Great job, Ohio! You were flying.

Awesome Ohio - was a gorgeous day it was - you were lucky to race in good weather.

So Sabaray- remind us. Is your birthday tomorrow or yesterday?

I think I was 3rd in the age group even though they gave me 2nd. That’s what the online results show. I emailed the race director. I’m happy to place either way!

4.1 recovery miles in 50 degree, gorgeous Poconos weather. Legs are sore and tired, but it felt good to be out there. Could have used this weather yesterday.

My birthday was yesterday, but happy birthday to you today, MOWC!

Happy Birthday, MoWC!! It was fun watching you and the others race yesterday! What a wonderful group of women. I love it that we’ve gotten together so many times now. This morning, one of the girls (NP) was already googling races for next year. Lake Tahoe, Vegas… so many possibilities! Next time, I will run myself.

Happy belated Sabaray - I hope you enjoyed a “birthday weekend” at your house!

Happy Birthday MOWC and sabaray!

Great job Ohio and MOWC.

Thanks, everyone. Sabaray- happy birthday. I know Sept 11 is now a sad day for a birthday.
MaineLonghorn- thanks for cheering me to the finish line!

Congratulations to everyone on such great runs and rides this weekend!

I ran a half marathon on Saturday and it was without a doubt the most unusual race I’ve ever done. It was held inside a state prison. The chaplain at the prison organized this race a few years ago - it is a small event with our Back on My Feet group and the running club within the prison. It was really hard in that it was 45 laps of a concrete path that goes through the prison complex, so it was kind of monotonous. My legs were killing me by about mile 9, I think maybe it was because I’m not used to running on concrete, it just seemed much harder than the asphalt pavement I usually run on. And it was raining throughout a good portion of the race. Three separate times it just poured down in torrential buckets, but fortunately the downpours didn’t last too long and it was a light rain most of the rest of the time.

So that was all the hard parts of the race, but it really was an incredible experience. The inmates were awesome - the runners were happy to have others to run with, lots of lively friendly chatter and with running such short (.29 mile) loops you were always with somebody and always passing people frequently so lots of opportunity to talk. The inmates who were manning all the water stations were great - they were so enthusiastic and encouraging, you could tell they loved having visitors there. They stood through the heavy downpours and cheered the whole time. There weren’t many people doing the half marathon, most had signed up for the 5K or 10K, so there was a very large group cheering us all on during the last half of our race. The post race ceremonies were fun and overall it was a really cool experience.

Happy Belated Birthday sabaray! I hope you had a great day!

Happy Birthday MOWC! Enjoy your day!

I think I need a spreadsheet for the birthdays!

C3Baker, you win the award for most unusual race. I read an article a few months ago about a running club inside a prison- I wish I could find it now, but the “club” culminated in a half marathon run inside the walls. Editing to say I found the article: http://www.runnersworld.com/runners-stories/for-inmates-the-wall-has-a-totally-different-meaning

Easy six this morning. Definitely cooler. Come on fall!

Happy belated birthday, Sabaray, and happy birthday, MOfWC!

That’s, cool, C3B! They do something like that in Nashville, but I think it might be a 10K. Sabaray- I think that article might have been in Runners’ World. We’re your ears burning yesterday? Coach and I were saying wonderful things about you!

Received an email from Elliptigo for $300 off an Elliptigo Arc for $999 after coupon. Enter GOMEB if you are ordering online or PM me and I’ll email you the $300 coupon - valid through sept 26 that you can use at a dealer.

Happy Birthday to all the celebrators!! C3B - that is fascinating- there is no end to the variations this running stuff can take. Glad it was enjoyable!

Ohio and I must have entered the same contest - too bad one of us didn’t win because we are worthy! I’m really going to have to twist Mr. Sabaray’s arm to convince him, but I might try the approach of saying he could use it too. I’m wondering if my area is generally too hilly for it to be practical for easy use. It could end up being a clothes hanger.

I did a lot of eating over the weekend but remarkably my weight is continuing to drop. Mr. Sabaray also celebrated a birthday this weekend and we had a great dinner Saturday - a combined celebration. We went out for brunch on Sunday - I had an incredible rice noodle pancake with stir fried veggies, topped with two soft baked eggs. Too many sweets this past week in general - really need to clean it up.

That’s funny, MOWC - no burning ears!

C3Baker, wow. You definitely won the most unusual race prize. Running on concrete is brutal. Running is small circles is brutal. Being there for your fellow runners - priceless.

Very interesting “pancake” Sabaray! If it has eggs, I’m in.

C3Baker, that takes the cake for unusual races. I enjoyed hearing about the nitty gritty of it - how all the inmates got involved - very, very interesting. I agree that running on concrete has got to be TOUGH.

Hello all. Fun weekend at family camp, even if we were working the whole time … well, except for the cocktail hour+ on Saturday evening, and the built in free time. Saturday morning run and Sunday morning walk around the island. Snapped a pic of the most amazing sunrise over the lake on Saturday.

Now back at the beach. Just under 4 miles this morning – it was 52 degrees when I went out. Yay, yay, and yay! Love this weather.

Kudos and congrats to all the weekend racers/warriors.

With the jet lag, woke up at 4:30 am so figured what the heck - did a 6 am Pilates and a 9:30 am DaVinci board. Loving the move towards fall weather. I am so not a summer person!

Ouch. I just injured myself.

I was out for a run, enjoying a sunny and not humid day, when bam, suddenly I landed hard on my bum. My head had smacked a low-lying branch really hard.

My first thought was wondering if I could get a concussion. There was a couple sitting on a bench near me who looked quite panicked at what had happened. Then I realized I was bleeding. They gave me a wet wipe which I clutched to my head as I walked home.

I was wearing a hat, which might be why the cut doesn’t seem that bad. I wasn’t bleeding profusely (my second fear was that there would be a huge gash for which I’d need stitches – that doesn’t seem to be the case). I took Aleve, and now have an ice pack on my head.

I passed by a half-dozen people as I walked home – I’m amazed no one said anything since there was a streak of blood down my face and I was clutching a bloody wipe to my head.

Not sure if I need to do anything else. I’ll probably get a nice black and blue mark on my backside.
