Glad to hear you felt good about your run, sabaray!
Spent the entire afternoon sanding and prepping the front door for painting. Phew. Good arm workout.
Way to go sabaray! Relish your progress towards your goals!!
3 dark Colorado miles and now heading home for a few days. Coming back to the Broadmoor on Wednesday, believe it or not.
Went to a great power yoga class today with my D who is visiting for 2 days (she just started grad school a few hours away).
Felt my pitiformis muscle acting up before class and it is fine now–pidgeon pose helps loosen up that muscle.
Two local studios are offering a special monthly pass for either studio in October. It’s $165 for unlimited number of classes. There’s also a 30 day yoga challenge–one class a day. Thinking about signing up.
What do people pay for yoga classes–if I get a 10-class pass, cost per class is between $18-22 depending on the studio.
The fun run was fun and I as very pleased with my (self timed) results. I ran the entire first mile, then walked just a bit before running almost all of the second mile. Walked a bit more on the third, but finished faster than my 2 prior 5Ks and am closer to my goal time as well as my goal of running with no walking. D had a good run - her fastest 5K yet. She has been under the weather a bit and was pleasantly surprised.
sabaray- you are doing great.
Bromfield - my monthly unlimited yoga pass is $110 and this is in the DC suburbs. When I started practicing 3-4x/week it made a lot of sense to get the unlimited. I think a 10 class pass is around $130-$140. It is an independent studio and locally owned so that may keep the prices low. I did the challenge last year -it was 25 classes in 30 days at my studio. Go for it !
Bought a “namaste” tshirt today so thinking I need to go back to the basic yoga (gentle flow) class offered at lunch time at our work fitness center.
3 miles this morning before heading out with a friend on an excursion. I am in week 3 of the 5k-10K. Some days it doesn’t have you running all that long, but I am finding that if I slow my pace down a bit I can more easily do the long running stretches (like 35 minutes on Friday) without stopping without problem.
My yoga studio charges $140 for a 10-class pass – but they have specials a couple times a year, where it costs $99 (and I just bought 20 classes worth). A monthly unlimited pass is $89 – although there are often specials for that too. I usually only go once a week, and occasionally twice, so a 10-class pass works for me,
Another 4ish mile walk this morning with our weekend guest (and the pup) – and once more the guys were sleeping in. What a gorgeous day!
We had a spectacular sail yesterday. After the first hour the clouds all disappeared, so even though it was a little cool, the sun helped warm up things. Today after our guests left H and I went over to Mystic Seaport. We’re members, so periodically run over to stroll around. Turns out there was an antique car show going on, so the afternoon was all about boats and cars.
Good job, FallGirl! You, too, abasket. We have a very motivated group here!
It was 44 this morning in CO and I got home to 96 degrees. That’s all I’ll say about that!
Wow, what a temperature graduent!! It was close to 75 mid-day here. I foolishly began my door priming project before realizing that the darn door will not be dry for a few hours to be ready to be closed. Alas, no trails for us today, but the painting had to be done. The door was so ugly I was embarrassed about it every time the ups guy would come to leave a package.
Will do weights later tonight.
Weights and TRX. And vacuuming the house.
Have 10 minutes or less? Check out these “really, really short” workouts.

Bromfield, I hope you’re doing the 30 day yoga challenge. That seems right up your alley. I enjoyed the Pilates challenge when I did it. Not yoga, but an unlimited Pilates/Barre/TRX pass for me is $99. This doesn’t include Reformer classes, however. Monthly unlimited Bikram yoga is $160. “Regular” yoga is $109.
Got 5 difficult miles in this morning, cooler but it still felt hard. My ankle is really stiff - doesn’t feel like it’s bending or moving through the push off. Quick trip up to the DC metro area yesterday and had lunch with D at Nando’s. I know this is the wrong thread, but @abasket, it was delicious. The one we ate at is very convenient to the zoo and Lebanese Taverna is right next door (Woodley Park - Connecticut Ave. NW). I think it was moderately healthy - we had “snacks” of olives and spicy nuts while waiting for our food - everyone tried the grilled half chicken and chips (fries). Well, okay, the fries weren’t healthy, but they were very tasty.
Thanks bunsenburner and FallGirl! I have found a lot of inspiration on this thread. One thing that helps me when I run is to not think about the running itself – it makes it go faster. So lately I’ve been thinking about seating arrangements for a dinner party I’m planning. Who should sit next to whom, etc. Makes the time pass.
Sabaray, my mind noted your FB post about where you were at - and thought that was one of your recommendations! Olives and nuts are right up my snack alley.
Excited for our DC trip in 2 weeks!
I had a really nice run this morning, 6.6 miles – cool outside, no humidity, bright sunshine.
I passed by the low-lying branch that knocked me down a couple weeks ago. There’s another one just as bad about 3-feet away, and someone had taped a sign to it asking that it not be cut down because people touch it for good luck. I’m debating putting up my own sign saying that their good luck is dangerous for other people.
^^I cannot believe someone took the time to put a sign up! Is this in public (like a park) space or private (like a homeowners) property???
Public. They very meticulously taped and rubber-banded the note to the tree limb.
Shaking head…
