Mine vibrates at 10 minutes to the hour if I haven’t done 250 steps. I’ve been known to talk back to it…
Thanks…will definitely have to do some research!
Congrats, MOfWC, on your successful end of the month.
NMinn, so good to “see” you! Sad to hear that you are having issues. Please do not waste your time on seeing a family doc (unless your insurance requires a referral). Find a sports medicine doc, especially one who is also into running or other exercise. Fingers crossed.
Just remembered… My grandpa used to make this very nutritious, delicious dish which involved a lot of bone boiling (it is the cartilage that generates that gelatinous texture, I believe):

Like Natasha, I would not touch pig feet with a 10 foot pole, but if anyone is brave enough to try making it… More power to you. ![]()
3.7 miles done for National Running Day. (Or is it now Global Running Day?) Beautiful morning here – and I always start my runs here by going around the corner to the beach. Great motivation to get me out the door.
@PlantMom – I didn’t have any problems swapping out my Fitbits; hope yours is up and running by now. I, too, was surprised that it was just the Fitbit itself that showed up – I guess I was expecting an entire new package with a charging cord, etc. I ended up ordering an extra charging cord (3 ft. long) and plug adaptor on Amazon so I can leave 1 cord in MA.
Hope you get that figured out soon nm.
Happy Running Day! Did my training run this AM.
Nice mileage MOWC!
Me too. 6am, run and done! #GlobalRunningDay!!!
It was a bit rushed in the morning but gotta admit, so great that it is done for the day!
Happy Running Day! Lots of runners this morning! Beautiful morning here, still humid though. 4.4 miles and a dog walk - pups were thrilled to see several of their friends. That’s one way to get your upper body work in on a dog walk - holding back two enthusiastic Labs! I have a reformer circuit class this afternoon that I’m looking forward to. My weight is not budging but I’m doing measurements to compare with two months ago. We shall see. People think I’ve lost weight, so there’s that.
Look at all of the early risers here!
You guys are onto something. Morining exercise maybe better at burning fat:

That’s interesting. I always eat before my run, but maybe I’ll try running first. I love the idea of enjoying my breakfast with that “post-run” feeling, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get out of bed knowing that the run is the first thing on my list. Worth a try, though!
I know, Gertrude! I need my coffee at the very minimum.
That giganc watermelon I mention up thread? Gone! Ate the last piece this morning. It was AZ-grown and really juicy.
Today I was literally rolled out of bed and was on the pavement outside in probably 10 minutes. I tried to eat a spoon of peanut butter - just couldn’t do it! I mean, I only had time for 30 minutes - so a little less than 3 miles - but besides a drink of water ran it with sleepies in my eyes and no food in my belly!
I only eat something if I am planning a longer run. I don’t think I could get up any earlier than I am currently! I am going to try the oatmeal things and see how they work.
I have a cup of coffee before early AM walk or run, but that’s all.
I just did 2.1 miles this morning. My legs are tired and now that I got what I wanted for May mileage, my goal for June is LESS mileage! I want my legs a little less tired. I will do a slow mile after work while I watch the news.
Had my annual physical this morning. Survived!
No running for me!
I did have a wonderful breakfast of avocado and egg white on a whole grain English muffin. Now finishing up arm weight routine. Trying to be more mindful of added sugars.Going out to look for new Hokas too.
The early morning run/pre-exercise nutrition conundrum is kinda interesting. If you assume, correctly, that it takes anywhere from 1-4 hours for something you eat to clear the stomach and enter the small intestines for absorption into the blood stream and your early morning pre-breakfast run will last an hour or less, then it stands to reason that your fuel for the run will be what you ate the night before. (Which also kinda puts you in a deficit if you are doing one of those fasting diets and think you can just get away with no exercise on the day you are fasting. I posit that you not only can’t exercise on the day you fast but are behind the CRI fuel source 8 ball the next day too.) If you are doing a morning run of an hour or more, then probably some “on the run” nutrition would make sense about a half hour in. Then after the run, eat a good post exercise snack/meal within an hour consisting of at least about 20 gms of protein and at least 50 gms of carbs. This whole subject of pre, during and post exercise nutrition timing is sometimes like asking 2 people for an opinion and getting three responses, but the bottom line is that if you haven’t fueled, you can’t perform.
Switched up my workout routine a bit. Working on strength sets. 5 sets of 5 reps each. On the chin ups and dips, that means upping the weight vest to 40 lbs. When hanging by my arms for the chin ups, I keep imagining I’ve been placed on a rack! If the weather gets consistently nice, I can start doing the rings training too instead of the parallettes indoors.
NMinn, it sounds like your day is off to a good start. Focus on what you can do while healing what can’t be used is a wise strategy.
Yay! I jogged a mile (11 min pace) today on the Precor in my Oofos flip flops. I used rubber bands to create “slingbacks” to convert them into running huaraches - lol. Had to tiptoe the entire mile to make sure there would be no pressure on the wounded part of the foot. The flipflops did well!
