I made my own yogurt back (way back) in the day. Remember those Dannon yogurt makers with the little milk glass cups? There’s something about making it for yourself…
Yoga today–heated vinyasa (all-levels). New teacher for me–liked her. First day of cleanse–so far so good. No headache from lack of caffeine.
I remember those yogurt makers,MOWC!
MOWC - PM me with your contact info and it’s yours! My wife has had it in the Goodwill pile a couple times and I rescued it. You’ve already saved me $$$ in running advice. Michael on the other hand has pushed my retirement age ahead 2-3 years!
Lol!!!
I ordered and finally received a pair of Nike Free RN Distance running shoes with the flyknit uppers. Will test them vicariously through kiddo. Deliberately ordered the yellow/purple so if her grad school acceptance comes through, she will be accustomed to the colors.
Very cool, Bunsen. Ohio- thanks!
Hey, ohio, I’ve gotta spend someone’s money since I’m no longer allowed into exercise equipment stores unchaperoned ;).
Michael… pssst… there is that thing called the internets…
Haha, and Amazon Prime for next day delivery. And I did get that stainless steel bar!
Hi all! I haven’t made the Instapot yogurt in a few weeks, but I’m sure I will again when my life calms down a bit & I can get into the swing of my new job. My favorite part of making the yogurt was the resulting whey to use in my bread maker - it made such a difference in the bread.
Good to hear from you, Gertrude! Hope your life will be back to normal soon!
When the cat’s away… got a small dumbbell workout in while Mr. is on the road.
Not sure if I will get out hiking today. Ice is everywhere. H and I slid down the road sideways in the car last night in to a snowbank. Thank heavens H is used to driving in bad conditions. If roads clear I may have to head to the gym. Ugh…
Sounds scary, NorthMinn! Having grown up in snow country (Buffalo) I am all too familiar with the sickening feeling of skidding towards something and being grateful it’s not another car (or oncoming traffic). You get a snow pass today.
Freezing rain here also all night. It’s above freezing right now but I’m sure the secondary roads are a mess. All schools in the area are closed.
It was really nice to have a 3 day weekend! Yesterday morning was a 3.3 mile run with Back on My Feet and yesterday evening was a very rainy 3.4 mile run with the running club. Will run again tonight, but I am hoping the rain lets up by then. We haven’t had much snow yet this winter, but we sure have had a lot of rain.
I admire all of you making yogurt! I should probably look into it with as much yogurt as we eat, but I don’t see it happening.
NMinn - it’s so scary when the car starts sliding in the ice and there really isn’t much you can do to get it under control. I hope your weather has improved!
Classof2015 - I’m sure you will rock that half marathon!
Very busy week at work and a big work trip coming up next week. Really ready to retire, but I need to stick it out a few more years.
Thanks C3B! Not feeling that great (sciatica pain) so going to do a “mini taper” close to race day.
Yes very nice to have a 3 day weekend.
Years ago my sister made overnight yogurt in a mason jar: heat milk to 140 F, add culture, pour into mason jar, wrap in towel (to keep it warm). Then she went to thermos yogurt: heat milk, add culture, pour into thermos, wait until morning. Both of them low fuss methods.
Be careful in all the winter weather, y’all. It’s scary. We have 63 degree gloomy rain. I’m heading for Florida Thursday for a long weekend. I really need sun. Tired this morning but managed to plod downstairs for 2.1 on the treadmill.
VERY jealous of the sun and heat. Right now the best I can do is apply some self-tanner to my face while sitting next to the radiator…
Where in FL, MOWC? We’re on the west coast; weather has been great!!! (Apologies to those of you having less than stellar conditions.)
3 mile walk on the beach. More cool shells and a few shark’s teeth. @C3Baker - You asked about the size of the teeth? They vary; most are small, about 1/4 inch? A few are larger and more of a “treasure” – about 1/2 + inch. They’re shiny black; I usually come back with some bits of black that turn out not to be teeth, but I can’t tell until I rinse them off and they dry.
My mother had a Salton Yogurt Maker with the 5 cups. That was quite a while ago before yogurt was really an “in” food. It’s probably stashed in the attic at my father’s house somewhere.
