Coming up with menus is really a challenge, especially when you feel (as I do often) that you’re stuck in a rut. I sometimes become bored with my own offerings of chicken, chicken, or…chicken here :? I would like to hear how “Plated” goes for you, sabaray. I talked to a woman today who was doing a trial of Blue Apron. She thought the menus were limited, although in the same breath she also said she was a pescatarian which complicates matters.

romani, your hot tub will feel pretty good on your joints. So great your dad could fix yours.

One of our friends, a young woman my DD’s age, competed in Boston for the first time. She finished in 3:25 with a 7:46 min/mi pace. It’s hard for me to imagine running that fast for a quarter mile, never mind marathon distance, well really, never mind that distance at any pace! Very inspiring to watch all of the athletes competing.

I ran this morning for 5K. It was in the mid-70s and humid–oh it felt so hard; but I’m going to the theater tonight–opera-- so I will be sitting for a good long while.

I walked 3.4 miles to the bus stop this morning, but the dagnabbit Fitbit did not register it all.

I am so blessed that Mr. B eats almost anything! Well, he does not eat chocolate cakes and cookies, and that’s pretty much his “off” list. Our meals most of the time are very simple: grilled something proteinacious and a veggie of some sort. Or the two stir-fried together. Or made into a soup. Periodically, I think about making something new and exciting… Then I quickly change my mind. I would be curious to hear about your experiment, sabaray!

Another doctor’s visit, another problem, another medicine. For those keeping track, that’s now 12 meds I’m on daily (most of which are more than one pill) :stuck_out_tongue:

Kidding aside though, my resting pulse rate is still consistently around 120-130 bpm. We haven’t received the holter monitor results yet but my PCP put me on something to lower my heart rate. She’s hoping this will help with the fatigue, too.

I’m feeling much more energetic and mentally better. I’ve noticed a pretty drastic uptick in the last week or so with energy and mood. Unfortunately, my body still isn’t quite following suit but that’s ok. We’ll get there. It’s just annoying because the pain has settled low in my back and my hips so every step feels like I’m being stabbed in the lower back :frowning:

Now I’m just waiting for the sun to set to start my hot tub exercises.

I forgot to put on my Fitbit this morning before walking the dogs, so missed a lot of steps that I’m just not going to worry about. It has been incredibly smoky and hazy here. In addition to the smoke from the fire, there is just a ton of pollen everywhere. Hopefully I can run Saturday. Today was Pilates Circuit class, a lot of fun. It’s usually the same women and while it’s challenging it’s nice to try new things. I am almost to the end of the studio challenge - will finish up with 30 sessions during the month of April. You could do 20, 25 or 30 - and you know me, the overachiever!

I exercised my bank account today and ordered the Brooks Transcend and a pair of North Face shorts to try out. I also ordered a pair of the Align crops (D has a pair of the full tight and they are so soft and comfy I just had to have some) - I got the rosewood color; one of the Ta-Ta Tamers that I know I really like and a simple black singlet.

Retail therapy is good for the soul Sabaray!

Nice purchases, sabaray! Let me know how you like the Align crops.

Well I did it. I spent about a half hour in the hot tub and worked out for a good 20 minutes. I know it’s not a lot but it’s a start and I’m proud of myself.

My abdominal and thigh muscles are sore… but a good sore- exercise pain and not RA/Lupus pain.

Romani, that’s good news that you were able to do the exercise in your hot tub!

I completely missed the coverage of Boston this year. So I am catching up with the news. There are always heartwarming stories coming out of that race, and this year is no exception.

I had a good 5 mile run last night. The first 4 were at a very fast pace, then I came upon a friend running and dropped to his pace and finished the last mile slowly. It was still a fast overall pace and I felt great. I tried to focus on the things they talked about in the running form clinic on Tuesday - it will take some time to change habits! Tonight is a workout with my trainer at the gym.

BB - Thanks for sharing the Boston story. I always love reading about those kinds of stories.

My foot is hurting somewhat and I think it’s due to my shoes. I bought them (and insoles) at the running store, but I think something needs to be adjusted. I plan to take S there before he goes back to the UK, so I will take the shoes in.
Anyway I took a 3.5+ walk this AM. Back to the intervals tomorrow.

Sabaray - take care with the smoke in the air. Hopefully the fires are not to near to where you are.

I’m being challenged to get my steps in today - ugh! Rain this morning - still took pup for a walk but it was more of a “necessary” walk, not leisurely. Tied down with enough work tasks that I can’t get away to the fitness center though I found time for a 15 minute speed walk through our buildings and tunnel system (still raining). Have to drive to Columbus this afternoon which is going to be MORE sitting time. And suppose to be raining there as well! May be Cinderella-ing at my D’s house tonight where I am spending the night!!!

Rinse and repeat the opposite way tomorrow!

So I’m trying not to jinx anything but I didn’t have any lingering pain from exercising yesterday. After not using those muscles for months, I assumed I’d be sore today but nope!

Still have some pain in my lower back but I am moving about fairly well today.

I have to be careful with the hot tub because I’m on a beta blocker and my blood pressure is already towards the low end. So I’m not keeping it very warm which has the added benefit of letting my dog come in and swim around (thus wiping her out and making the rest of the household happy). And no worries- I checked with my vet to see if this was safe. (By the way, we never had any intention of letting her in the hot tub. She just jumped in the day after we adopted her. It was our first clue that she was, indeed, a water dog lol. Now she whines if I’m in there without her.)

Thunderstorms on and off today so I’ll wait for those to pass before starting day 2 of exercising

I went to the running store yesterday and bought some new trainers. I did a couple of miles in them today and will work them into the rotation.

Thanks for your help.

What did you get, Mater?

Finished my second week of time trial training. This week was 3 X 15 minute work intervals @ 90-95% FTP avg per interval with 5 minutes off in between and total ride time of 2 hours. There were some segments with hills or wind where I was maintaining 150% FTP and not by choice! So much fun but so glad the weekend will relaxed recovery rides!

The saleman asked if had any preferences or biases towards any brands and I don’t. I showed him the shoes I am wearing now because I didn’t want a drastic difference.

He brought out about five or six shoes and I really didn’t look at the brands until I picked the shoe, which is a New Balance 860. I asked if I had to show my AARP card to buy them. He reassured me that they make good trainers. This store is routinely picked as one of top fifty running stores in the nation so I totally trust their opinion.

H and I are opening our vacation house, so my exercise has been mostly moving patio furniture from storage to outside, cleaning it, and doing similar closet chores and cleaning. Got my steps in easily. I also took the puppy to a local dog park (2 mi round trip) yesterday. Earlier in the week–before I got here–I did yoga and worked with the trainer as well as some dog walking.

Session with my trainer this morning - I am definitely feeling more confident with Pilates - it’s amazing how the tiniest movements can be so very challenging! It’s amazing how many exercises and variations there are. Took a Barre class this afternoon with a pup walk after. I am three sessions away from 30 for the month. I can’t wait to get there!

I have been a slug - Tues morn I exercised as usual, came home and felt a cold coming on. Slept most of the day Wednesday. H had a colonoscopy this morn (what fun) so I played nurse and we’ve just hung out, napping, catching up on Prince news, etc. I’m still feeling weak and there’s just no way I’m going to go to a group class and cough/sneeze all over everyone! I hope to be back in the game by Saturday but sometimes you just need to have a 1,000 step day!
