C3Baker, give that knee a GOOD rest. After a marathon, your muscles and ligaments are still recovering, so be gentle to them. Do not do what I did a while ago - jumped off a retaining wall and hurt my knee (made it worse because I insisted on running through pain). Fingers crossed it will be back to normal quickly.

MOfWC, sending a virtual bottle of bubbly to you to celebrate the streak! Congrats.

Thanks, all. C3B- you didn’t spill the drink or popcorn, did you? Sorry you twisted your knee. I hope it isn’t too bad! I feel like an old lady when I climb around the bleacher seats at sporting events- which I will do tonight with Vandy’s first home basketball game. It is SO easy to lose balance or miss a step!

Another dusk run, almost 60 degrees. Might see 70 by the end of the work week! Unfortunately, the weekend shows temps that start with “4” and “3” - but for today I’ll celebrate!

Sending the healing wishes out to C and CBB.

Congrats MOWC- that streak is very impressive.

AlterG tonight. Yesterday regular treadmill. Think this ole knee is going to be ok. Chiro got me back into racing flats. Thought that a cushioned shoe was causing hip instability. I am trying the Brooks Hyperion. Like it so far.

My running store didn’t have my regular Adidas flats in stock so I gave the Brooks a shot. Minimal drop and feel fast.

Every time I’ve bought a shoe online, I always seem to run into the local shoe store manager (friend and girls track coach) and he notices the new shoes and throws some severe guilt-trip my way!

Congrats on your race/renew ceremony Gertrude. Sounds like a fun weekend. Nice job on the streak, MOWC.
Sending healing mojo to C3 and CBBB.

Slow flow yoga but wasn’t able to walk–I whimped out because of the rain.

It was great to meet Gertrude and her hubbie for lunch.

My report on Orange Theory: I definitely got a workout and my body hurt the next couple of days. There were three “stations” – treadmill, rower, and floor with weights. We did the floor first, for about 20 minutes, and then switched between treadmill and the rower for the rest. The weights section was problematic for me – the emphasis seemed more on quantity than quality, and there was a definite sense of trying to work faster to do as much as possible within a certain timeframe.

You are hooked up to a heart rate monitor, and at the end you get a score that shows you how much time you were at various levels (at maximum, 80-90 percent, etc.).

Since the closest Orange Theory is a 20-minute drive from my house, it is doubtful I’ll do it again.

Today I spent the morning hiking – did three trails for a total of 9 miles. In the afternoon I shopped at a Lululemon outlet. You are all drooling now. I got some leggings, and a pair of shorts and a running skirt, 2 for $50. Not bad. I spent a lot of money, but considerably less than full price.

The place where I am staying has a lap pool 10 steps from my hotel door. So I’m swimming laps every night as the sun sets and the moon rises.

You all have lives that are so much more exciting than mine! Glad you’re having a fun trip, fireandrain - good to get some relaxation in, which I hope you’re doing. Feeling very envious of your Lulu spree!

Early morning today - back to the hill - pace is picking up again and on the plus side my HR is lower and I’ve dropped 8 pounds since the end of October. Working with my trainer here in a bit and the off to the salt mine! One of my coworkers loves OT - but I don’t know that I’d like the quantity over quality aspect of the weights.

C3Baker, how’s the knee today? Better, I hope.

Thanks for the Orange Theory report, fireandrain. I was wondering about being sore afterwords, but I really need to start some strength training. Very jealous of the Lulu outlet, none here that I know of.

That’s terrific sabaray!

5 pound party plus 3 for sabaray! Way to go!
Jealous of the Lulu outlet! Orange Theory sounds like a place where I would get injured, but I bet it was a great workout!

3 miles this morning after a late night last night at the basketball game.

This is Flying Monkey Marathon weekend, which I am NOT running but I help at packet preparation, packet pickup and the finish line. It’s a small (300) race and I get to see friends that come in from all over the country to do this insane thing.

Oh- the story of my daughter and the medium hoodie at the 10 mile race… The race director is giving her a Small!

I want to swim at sunset and moon rise!!!

Wonder how many Lulu outlets there are? I’m actually shopping on the Athleta website this morning for bday gifts for D1 - and I’m getting a little distracted!!!

Sending healing thoughts to C3B and CBBBlinker! Way to go on the streak, MOWC. I bet there were times you really didn’t feel like running but you did it anyway — congrats!

Anyone know how long it takes for damaged toenails to grow out? I think they should rename marathons “extreme pedicure”.

Another, longer, urban pup walk. My gait issues haven’t improved with me taking time off from most exercise, so I figured I may as well get back at it. Plus I could stand to lose a few pounds … preferably before Thanksgiving!

Toenails can take months to grow out. Interestingly, I’ve had very few damaged toenails. Not sure why. It might be because I buy a full size up from street shoes (except Hokas where I just go 1/2 size up).

Thanks for the report Fireandrain! Just saw that there’s an Orange Theory center coming to the town where my gym is located. Right now, the closest OT is farther away. Since there’s a free class coupon/option, I’ll try it and report back.

Class2015: I’ve walked in a number of the 3-day (20-60 mile) breast cancer walks and my toenails are a mess. One has never come back. I just get pedicures and use dark nail polish.

Thanks MOWC and Bromfield2. It’s funny – it’s not the main toe – it’s the ones right next to it. I thought my shoes were the right size but I read somewhere that on long runs (and walks – 60 miles is amazing, Bromfield!) your feet flatten or lengthen. I’ll try the dark nail polish – thanks!

Edit - was announcing a 5 lb party for Sabaray - but now realize the MOWC already did!

8 pounds is a lot! Raising my glass of water to you and blowing my noisemaker!!

Wow, way to go sabaray!!! <:-P Party time!!! Feels like the good old times.

@Classof2015 - my big toes almost never suffered from running. It is the middle guys that would lose their toenails. Moisture in the shoes (sweat, rain, puddles) is a toenail killer. I also do a very refined burgundy nail polish on my toenails… Hides the unsightly mess quite well. I am a big fan of Insta Dri nail polishes from Target because they provide good coverage with minimal fuss.

My knee was bothering me during the run last night but it wasn’t too bad. Now it is mostly just when going downstairs. I will not be doing much running in the near future, just a short run tomorrow night and then not again until Monday. So that should help get it rest. And No, I did not spill the Diet Coke or popcorn when I twisted my knee - that would have been really sad!

sabaray - you’ve lost 8 lbs since the end of October??? That’s a lot in a very short timeframe. You’re a pro at this, so I’m sure you’re doing this in a healthy way. Congratulations, I’ll bet it feels good to have your hard work pay off.

Classof2015 - I lost toenails in each of my first two marathons. First time was the 2nd toe on my left foot and the 2nd time it was the 2nd toe on my right foot. I didn’t get pedicures for a year because I thought it would look silly and draw attention to the missing toenail by having 9 painted toenails and one empty toe. This marathon I fared a little better. The toenail on my 2nd toe on my left foot has turned black, but doesn’t show any signs of coming off. So I’m contemplating getting a pedicure, probably in a dark red / maroon color.
