Good luck MOWC! It’s all downhill from here!

Good luck, MOWC!

I have to clarify. MOWC’s race course is slightly downhill.

PG, what a wonderful tribute to you and your H’s good health and time taking care of yourselves. How cool that you did that month years ago! Sounds like a wonderful trip!!!

It’s a beautiful fall morning - the heat and humidity has left the premises!!!

Made it. It was a horrible race for me. I thought I could run 2:10 and I ran 2:17. Shocked to be 2nd in age group. My daughter’s and Sabaray 's coach ran with h me since she has a 24 hour race next week. She talked the whole time, which helped.I had to take some walking breaks starting at 10 miles. My legs and I were just shot. I would almost call this a trail race - there was about 6 miles of packed gravel with some stretches of rough footing. I didn’t fall, but I was slow. Weather got better towards the end, but was horrible to start- 76 and very humid. Every bit of my pre-race dread was justified. It’s over, though. I have a nice tshirt and 2 medals!

^^^So many things in your post MOWC paint “hero” on your forehead! Weather, “road” conditions, etc. - wow.

And your D and Sabaray have the same coach?!

The marathoners were stopped by a train and almost the whole field lost 8 minutes!

That’s terrible MOWC! It’s suppose to be a good BQ course. How do they explain that?

D did the relay, she was really happy with her time. Unfortunately her leg hurts so bad, she thinks she might have a stress fracture. I’ll talk to her later and find out what is happening.

Yikes!!! I would be steaming like a train engine about that 8 min stop!!

Congrats on finishing and getting 2nd. 76 degrees at the start… I cannot imagine that. I had two races that started when it was 70, so I can totally relate to that! Great job.

Nice job in miserable conditions, MOWC - and glad you had the company! Coach would be very good company to have.

I think the trail surface and the complete flatness bothered me more than the weather. Racing is just really hard! I like that it’s over and I like getting to see everyone.

Congrats MOWC!! Wow, the train thing is unbelievable. They warn us about the possibility of being stopped for train or trolley crossings in some of our downtown races, but it has not happened to me yet. And I don’t think it would be anywhere close to 8 minutes - probably just 1 or 2.

We are headed to Philly next weekend to see my D’s junior recital (she’s a vocal music major at Temple). I just discovered the Schuyllkill Banks Boardwalk - that is new since we lived there! MNKAT - is is worth checking out for a run?

It is worth running on it and on the Schuylkill River Trail, but be careful. There have been a lot of incidents of young teens circling runners and pushing and grabbing them. It’s become a problem, but the police have stepped up patrols. I’m in the Run215 Facebook group and I keep an eye on it. I’ve run there a fair amount but haven’t gotten to run on the boardwalk yet.

What MOWC reports was a problem. Strapped up police patrols and a volunteer patrol system have cleaned it up pretty well. If you use it during mainstream hours when other users are on the Schullkyl Banks Boardwalk you should be ok.

I wish I could either search within a thread or have more patience to go back…but I’m feeling like one of our members here has a b-day today??? Sabaray? I think this is a big birthday week - celebrate another year! And let us know what flavor the cake, cupcake, pie, sundae or what savory treat landed on your b-day plate.

NOT my birthday this week, but bought myself my b-day gift early today - a new shiny pair of Nike Structure. I went to the running store so I know I paid more than I should have…I have to get comfortable buying online!

I tried Saucony, NB and something else…but Nike always feels like “home” to my feet.

Nice job MOWC. Love the redwoods. Always awestruck.

Finished my 100 miler. 17.6 mph avg. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Two other guys rode with me and we took turns with the surges. Very well organized. 3 snack stops and lunch stop. Used the gels. Seemed to give me a boost at 30, 70 and 90 miles.

Is it MOfWC’s birthday? Oh wait. I think hers is tomorrow!

Congrats ohio! Great accomplishment, both going the distance and the pace.

Yay, Ohio! Mine is tomorrow and I can’t remember if sabaray’s is today or Tuesday.
