He’s doing well. However- you are only 1 injury or crash away from disaster! He has a full ironman (his first since Kona 2013) in 3 weeks at Mont Tremblanc.
Here is a GREAT article about some very impressive geezers. I have met Orville Rogers many times at Cooper’s in Dallas. Note- these are not all runners, which is what makes the article so great.
I really did a number on myself on Sunday. After helping my D move to a new place in Providence, we decided to go out for brunch.Walking to the restaurant, I tripped on a curb and fell–put my hands out to break the fall because I saw I was going to hit a metal kiosk. It was really a bloody mess. People were very kind and helpful, and kept offering me their clothes and blankets to stop the bleeding.
Long story short–ended up in the ER. Went home after a CAT scan and double diget stitches in my forehead. I look like Frankenstein and feel like Tinman, but I am not complaining–glad it wasn’t worse.
Bromfield, how awful but am so glad it wasn’t much worse - I’m sure you have strict instructions for followup. How painful but hopefully it will heal without complication. So sorry.
Bromfield - OUCH! So sorry to hear about your injury, that sounds so painful.
Last night was a 7 mile run. It wasn’t quite as hot or as humid as it has been, but my pace is still about 20 seconds off of what I consider “typical”. I am hoping that when we get to fall, it will be easier to be faster. I haven’t even been attempting any interval or tempo runs and I know I really should be doing some.
I had a “MAF and Back” run this morning - 30 minute warmup to run at MAF pace; then 30 minutes of higher intensity running, then a 10 minute cooldown. I think it’s working because I am getting faster and my HR is staying lower. I love using Runningahead to compare runs and workouts, so thanks to MOWC for that tip. 68 degrees and 94% humidity at 5:30 am. Followed up with a dog walk.
I was not a good eater last night - Mr. Sabaray and I tried Bonchon and no, we did not have anything healthy. Korean tacos (which I really liked), spicy chicken strips, kimchi coleslaw and seasoned french fries. In our defense, we did have lots of leftovers. My weight was substantially lower after being away this weekend, a nice unexpected surprise.
Sounds like an EXCELLENT run Sabaray! Maybe getting away from the home environment and a little R and R helped you to reset a bit.
Humidity is still ridiculous! This has truly been a very hot, very humid summer - so many days high 80’s - 90’s. Even my pup walk this morning before 7am was not refreshing!
Good run, sabaray! C3Baker- you will be definitely faster when it cools off! I promise.
5 miles before work, which is my longest before work (at home) run in awhile. I have an important work dinner this evening, so had t get all my mileage in this morning. It was horribly humid, but no rain. H headed out on his bike ride while I was eating breakfast, and he was back in about 15 minutes because it was starting to rain. This has been the strangest summer. The upside is the trees and grass are beautifully green. I’ve been doing my arm exercises at home with my 5 pound dumbbells so I can have arms like pizzagirl!
