Yay, MOWC! You did it! Here’s hoping for a better tomorrow.
I have 2 doctors appointments and PT tomorrow but I think… maybe… just maybe… I’m going to go to the gym with my roommate for the first time since getting sick. Just for some light treadmill work but it’s still a huge step.
I’m on spring “break” now so I have a little reprieve from research and reading. Hopefully that should help with the fatigue and let me work out a little
Never mind I take back the gym. It’s already snowing here and the roads are icy. Not supposed to let up until tomorrow. Doctors and straight home for me today.
@Fallgirl, I meant to comment on your Fitbit issues last night - so sorry. I have been having trouble with mine syncing - I’ve had to attached it to the charger thingy and hold the button down for 10-15 seconds to reset - works like a charm but wish they’d get the issue fixed!!!
It’s a mess out there today - and isn’t going to improve! Rain, wind, sleet - forecast ALL day and turning to a little snow overnight and tomorrow. Going to be a challenge to get steps in today - I’ve decided I will need to get them at work so I have a master plan to get some walking in. Between the wet shorter pup walk this morning and a walk across campus (we have a tunnel system) to get a nonfat chai latte I’m at close to 4000. Determined to avoid the Cinderella Fitbit syndrome at home tonight!
Power yoga today and a short (1 mile) walk with the puppy this am. Rain and sleet here this am. PI’m not bothered by the meditative aspects of yoga–at first it annoyed me but now I see it as a way to clear my mind of clutter and zone out for a few seconds. I always feel a sense of well being when I leave yoga–which is a big plus because I am a world-class worrier!
I slipped on the ice right after PT. Luckily, nothing is broken but I’m pretty bruised and I smashed my knee up :(.
I think this is nature’s way of telling me to hibernate until the snow is done on Friday. :">
Also… today I learned that if you’re going to fall and hurt yourself (which I do more often than I’d like to admit…), right outside of a clinic isn’t a bad place to do it
MOWC, glad to hear you’re recovering. Hope you’re doing even better now!
Oh no Romani. I HATE falls! Glad you are mainly OK.
I am still very weak. I ate a bagel for breakfast and about 1/3 of a Chipolte burrito (not the typical “just back from the stomach flu” meal - especially with the chain’s health issues) for lunch. Ran a very slow 3.1 on the treadmill. It never felt comfortable. I’m just still too weak. But- I did it. I’m afraid I’m going to have to go back to work tomorrow and stop lawyering from the bed.
Not to be outdone by Romani, I managed to fall out of my desk chair trying to reach around for the trashcan. (I have a kneeling chair.) It was a very graceless move. I’m OK, though. Banged my ankle but no permanent damage! No one witnessed this move.
I started to bemoan what is going to be low February mileage and a setback on the 2016 in 2016 goal (which I can catch up on- for sure), but I reminded myself that we can only control the things that are controllable, and illness is not controllable. That’s why it’s important to me to take advantage of the days I’m healthy and uninjured! I’m also very grateful I had the sense to NOT register for the horrific, hilly half marathon that is 90 minutes away this Saturday even though the race director is a good friend of mine. I was just piling too much on my plate that day and now I would have never made it!
No worries, @abasket. I am hibernating. I hope you’re missing the worst of it.
I’ve been doing some shoulder/arm exercises lately to just get myself moving even with the pained knees. I’m hoping that it helps when I get back in the water to not be so sore the next day.
The PT has been going well I think. My knees are definitely already feeling better (I just hope I haven’t screwed them up too much with this fall…) .
