Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

MOfWC, oh no!!! So sorry about your doggie. :frowning:

Did restorative yoga yesterday and walking my dog in the woods (conservation trail) for an hour. Going to mindful meditation today–not physical exercise but need it for my state of mind.
Sorry about your doggie, MOWC.

MOWC - do you know if women’s shoe construction is different than men’s? I want to order some adidas adizeros adios shoes and can only find women’s. I’m willing to live with the brighter colors!

As a female who buys men’s running shoes, I can tell that the major difference is the shoe width. Women’s shoes are narrower!

@MomofWildChild – I’m sorry to hear about your dog. My sympathies.

I took my own furies out on the trails this morning and hoped to lose them in the dust and sweat. I took eight seconds off my previous best downhill mile and my dog is now relaxing and I’m feeling … well, less like I’m being pursued by furies.

Ohio- several manufacturers claim that they make a special women’s last which has the flex point at a slightly different place- and narrower, as Bunsen said. I am not sure if that is just marketing hype or if it is for real. I would try them and make sure you can return them!

Thanks, all. We had a good 7 months with her…

And I know she had a good forever with you.

@BunsenBurner, thanks for thinking of me! Things have been so incredibly, insanely hectic for me over the last few weeks that I’ve had little time to keep up with all the posts let alone post more than a sentence or two of my own. I thought things would slow down a bit after my daughter’s wedding on October 15, but best laid plans and all that. I’ve been totally caught up with:

Trying to finish my Fitness and Sports Nutrition certification - lots of science based materials, you would love it :).

Redesigned my website to include a page for distance coaching services including a Skype link and a link to my YouTube page.

Made my first YouTube video - boy am I stilted and awkward on camera - gotta redo it lol.

Have been in negotiations to become a partner with my daughter in the indoor cycling studio she manages and to expand to a second location.

Redesigned the floor plan of my studio and moved equipment around to make room for some additional equipment. Note to self: moving a 350 lb assisted pull-up/dip machine by yourself is really a stupid idea.

Redesigned my strength training program for new goals based on maximizing strength. As part of this, I’ve redesigned my nutritional program to gain weight to support the growth of additional muscle, a scary proposition given all the time and effort I’ve invested in maintaining my weight at its existing point.

All of this while still practicing law 35 hours/wk and training clients and designing their programs 20 hrs/wk. Sleep? Who needs sleep!

On another note, I saw the posts about your ongoing pain. You must be ready to strangle someone! I hope things get figured out for you soon.

Geez, Michael! That’s a 200% load! Glad you are moving forward with the cycling studios!

You’ve been busy, Michael. Yikes!

I went to the gym today. It was excellent therapy. With all the running I did to get ready for the half marathon, I don’t think I’ve done a real weight training workout for at least a month and a half. Today I spent plenty of time gently warming up and running through an old core strengthening program I did last year. Ouch, I’m going to feel it tomorrow.

I feel naked today - left my Fitbit at home!!! Will have to count my steps manually, I guess!

^^^Do you have an iPhone with the Health app - you can always check that for the steps while you were holding your phone!!

3 out of 4 nights running so far this week - win! Thank you decent, sunny fall weather!

No health apps on my ancient iPhone 5 with iOS 6! I guess I will have to ask Santa for a new phone this Christmas!

There ya go! - a good reason!

The gym has been excellent therapy this week, as Plantmom said. It’s probably mostly offsetting the stress eating.

DH and I head to Vegas Saturday AM for the R&R Half. We won’t have QUITE as much to celebrate as hoped, but it’s still my 50th birthday & our 25th anniversary, so that’s plenty! Good eating, good sleeping & some fun sights await.

Happy “Annibirthday” gertrude! And good luck in the race.

I love that - “Annibirthday” - how appropriate! That sounds like a great weekend - enjoy it, Gertrude!

Returning to routine - 6 miles with my running group this morning. Perfect running weather as far as I am concerned - 30 degrees but still 93% humidity. If the humidity was just a little lower I’d be thrilled. Nice to have some company in the mornings.

Happy Birthday and Anniversary Gertrude! Have a wonderful time in Vegas.

I am taking a use-or-lose day off today and have the holiday tomorrow. Things to do around the house, but will be including fitness and shopping around for some fitness clothes for colder weather.

Yoga class over. Next up is a long walk.
