Happy Birthday, abasket

Hope you have a fun day abasket!

Happy Birthday, abasket!

Thanks all! Though I’m not much for alcohol I have learned to enjoy a small glass of wine or a margarita here and there - wish I could have one with you all!

Sabaray, color me dumb. Can you explain " 4 by 5 minute pace" to me??? My 5k to 10K has had me doing a little speed work - I hate it of course! - 2 minutes of “fast” is an eternity!

As an example, run 5 minutes at a 9:30 - 9:40 pace, walk for 2 minutes. Repeat that for a total of four times. There’s a small track close to my house that I head over to for this kind of stuff. I’m not a big fan either, but it’s nice to see your pace improve over time.

Margaritas for everyone!

Got it. The “4” was throwing me off. And I was hoping you weren’t running at 5:00 pace!!! Lightening speed Sabaray!

A hungry lion would have to be chasing me for that to happen!

Happy birthday, abasket!

Looking forward to hearing about that Ragnar. I have a friend who did a Ragnar in Maryland a few years back – first time I’d ever heard of it.

It was pouring yesterday, so I ran on a treadmill – walking and running, a total of 8 miles, which is a lot for me. Today I swam 1.5 miles in the pool.

Meanwhile, I’ve managed to wear the wrong shoes 3 times in 3 days and have blisters and rubbings all over my feet. My left foot has three bandaids on it! It always puzzles me how a pair of shoes can work out great one day, and then the next it causes problems.

Good work, sabaray. I’ll take a margarita!

Happy birthday, abasket! <:-P

Lots of September birthdays here! Happy Birthday, abasket!

Yes, happy birthday Abasket! Hope you have a great day!

Happy Birthday to you, abasket! Wishing you a day filled with joy.

I’ve spent the last week trying to get back into a routine. Ouch, it’s painful. My husband is suffering from lower back pain and has been lying down flat on and off since we got back from the European adventure. I swear his prescribed meds, steroids and muscle relaxers, give him a serious case of the crankies. No fun for anyone :frowning:

I’ve been running in preparation for the half marathon in six weeks. I’m back to run/walk because of the heat. Also, even though I did enough walking, I think vacation time with its shorter exercise sessions and longer wining and dining dates cut into fitness surprisingly quickly. Great times, but make-up exercise is a bear!

I spent a good chunk of time on the phone recently with Nike. My two favorite running bras have started to come UNGLUED along one of the seams. There’s no danger of a wardrobe malfunction, but the fabric is gaping in a way that could definitely cause chaffing. I cant believe they use any glue in these garments that are almost entirely stitched! Good news on the equipment front comes in the form of a new pair of Brooks shoes–Glycerin 14. They feel great on my toes. I went back up a half size too. I hope this alleviates some of my mysterious toe blister problems.

That is bizarre about the bras and the glue! I hope Nike sends you new ones! I bet the steroids are making your husband cranky. They do that! I bet you will love the Glycerin 14s. I have Ghost 9 and am really liking them. I’m debating ( First World Problems) which shoes to take with me to Colorado Springs (Thurs-Sun). Weather looks like it is going to be really good, although at this conference I have to run really early in the morning because the sessions start early.

This morning in Tennessee we had good weather and I actually wore a t-shirt! I ordered a Team Leo t=shirt (Leo Manzano- top US (well, didn’t make the Olympic team this year) middle distance runner (800-1500) and great guy. Terrific role model for Hispanic youth in Texas. Wore it this morning. It’s soft and comfortable.

Happy birthday to abasket! (And many more.)

I was up before dawn to go to a trail running clinic with a local group. Of course, I was the oldest one there by a generous number of years, but I still managed to keep up, somehow. This week was hill-speedwalking skills and it has left me with some pretty tired muscles. It doesn’t help that I came home and let the dog talk me into a two-mile run. There were an awful lot of squirrels out there this morning, and he was bound and determined to verify that every single one of them could run faster than he could.

On the good news front, though, the cantaloupe I bought a few days ago tastes amazing and is perfectly ripe.

18 holes of golf, walking. After yesterday’s big rainstorm the course was really soggy in places – galoshes would have been useful!

Happy Birthday to @abasket! September is full of birthdays in our families, especially H’s. His sister does a “September Birthday Party” for all family and close friends who have a birthday during the month. It’s always crowded.

Stopped on the way back from golf and picked up the “Grace” Mantra Band. I like the “mantra” it comes with: “Let this band be your reminder to practice love, kindness, and compassion. May peace, blessing, and grace be upon you always.”

I have “grace”, too. It has double meaning for me because it was my mother’s name.

Happy birthday to Abasket and all the rest of the septembers! My wife dad brother this month as well.
MOWC were you part of the conf planning committee so you could get in some high altitude training?!

No, but I’ll be able to run early in the morning. I think the area around the Broadmoor isn’t too hilly- thank God. You can certainly find big hills, but it looks like there is a lake on the premises with a path around it.

For activities in the afternoons we have a tram up Pike’s Peak and Segway tour in Garden of the Gods. Food and drink will be plentiful and non-stop. I’m on a panel one of the mornings. One evening function is at the Olympic Training Center. This is a fun group and I get invited every year. It’s always in a great location. Lots of lawyers…

Thanks again for all the b-day wishes. Could it be all that Christmas/holiday celebrating that causes so many September babies!!!

I actually have never enjoyed birthdays. So glad when it’s over with! Call me weird. But did enjoy a nice relaxing evening simple dinner with H and S and DIL at a little mediterranean restaurant - feta chicken w/roasted vegetables over couscous. Yummy!

Was antsy after work and before dinner and feeling kind of “blah” so went out for a short run 2.57 - the last two numbers being my new age!!!
