Oh my, Gertrude! Now that awful image is planted in my head, and I cannot stop laughing. Yellow speedos? Those must have been a leftover from some weird custom team apparel order. Hmmm… Maybe he was employing the same strategy as Michael Phelps did when he wore his medals and a speedo to a college basketball game. Distract your competition and win!

Michael Phelps in a Speedo? It quite literally took my breath away. Thanks, BB.

I have to admit that right now I’m feeling kind of smug compared to you all complaining about hills! I run hills pretty much every time I run, since the park-next-door is a hill. (The only extinct volcano fully contained within the city limits of a major American city. The whole city is smug about the park. I’m just smug about running the trails there.) I’m always surprised by how much faster I run when it’s flat and not rocky trails. There’s one section of trail, though, where it’s wide and flat and smooth (and about two hundred yards) and I always run down that section as fast as I can… it makes me feel like I’m twenty-five again. I’m working on getting to where I feel like that more and more of every run.

In Boston for the next couple of days - I think I found where spring has been hiding! Left dreary, rainy, cooler Ohio and arrived here where the sun has been shining fully all day and the temps are hovering around 70. Barely checked in my hotel and headed out for some Massachusetts miles. Five and some change. Easy, enjoyable run -one of my most favorite ever - sure helps to have new stuff to look at - there is a little “stop and go” of course in the city but it was wonderful. Came back, showered and then headed out for an hour and a half walk. Hopefully burning off lots of calories to help counteract the “heavy appetizers” at my first meeting event tonight.

^^^ @abasket You got lucky–last week it was cold, rainy, and gray in the Boston area and temps were in the low 40s. Did a 2 mile walk this evening, after 4 hours of gardening this morning–planting ground covers and a couple of small cypress trees (dwarf Hinoki cypress).

Lol Bunsen - it was quite a site. He did not have Michael Phelps’s physique.

Forgot to add: Enjoy your trip @fireandrain!!

For folks who look for non-sugary snacks.

Bought a large bag of cheddar ones at Costco! Crunchy and cheesy and is made of identifiable ingredients.

Always good to be able to identify what you’re eating BB :D.

Well those look good but I doubt they’re going to make their way to my neck of the woods any time soon, sadly. I have noticed an increasing amount of healthier snack options - yet for some reason, our Costco thinks we prefer huge tubs of pretzel/mystery cheese puff snacks.

Went to circuit class yesterday, which was tough for me. Keeping track of the exercises are difficult for me as we rotate around. I need to boost my brain power! Just had a 30 minute run this morning which was miserable - our humidity is through the roof and it was already 60 degrees at 5:30. No running tomorrow but I have a session with my trainer - already debating the wisdom of that decision!

Those treats look right up my alley - I’ll look out for them BB!

I’ll have to see if our Costco sells those. I like a crunchy texture snack.

“Always good to be able to identify what you’re eating BB .”

No kidding. I once looked at the wrapper of the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich… No thanks.

Gorgeous day today! Going for a lunchtime walk. I wish I could run during my lunch break, but the logistics are just a bit too overwhelming.

I had a very tough 5 mile run last night. It was in the 80s and very muggy, this heat and humidity is going to take some time to re-acclimate to. Again today I seem to be in non-stop eating mode. I need to get a grip!

Looks as if more rain is headed our way this evening. That’s OK, no run planned, it is workout at the gym with my trainer tonight.

BB, yeah, the Skinny Cow stuff is so disappointing. Looks so appealing but when you read the label, yuck! Even worse is the Weight Watchers brand foods. It comes out of a test tube.

Had a cracked molar extracted today. No exercise that raises my blood pressure permitted until Sunday to avoid bleeding. I tried to explain that not exercising until Sunday would raise my blood pressure even more due to my mental state but got nowhere with that. It will be interesting, however, to see whether I come back stronger after a few days off. Nothing like forced recovery, lol.

Ouch - tooth extractions never fun! Better eat some cold, creamy ice cream.

People at work buy those Skinny Cow ice cream treats - you would think they were eating a bowl of asparagus the way they brag about how “healthy” they are - and then eat 3 at a time!

One bad thing about conferences is all the sitting - and the snacks. Actually the snacks weren’t all that stellar today though I was thrilled to find Stonyfield yogurt (my fav), a nut based granola and fruit for breakfast - and scones. That was my splurge. Our meeting spot is a good mile walk from the hotel - walked there and back today and will leave in a bit - another 1.25 miles to our scheduled dinner spot. At least I’ll get my steps in!

I’m glad I’m not the only one struggling with the humidity. Thankfully it hasn’t been that warm but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. I too have done nothing but eat after saying I was going to cut back!

My Garmin arrived, now I just need to figure out how to set it up. I still look back fondly on the days when you actually got a user’s manual!

Michael, perhaps some forced recovery is just what you need. How about some relaxing meditation or yoga? ;))

Lol, Michael. Just like sabaray, I was going to suggest some meditative yoga.

If I sat still and meditated, I’d fall asleep in 30 seconds! Maybe that’s what I really need - just lay out on my deck, in the sun and listen to the birds. Nap time!! Can’t even do yoga :(. Not allowed to position my body in a way that causes the blood to “rush” to my head.

@MichaelNKat – I assume stretching is permitted? And walking shouldn’t raise your blood pressure. A few walks every day should at least keep you from being completely restless.

Birdwatching is very calming for Mr. Sabaray. Last night we had an indigo blue bunting and two pairs of rose breasted grosbeaks at our feeders. In all seriousness, Michael, hope you are on the road to recovery soon. Dental work is the worst, no question.
