Thank you everyone for your good wishes. Eve Luna, born on March 9 @ 10:00 pm after labor started at 3:00 am. My D-I-L is the toughest person I know. 7 lb 3 oz. Baby and mom are doing great. They’ll be home on Friday. There are now four generations all living near each other. Family events are really going to be a zoo now, lol.
Congrats!!!
What an absolutely beautiful name. Congratulations and best wishes to the momma.
Mazel tov!
Congratulations to everyone in the family, Michael! What an exciting time. Try not to spoil her too much…she probably doesn’t need a road bike just yet!
Terrific, Michael! Congratulations to all!
Congrats to all , Michael! Have fun with your new granddaughter.
Thank you everyone! Yes, no road bike this weekend at least. But maybe a pink jujitsu gi?
Congratulations Michael! So happy for the new baby and glad both the baby and mom are doing well. It’s so wonderful that you have four generations living nearby. And I love her name - just beautiful.
No formal exercise yesterday, I just couldn’t bring myself to run in the rain last night. It did let up a little bit to a light rain after a while, but we had eaten dinner at that point and I just didn’t want to go out then. Tonight is a workout at the gym with my trainer.
Pizzagirl - I’m really glad that you listened to your body and went into slug mode. You really have been pushing yourself so hard.
What great news to see this morning. Welcome to the world Eve Luna!
Hello to all! In spite of being a sporadic poster on this thread lately, (honestly – this thing moves SO fast!) I’ve been much more consistent with my exercising. I’ve been doing my usual 12 - 15 miles/week running, along with other cardio on my “off” days. I’ve also been able to keep my eating under control, so have lost 8+ lbs since the start of the year. At times I’m disappointed the weight isn’t coming off faster, but at least it’s in the right direction. All this even with 10 days in FL. (Per H, any time away from home = license to eat, so not going down that road can be a challenge for me.)
Today, though, I’m taking a pass from the gym – my left foot is bothering me quite a bit. It almost feels like when I broke a bone in that same foot 2 years ago – except I haven’t done anything to re-injure it. IMO, at this point in my life it’s better to let things heal a bit. I know I won’t fall off the (exercise) wagon.
A while back I mentioned I had “discovered” the Wellcoin App that rewards you for exercise, eating, right, etc. It’s supposed to sync automatically with various fitness trackers, including the Fitbit. Initially, it didn’t seem as if anything was syncing for me, so I sort of forgot about it. More recently I checked, and it works! I’ve earned $20.00 off at Whole Foods – and this is just from exercising. I would earn more if I also tracked food, which I don’t do on a regular basis.
Congrats to @Pizzagirl on your retirement! Healing and strength to all in need, especially @romanigypsyeyes. Also, congratulations to @MichaelNKat and family! Let the (grandparenting) fun begin!!
My body has been screaming at me all week after last weekend’s run - so Tuesday and Wednesday were nothing but stretching, foam rolling and pup walks. Today I had a scheduled session with my trainer - we did quite a bit of stretching and hip openers on the Cadillac - really seemed to help. My group is planning another 10 miler this weekend before the race - I’m not sure that’s a good idea for me but am going to wait and see what the route they’re planning is. I had thought 8 would be reasonable. These women are all more experienced than I am - but I’m just not sure there’s any point to another punishing run right before the race.
So Wed night I actually fell asleep early and missed fluid running. This morning I did strength training and my trainer said I was pushing myself too hard with what was effectively 4.5 hours of exercise Mon and 5 hours Tues. which I kind of knew but sometimes need to be hit over the head with. So anyway, since I missed fluid running, there was a makeup class this morning and I thought I’ll do that and my trainer agreed that would be ok.
The way my gym is set up, you can buy a fitness membership and/or a pool membership. I only have a fitness membership so I don’t have pool access except for the fluid running classes. However - I realized that since I was done weights at 8 am, and fluid running didn’t start til 8:30, I could go into the pool area (where I’m normally “forbidden”) and use the whirlpool for a half hour. Aaaah! Momma didn’t raise no dummies! I think I may try this strategy in the future!
Congrats MNKat. At least start the grandchild out with a fat tire bike. Wonder how many extra calories a 100 mile bike ride would be with a grandchild in a child carrier?
I worked long hours the last 3 days and didn’t get home in time for yoga. Working at home today, but started/ending early due to plans tonight (open house at S’s HS after major renovation). I have been running/walking in the morning though. I rarely go more than 2 days between classes and miss it.
I am a small bit concerned as my ankle is hurting me. It will be fine and then suddenly I feel a sharp pain in a specific spot. This is the ankle in which I had a small “greenstick” fracture about 10 years ago. Doesn’t hurt as bad as when it was broken, but I will take it easy for a few days.
Congratulations for the new baby, mom, and grandparents, Michael!
I’m glad your fitness efforts are paying off, CBB. 8 Pound Party!
Love your gym smarts, pizzagirl.
Today is a rest day for me–little exercise, medical appointment, haircut, and catch-up on assorted paperwork. It’ll be walking only, and probably not too many steps at that. I got the results of my Calcium Score test indicating I have no calcification evident at this time; With the family history, that’s a bit of relief. I also had the annual mammogram this morning, and as always with this test, I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
@MichaelNKat – let me join the rest in congratulating you! How exciting!
I got a short, very early run in on the treadmill before a flight to Florida. I’m going to do a little more once the sun gets a little lower and I’m sure my basketball team is going to win. I’m trying out some fun new shoes that I got a deal on. They are really pricey and very strange. Nike Lunarepic Flyknit. Mine are bright yellow. Sort of the anti-Hoka.
Must. Look. Up. Those!
Enjoy Florida!!! Florida sounds really nice after the last night’s windstorm. It is still windy and icky outside.
Did a yoga class so the count for today is weights, fluid running and yoga. I’m stopping now :-). It’s frustrating though because I’ve still got some smooshy stuff at my waist, go figure!
