Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

My posts are cutting off for some reason. I tried to write that I really appreciate all of you here and your maturity and dedication. The election is also wearing on me and everyone else

Well, Plantmom, today WAS National Dessert Day…sounds like you celebrated well!

A note about the donuts from this morning - I did end up eating 1/2 of a glazed cake donut. And really the only reason I had a 1/2 was that I was sure to NOT buy great donuts, but just run of the mill Tim Horton’s - which is a lot easier to take or leave! I did have a very small piece of cherry pie I found in the freezer - it was delicious! Glad I saved the sugar for that instead of mediocre donuts!

The last time we had Tim Horton’s they were awful, stale! Ugh, if I have a donut they should at least be good.

Cold better, 5k tomorrow. Went out with my D and friends, not the best idea. No pr lol! But had fun so that’s what important!

Good luck, Deb!

Good luck, deb!

Hope all went well with the Dr visit, Bunsen.

Thinking of MNK and his D’s wedding today.

I’m somewhat tired being up with the dog (15 1/2 and having health issues) 3x last night, but will be heading out to yoga in a few.

I also had a donut yesteday - chocolate old fashioned. We get them every other Friday at work (bagels on the other Fridays) & it’s always a scramble for everyone to get their fave. Usually I don’t succumb, but felt the need yesterday.

Up early to join my run group for 8 miles on Coronado island. Thinking of MNK on the big wedding day - I hope it is beautiful and joyous!

FallGirl. We have same issues with our older dog. Constantly roaming. Hard for him to get up/down steps so I have to carry him (35 lbs). My first workout of the day. I give him Glucosamine and it seems to help some.

My knee is getting better although it got a little cranky the other night and u was concerned I had a stress fracture. My sports chiro said it was residual meniscus issue and did some ART/Graston which helped. They also do Ultrasound. Hard to say if it works since you don’t “feel” anything. If I was a manufacturer I think I would add a buzzing/vibrating feature as a marketing gimmick!

Just to be safe I did an hour (9 miles- 4 at 5 minute pace) of AlterG because I didn’t want the pounding. Also 1/2 hour of compression boots. Relaxing. But sore today. Probably overdid it.

I am putting together my Christmas list so if anyone is interested. Want a home setup that could surpass Michael’s playground:
AlterG $20,000
High altitude tent $3,000
Cryotherapy chamber $30,000
Compression boots $3,000
Whirlpool $7,000
Sauna $7,000
Home lap pool $???

You’re our favorite, MOWC. Who else could you possibly need when you have all of us?

Michael, hope it’s a wonderful day for your family! FallGirl, I’m sorry about your pup.

Ended up with a bit over 12 this morning - hilly route was not my friend. At the start, you run down this huge hill - which means at the end of the run, you’ve got to get up it. Figured that was good practice for the MCM finish. Gertrude’s run sounds a whole lot better! Got home and walked the dogs.

Bunsen, hope you’re feeling okay today. Let us know how you’re feeling.

Ohio, I think you might need to win the lottery!

Ohio- if we all lived closer, we could go in on it!

Sabaray- absolutely. Y’all are my people!

Michael- have a wonderful day. Thinking of you.

Good job, sabaray. That’s what you needed to do. My daughter trained for that uphill finish at MCM, and then was frustrated when she gathered it up for the “sprint” up that last hill and it was so crowded that she was hampered by other runners. Just mow them down!

9 miles of my planned 8, but it wasn’t pretty. It was 66 and humid and I felt much less good than last week. Also 20 seconds a mile slower, which was OK. I tried to slow it down hoping I would feel better, but sometimes there just isn’t a pace that feels good. I got back to the car at 8.7 and did some stupid looking laps around the parking lot once I decided I could stagger on to the 9 miles. I kept saying “less to do tomorrow…”. It was pretty with some of the leaves having fallen on the path. It’s going to be in the 80s again next week, though- which is VERY unusual.

Clifton 3s might be the best Hokas yet. My son is loving the Tracer, but it is a very light Hoka and I would consider it more of a racing shoe.

There is a very odd fashion look right now- which is even on the cover of Runners’ World and on the Oiselle site- puff vests with no sleeves. So- bare arms and a puff vest. I’m not embracing that!

Just pull on your UGGs and you’d have a real fashion statement right there!

^^^ With shorts!

^^^LOL. Make sure they are really short shorts. B-)

Survived the visit. Now waiting for test results. Two systems (M/S, G/I) down, one more to go.

Just 3 miles on the trails this morning. Hope to pick up another 2

Way to go on the 12 sabaray! MOWC you are the best. So inspirational!

33:30 5k. The start was slow, it goes over a bridge that was under construction and things slowed to a walk for a bit. I’m happy with the result. I’m old and slow and that’s ok!

Deb, that is awesome! Congrats!

Congrats Deb! Another finish! Slow is fine.

That’s great Deb – congrats! Thanks to BunsenBurner and MomofWildChild plantar fasciitis is now manageable vs crippling (went for a run this morning – no issues). Glorious weather in Central Park. Only issue was getting caught in a race with little kids running like they were shot out of a cannon!

Congrats, deb!

So happy to hear that you got that PF beast under control, @Classof2015 !

Dark and super rainy here today. I keep hearing that we might get pummeled with rain and high winds later tonight. Ugh, there go my weekend plans. :frowning:

Oh and I finished just behind Bart Yasso and he high fived me as I finished lol!
