abasket, here’s a comparison of a KIND Dark Chocolate Nuts and Sea Salt Bar (40 gram serving) and a goodnessknows apple, almond and peanut, dark chocolate bar (34 gram serving).
KIND 200 calories, Total Fat 15g; Sat Fat 3g; Trans Fat 0g; Sodium 125mg; Potassium 210 mg; Total Carb 16g; Dietary Fiber 7g; Sugars 5g; Protein 6g Vitamin A 0%; Calcium 6%; Vit E 25%; Mg 15%; Mn 30%; Vit C 0%; Iron 8%; P 10%; Cu 15%
goodnessknows: calories 150; Total Fat 7g; Sat Fat 2g; Trans Fat 0g; Monounsaturated Fat 3.5 g; Polyunsat Fat 1/5 g; Sodium 45mg’ Potassium 120mg; Total Carb 22g; Dietary Fiber 2g; Sugars 12g; Protein 3g. Vita A 0%; Vit C 10%; Ca 2%; Fe 4%.
It’s probably not the best comparison because I have a nut and chocolate bar compared to a dried fruit, nut, and chocolate bar. The biggest difference is in the carb and sugar content; goodnessknows is a lot sweeter because of the dried fruit and the sugars added to the fruits, grains, and directly to the bar. The KIND bar, although more caloric, is lower in added sugar, has no dairy, and more added fiber. It does have sugar added, though not as much. The fat content on the KIND bar is much higher but that’s because it has more nuts.
In conclusion… KIND looks to have more healthful ingredients, isn’t as sweet. goodnessknows bars, although they do have dried fruit (sugared dried fruit at that) are on a par, nutritionally, with a sweet and salty peanut granola bar Considering the additional heft KIND bar, goodnessknows is truly sugar packed. No wonder I crave them like a candy bar. Back to KIND after I finish these.
Painted the last stroke on that dang dining room of mine after work - the french doors were last and were a KILLER. Celebrated by taking a 3 mile walk in the brisk wind.
Still really far behind here. Besides busy at work, both kids were home and MIL is visiting.
I have managed to get in some sort of activity every day but one. And I ran a mile outside this AM. I followed that with a 2 mile walk then took the 22 flights of steps up to the office.
Other than a few puppy walks, I have spent the last 5 days packing up the guest house at our vacation place so we the painters can paint the entire interior. We moved everything except the heaviest pieces of furniture and removed everything from the walls and also removed 25 wooden blinds and hardware for it–going to change the window treatment! I met my step goal every day–and do have some sore muscles. Finally finished today!!
22 flights of steps sounds like a workout of its own and gives skipping the elevator a new meaning, FallGirl.
I ran a bit over 4.5 this morning. FitBit crashed again at 3.44 miles. The only other app I had open was music, and I’m not giving that up. I took a late afternoon trip over to Sports Authority and picked up a new Nike bra and a couple of tops on sale. Fortification for the mom helping a kiddo with a broken heart
Got to class early and decided to go for a walk instead of catching up on the reading. Smart move! Except that I went to Fleet Feet to see if they got a new shipment of Oofos in and ended at the Molly Moons next door. LOL. But I only had one scoop!
10,000 steps and 50 floors. Plus my pushups and weights. I feel the itch to do more! Tomorrow, I shall explore the CorePower place.
Kid broken hearts are almost as bad on a parent as they are on the kid. Sorry you’re both going through this PlantMom.
Hey BB, you have been so committed to your daily push-ups! Looking for more of a challenge now? Have you tried 'em with your feet elevated on a chair or on your bed (increased load) or on a BOSU or stability ball (increased core involvement and with the ball also increased load)? Guaranteed to keep things interesting!
This morning will be a test of my functional fitness - Sabadog visits the vet! While he loves our vet (as in, he barks in the waiting room to announce his arrival to her - barking is not something he does), he gets very excited. He also wants to greet everyone. Everyone. Wish me luck.
I thought of Bunsen during class yesterday - we did three kinds of pushups. With our hands together, kind of shaping a triangle, tricep pushups, and then elbows wide. Not sure of the proper technical terms here, but it is hard.
Lol, sabaray, ain’t that the truth. Actually, it was just after 6 a.m. here when I posted that. I was awakened by my daughter texting me about the plane and hotel reservations we have for the Spinning and fitness convention we are going to in June.
And yeah, those variations of hand and elbow positioning do keep things interesting by hitting your pecs, triceps and shoulders differently! The triangles are often called diamond push-ups. The others don’t have any particular name I’m aware of other than tricep push-ups and wide push-ups. There are some variations that do have notable names like Archer push-ups (one arm extended far out to the side like you are laying on the floor holding a bow) and Jack Lalanne push-ups, immortalized by the great Jack Lalanne that looks like a push-up version of dancing the worm with your arms and legs extended straight out in front and behind. Talk about killers!
I did 3.7 miles on the hotel treadmill last night but it was a terrible day eating-wise. Hopefully today will be a better day. I’m not looking forward to the long drive home tonight. I need to run a few miles after I get home, also.
I hope sabadog had a good visit to the vet. I’m sure that Everyone was happy to be greeted by him!
Happy to report that Sabadog is very fit and very healthy! While he had put on a few pounds, the vet observed his very muscular condition and didn’t feel weight gain was an issue for him, unlike Sabapup’s weight issues. She is far more active than he is - while they both get the same amount of walks, she’ll play fetch for hours while he’s content to relax in the yard. What’s interesting is that she is spayed and he is not neutered - wonder if hormones come into play at all there. Just another way women have it harder!
I have a TRX class scheduled this afternoon and then might actually cancel the classes I have scheduled for tomorrow. A rest day might be of benefit.
We have a (current) 7 day outlook of dry weather and much sun - SOO excited! And temps gradually climbing to 70- heaven! Can’t wait to get outside again for more than a short time! So much to do!
Added 5 minutes to my Arc Machine workout this morning – so 50 minutes total. Then 1+ miles walking. Pouring rain here at the moment, but supposed to be done by early evening, and then we’re in for some nice weather. Yay!!
Ha, ha @sabaray – I get to take our pup to the vet tomorrow for her annual check-up. She’ll be dragging me into the office, tail wagging wildly.
Additional exercise this morning as I clean/vacuum before my father arrives for an overnight visit. We’re doing a “field trip” with him to the Apple store so he can buy an iPad. Clearly he could do this himself, but he seems to believe he can’t. But, this way we get to visit before we leave for Asia, so it’s all good. D & fiance are coming over for dinner tonight.
