Just for fun. See if you can beat Usain Bolt out of the starting blocks!

I can’t find out if Meb dropped out or is still running. Conflicting reports on Twitter. He was bent over at halfway. Go Galen!

My son was 5th out of the water (age group) which is good. The tracking hasn’t given anything on the bike past 33km. I’m a wreck.

Chilly, sunny 4.4 miles to make my 36 mile week. Dead legs.

^^^ Good for your son MOWC - I’ll be happy for you (and him) when he is safely done and you can relax!

I ACTUALLY have the windows open today. Coolness and lower humidity (still some humidity, but any improvement is good!) - I think the low is actually suppose to be in the 50’s tonight! I’ll be running this evening.

The announcer for the leading marathoner: “a 5 minute mile for his 25th mile - so he’s obviously slowing down” - huh? Unbelievable.

Kipchoge is the greatest marathoner of all time. Go Galen.

My daughter texted me to tell me not to freak out about the tracking. The female pros are through the next tracking point and nothing shows up for them, either.

Very touching to watch those 3 medalists cross the line. Choked me up! The “O” for Oregon. <3

How old is the USA bronze winner - he looks sort of young!

MOWC, the swim is done (the part with the most significant risks) and he is positioned well. Hang in there!

I think he just turned 30, abasket.

Ward was 6th, Meb 33rd. But he definitely kept his sense of humor intact - he fell right before the finish, crawled forward, did some pushups then got up. Even the great ones have not so great days. He’s still my favorite.

Galen Rupp is indeed young. He’s 30 (1986). He went to high school literally down the street from my house (as in, they’ve had signs up to cheer him on for years). I actually ran in the same event where he qualified for the Olympic trials (he finished the half marathon about 15 minutes after I finished my five k).

@dmd77 that is crazy! You can still say you "ran with a Olympic medaled runner!

Yes Meb, a class act. 33rd place at age 41 - interviewing with his girls at his side. Excellent interview. I’m choked up again!

(and it was a slip at the end - omg!)

SO glad Meb finished! He is awesome. Very proud of our marathoners.

Tracker updated and he is through 96.5km on the bike- whatever that is. Splits are all over the place so it must be hilly. So I guess over halfway of the 112 miles.

Meb is amazing! It was a very, very tough race.

Hope we hear about Wild Child’s progress soon. Fingers crossed.

Off the bike. 5:01 for the 112 miles. 6:06 total race time. 5th in age group and 1st American. We’ll see if he can run a few down.

Wow!

Wow, lots of posts this morning!

I am back running- 2 miles this morning, it was nice to run in cool weather, felt like a fall day. I am of course somewhat slower after a month off, but looking to work my way back. It felt good.

HM done, 15 seconds off a PR. But I thought I’d be 10-15 minutes off due to the heat, so I’m thrilled. Big blister on one toe. Tried asking people all morning how Meb had done, but got a lot of blank stares. I saw his pushups when I got home. Good old Meb - he never disappoints, even when he comes in 33rd

Great job, Gertrude!

Great job Gertrude! Heat- ugh.

DNF for WildChild. Fainted 9 miles into the run. He’s ok. That’s all I know.

Just watched marathon on tape delay. Thought Galen was going to get 2nd.

1st lap of 66 in 1500. I could have been a front runner in that race! Of course Centrowitz “only” ran a 50 last 400.

Great job running by USA runners.

Praying for Wild Child in the run. Unfortunately, I’m thinking of getting a tri bike. I heard it makes it easier on the butt and quads when you start the run.

My Garmin 235 suddenly is giving me a blank screen? Will charge it to see if it comes back. Got it in December 15.

2nd day of swimming today. Going to baby the knee this week.

Great race Gertrude! This heat is a killer. I’ve been watching my weight swing 2-3 lbs/day depending on whether I’m training indoors or out. And that’s with constant attention to hydration. Thursday I rode outside. Hydrated regularly during the ride and all evening into the night. Friday, weight was down 3 lbs. Friday, did lower body routine indoors. Saturday my weight was up 2 lbs from Friday. Saturday, I did a brutal outdoors workout. Drank as much water as I physically could Saturday and Saturday night. Today, weight was down 2.7 lbs from Saturday and .7 lbs lower than Friday and 3.7 lbs lower than Thursday. It almost impossible to keep on top of the water loss!

MOWC, so sorry to hear that your son was DNF. Glad to hear though that he’s ok. Fainting must have really rattled him - and you! Keep us posted.
