Sounds like a productive appt Romani! Now, off to that pool! Slow but steady beats this race!
I had to laugh at Sunrise Yoga becoming “Surprise!” Yoga!
Sabaray, I know you said that scheduling is part of the problem but also have you said you just don’t “love” the easy flow yoga? I wonder if you didn’t think of it as exercise - for you, plan on it being just mental health time, instead of reading a book time, instead of watching tv time - NOT exercise time. I also think (because I am in the same place with the easy flow my workplace gym offers) that you have to give it time (like more than a couple weeks!) for the relaxation to happen. That’s my unprofessional opinion.
Deb, sounds like a smart move canceling the 10k - do what you want as it feels right but don’t set yourself up for disappointment - or more injury - May is just around the corner! Yikes!
So… follow-up question. Predictably, my bathing suits no longer fit :"> Actually, the bottom pieces do but not the top since almost all of my near-50 lb weight gain ( ) has been in my stomach. (Essentially, I look- and feel- like I’m pregnant. On a related note, I have no idea how women do this during pregnancy! I have a whole new level of respect for mommas.)
So I need a new bathing suit top but I need one with good “top” support (large chest) and hopefully one that I can keep for a while as my stomach begins to shrink. Does anyone have any suggestions? Even just suggestions for stores would be very helpful. (I haven’t been shopping for a bathing suit in quite a long time…) I’m solidly in the plus size category now… maybe I should even try a maternity suit?
I’d say no to the maternity suit - not yet!! There should be plenty of plus sized suits which will probably do well for you. Are you looking for like a tankini style or a one piece , or…???
I like the Athleta suits too and think they make a good, well made suit. A little more pricey, but you could maybe go to a local store and do some trying on .
@Sabaray If you want a more meditative type of yoga, see if you can find a studio that offers Yoga Nidra–it is totally meditative. One of the teachers on the yoga retreat I attended was doing the training for this and she led the evening class a few times. It was a relax and restore class in which she incorporated elements of Yoga Nidra. At first I found it difficult and my mind wandered but after the first few days, I found it relaxing.
Last day of packing and moving furniture!! H and I are going to Philadelphia to visit youngest D on Thursday. She’s going to take me to her yoga studio.
Phew! 3.5 miles on my Precor. It got rainy and really miserable by the time I got home, so no outside running.
@deb922 - smart move on scratching the 10k. I know how that feels… I had to scratch Boston after my knee fiasco. I was back into running by February, but there was no way I could have trained for Boston in 2 months.
This afternoon was the beginning of my Tuesday/Thursday race training rides with members of the women’s race team I sponsor. All the rides will be under 2 hrs long and consist of structured high intensity intervals with specific heart rate, wattage and duration goals for each interval. Tonight was 4x10 at 85-90% FTP or Lactic Threshold but because of the topography there were times my wattage was hitting 150% FTP or more. So hard but so much fun. By the time we were done with the work and recovery intervals and warmup and cool down, we had about an hour and fifty minutes riding time. MOWC, the only problem was that I drove to our departure point but we did ride to the neighborhood where we were doing a circuit course (inside joke for those following another particular thread, lol).
If I get my step count to 16,000, I will have only a 1,000 step deficit at this point for the week (because I sat on my butt all day long Sunday, I only managed to get to 3,000 steps)! What can I do to get the last couple of hundreds of steps done? A-ha! I can take the laundry downstairs!
@romanigypsyeyes, remember you can always wear a “rash guard” shirt over whatever top you finally decide on, which will give you more coverage to minimize the chance of a lupus flare AND give more coverage than a lot of tops might. They come in long and short sleeve styles. They’re comfortable and can change with your mood and size, as you shrink! Here’s a link.
Got out for my horrible hill miles this morning - I have to think that running on tired legs will have some benefit later on. At least that’s what I’m hoping! Nice weather to run today - around 40 and clear.
My steps are kind of pitiful for this week with spending a good part of the day Monday and Tuesday in the car. I did get home just before dark last night so I got a nice 3.5 mile run in.
sabaray - good job conquering the horrible hill. Congrats on tapering off the antidepressant, I hope you’re able to find a yoga class that helps you. I agree on the difficulty of scheduling logistics. The classes that seem interesting to me are never offered at quite the right times. It can be frustrating!
sabaray is my inspiration for morning running and not being afraid of hills!
Short 1.5 miles this morning since I have the company 5K this afternoon. I have a scary eye appt this morning and I wanted to do the streak mile in case he does something and says I can’t run for a day or so.
Listen, if I was faster I’d run when it was light. This way no one sees the stampeding turtle!
Seriously though, my day just goes better if I start with exercise. I used to tell myself I’d do it after work - well, the pups have other ideas. And honestly, there’s more traffic and rude people who feel obligated to make comments from their vehicles. “Why yes, I know I’m pretty slow and yes, I do have large breasts! Thank you for pointing that out!” So, morning just works better. And I am honestly flattered to be inspiration to anyone, but particularly MOWC!
