Abasket - try a spibelt

Going to look up spibelt…

Ah! One of Those! Yeah, I’ll be out doing some shopping this weekend - I’ll give a look for something similar. Not sure my phone will play music is it’s being joggled around side ways in a belt ??? Sorry, I have to have music - though I know it’s not recommended all the time!

@abasket - I am now the proud owner of 3 sparkle skirts (I may be developing a problem…) and the pockets in the shorts are large enough to hold a largish phone AND you can have a music hole put in to run the earphone cord right through the skirt. I ran with mine today & was not even aware of my phone in that pocket (and now that I think of it, it did not bounce out during my fall!) I was thinking that I was happy I didn’t have anything in my hands, like a water bottle, as that would have made things significantly worse.

I run with my iPhone in a waist belt. And listen to music. Works just fine.

The spibelts hold it pretty tight.

I have a bondi belt, never have a problem with my phone moving in it. I also have Bluetooth headphones which I really like, I don’t have a problem with them. But wired headphones work great also.

Lol, Ohio, thanks for posting - those look nice, but I think I will pass.

Yeah, Ohio. Give it a go!

I did 8 miles of my planned 7 this morning! I didn’t look at my splits, felt pretty OK despite the heat/humidity, and decided one more mile today is one less for tomorrow! My fastest two miles were my last 2, which I don’t say very often about a longer run. I beat the rain by a little bit. My husband is out on his bike in it, but he hasn’t called for a ride!

I have two spibelts - one for home and one for the car as I always seem to be misplacing them.

15.34 miles today and am really doubting my ability to do the marathon. Hip hurt, quads so tired, ankle super painful when I pulled my shoes off. It’s really hard to spend so much time running alone. Had to go out for a burger and a beer in hopes that would improve my outlook. Warmer than I thought it would be. Now I just want a nap!

I think you are at the stage in your training where one tends to feel that way. It just seems impossible. However, you will be taped and rested and it will be cooler. You CAN do the marathon.

Nice 25-mile bike ride today with my husband. Uphill out, downhill back. Part of the path really needs replacing – the bumps were so bad my front basket was dislodged twice.

Abasket I received an email of a sale of BANDI Wear that I use running. Here’s the link if you are interested http://bandiwear.com/collections/sale?utm_source=End+of+season+sale+blast&utm_campaign=end+of+summer+sale&utm_medium=email

I have a regular sized on and it fits my new iPhone 7 fine. I also have one of the large ones but like or am more comfortable with the regular sized one.

Deb- I saw what you did there! New iPhone 7! How do you like it? I’m sort of resisting because I got that extra Apple battery case for my 6 in December and don’t want to start all over,

The one thing I was heartbroken about over getting the new iPhone was that my workout armband wouldn’t fit anymore. We’ve been through so much. It was there when I started running for my first 5K. It was there when I powered through my first 5K. (And there when I vowed never to do one again…) It was there when I went to a new gym for the first time. Countless obstacles and achievements. I’m going to miss you, friend.

I’m afraid an arm band would be too heavy with the new phone. It’s literally occupies all the space between my deltoid and elbow. A belt would get in the way with my strength training. Some leggings have pockets on the side of the leg…but I wouldn’t want to be limited to just wearing those…

I like my new iPhone MOWC. The fact that it’s water resistant won me over. I had a 5 so upgrading was overdue.

I have Verizon but I think the other phone providers are doing similar. To boost iPhone 7 sales, they are offering a great trade in price for their old phones. My D’s friend upgraded from the 6 to 7. The offered her $650 for her old phone so the 7 was free. The trade in is offered in 24 equal installments so to keep you with that carrier.

I was offered $400 for my 5. Divided into 24 installments so that upgrading is costing me around $15.50/month.

I’m not sure how much better the 7 is over the 6. But like I said, water resistant and more storage for me were the selling points.

Like the waterproof feature. What about shatterproof screen? Only thing that is holding me back is the cost incurred for wireless earbuds. I spend a buck right now for the wired headphones at the dollar store. Need to cut back in some areas to afford cycling, watches, running gear, etc. It’s hard keeping up the MNKats.

In my experience, wireless earbuds are worth the investment, although that doesn’t mean they have to be expensive! I have a pair that I love and will never go back to working out with wired headphones again.

Lol ohio :). I have a real existential dilemma. My 63rd is this week and notwithstanding my best efforts, I can’t figure out an actual use I would have for a Fenix 3 HR or even the new IWatch series 2 beyond just telling time. All of my cardio training is on the bike and for that I have my PowerTap hubbed rear wheel and my Garmin Edge 820 for outdoors rides and my Wahoo Kickr for indoor training. I have a Polar HR monitor for those occasions when we are traveling and I’m without a bike and must rely on some other cardio. I have a plain old analogue sports dive watch for recreational wear. No matter how hard I try, I can’t come up with a single “logical” reason to get a smart sports watch or how I would really use its capabilities. It’s so very depressing. Maybe I’ll get Garmin’s new bike tail light that has integrated radar, links with the 820 and gives a visual and audible alert when a car approaches from the rear at greater than 6 mph.

Thanks, deb. It sounds good. I think I’ll hold off. I need a new iPad, though.

4.1 humid miles this morning. We are stuck in a weather pattern that isn’t moving very rapidly. I’ll be in Colorado at the end of the week, though!
