MOWC, congratulations on the end of shots! Best wishes for good test results going forward.
I had a terrible night. My meds are causing pretty bad side effects and I was up all night in pain. They’re going to try me on a different RA med but right now my options are be up all night with joint pain or up with stomach problems.
With that said, joints feel pretty good today. I’m up and around and already over 3k steps
At a dog thing all weekend–and a) managed not to eat too much junk, b) got 30K steps Saturday and 23K steps Sunday, c) didn’t struggle to keep up with my dog, d) didn’t trash my knees (they didn’t hurt this morning), and e) had a good time. Another dog weekend coming up this weekend.
Two weekends from now I have a 10K trail run (in the coastal mountains of central OR, gorgeous run). DD and I both entered, but she’s nursing a sore arch and I’m wondering if we should just scratch… it’s a three-hour drive and I’m not sure I’m willing to do it alone.
Wow, that’s a lot of steps DMD! 53K over two days! That run sounds gorgeous. A trip to Oregon where we visited Pendleton, Portland and Cannon Beach remains one of my most gorgeous scenic trips!
Had to take a little walk and enjoy the sunshine and 60 at lunchtime - getting fresh air for just 15 minutes is really, REALLY a good thing for me at work. Sanity saver!
Came home and ran 3.5 - such a pleasure not to bundle up!
Agree! Was pretty today so I got in a nice walk. I think H and I may do our inaugural tandem bike ride tomorrow as its expected to be about 65 degrees!
My hat is off to all of you who commit to fitness while working full time. The only reason I can have the bandwidth to focus on healthy eating and fitness is that I’m no longer working.
So happy you’re done with the shots, MoWC. Fingers crossed for strength and positives in your scans.
Great job, Ohio! I think you represent us quite well.
Hope your FIL had a happy birthday celebration, C3B.
Enjoy your sunshine and warmth, abasket. After experiencing by brief winter cold snap up north this year, I know you deserve it.
That is a ton of steps, dmd!
5 mile run this morning. It was in the upper 50’s with a slight breeze. We won’t have too many more opportunities like this until late fall, so I got up and out in a hurry. More walking today with H, and I’m up over 20K steps. We gave our dd a fitbit for her birthday; Already she’s caught the fever. She hiked in Washington over the weekend and reported back that on her shortish hike to see the Bridal Veil she earned over 110 flights of stairs and a bunch of steps. That’s such a contrast to my miles, like this morning’s for example, that show a change in elevation of 20 feet.
We are having nice weather here as well - of course, during the week when I have to work!
Romani, I’m glad you’re feeling better today - I know you’ll have ups and downs but hopefully a regimen can be established that will give you some relief.
Physically very tired today - I think I overdid it. My hip flexors were very tight after running Saturday, but I stretched thoroughly and foam rolled. Sunday I went to TRX/Pilates combo and that was rough. I felt okay today, but went to my usual Pilates class and again, my hip flexors are very tight. Not sure what else I can do to strengthen/stretch them out. I compared elevation/grade from Saturday to the race on the 19th and I don’t think it will be as challenging. At least I hope not!
Pup walks to get my 10,000 steps in today; will probably try to run a few miles tomorrow.
Thanks, all. I have been cranky all day from lack of sleep.
The weather here is gorgeous and I hit nearly 6k steps! Mr R and I took pup on a walk (a very small one with me and a longer one with just the two of them). She was soooo happy to be out and about.
I’m off one of my RA meds that the Rheum thinks is causing the bulk of my symptoms. So it’s back to joint pain probably but I’ll take that over stomach issues
I found out from my mom that my dad checked out books from the library about Lupus because he wants to learn everything he can. I don’t think my dad has read a book since I’ve been alive. He reads all day, but he reads the news. I started crying when she told me that. He’s also coming down for the week to take me to my first infusion treatments and help around the house. Mr R has been swamped at work (2 of his coworkers quit out of the blue and it’s a small childcare center) and my roommate is going to see his grandmother who will likely not be with us much longer. Needless to say, I am incredibly grateful for the help.
I’m also meeting with my advisor on Thursday to talk about a modified PhD schedule. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do this but I’m realizing that I’m not going to meet the deadlines set up. My professors have all been on board with accommodations so now I just have to let the rest of the department know what’s going on. (Though it’s a small department and word spreads like wildfire so I’m sure everyone knows and is just waiting until I bring it up.)
All in all, I’m still just taking it one day at a time.
Ran 0.6 miles outside. I can run a lot more (1.6 miles) inside on the treadmill, but I understand that’s not unusual. Pace was 10.57 min/mile according to Map My Run.
Hope to get outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather today.
I ran 5.25 miles last night after work - it was wonderful to run in the warmer temperatures. I was a little slower than usual, I think I was still feeling the effects of Saturday’s long run. Tonight is another run but I’m not sure of the distance. I have a late meeting at work so I will be late getting out of here. I’m looking forward to next week when there will be daylight for an extra hour in the evening. I am really enjoying these unseasonably warm temperatures this week.
Pizzagirl - I think you are living my retirement dream! I’m glad you’re enjoying doing the things you want to do.
sabaray - I hope you’re feeling better today and that your hip flexors loosen up. What distance is your race on the 19th?
Plantmom - it’s great that your daughter is enjoying her Fitbit!
C3Baker - it’s a 10 miler, which is a new distance for me. I haven’t really been training, per se, so am just going to treat it as a long run. I live in a pretty hilly area but the course runs through an area I am familiar with. The course organizers want people to be successful and enjoy it, so there are lots of pointers and tips on “when to go for it” and “when to hold back”. I might have to write those tips on my arm!
Sabaray - I think a 10 miler is one of my favorite distances for a race. I know it’s not a common distance, but I really like anything from a 15K to a Half the best. I love that they are giving you pointers for the course - I would really need that in an unfamiliar area, especially with hills I’m not used to. I hope you have a great race! I will be running a Half on that day, so I’ll be thinking of you!
I continue with the same, about 2 hours of exercise every day, including vacations. I love it and miss it a lot when I cannot do some of it. It is very addictive to feel good. My weight has nothing to do with it though. It all depends on my eating habits which gradually change over time. Since we stop vacationing at all inclusives, my weight is more stable, I believe that it is going down slowly, all by itself, I even stopped weighing myself every day, I am not focusing on weight any more. Since I stopped shopping for clothes and everything still fits, it is good enough indication for me.
Weather is gorgeous at our place. Stay active!
