’m rooting for you to get that mile in this evening! Sorry to hear that you are so ill. Norovirus is highly contagious, any idea where you got it from?

MOfWC, I completely understand the streak thing, so you have my approval to try a slow mile if you feel up to it. The worst what can happen… Yeah, the bucket is a good idea.

I really don’t know where I got it. I’m out and about a lot- but I wasn’t really on Sunday when the timing would have been right. I ate at a couple of places on Saturday, gassed up the truck Sunday (gas pumps and keypads can be really germy) and was at the convention center yesterday. My hands are in my eyes a lot, with the 4 times a day drops and removing my contact lens for the drops, and my immune system might have been compromised from the cold.

Based on what you said, you could have picked it up anywhere on that route! That thing is the glitter of viruses - it just sticks.

I have 691 steps on my Fitbit today!

I have been sanitizing my hands like crazy and spending the least amount of time on campus as possible. I refuse to get this thing.

(I say as I live with two people who both work with kids…)

Hang in there, MOWC. Not that I in any way hope it is the Norovirus but at least if it is, it passes quickly.

“I have 691 steps on my Fitbit today!”

That’s more than what I had on my by this time of the day last Saturday! Hope you will be back in the saddle soon. Personally, if I had to choose, I would just try to keep the streak alive and forget about the 10,000 steps for today if I were so sick.
