Long hike this morning in the mountains above Palm Springs. And the best part? No cell phone service. It was so nice to be isolated from the world. I’ll confess to having fantasies right now of hiking the PCT for six months while all the world’s craziness happens without me.
I reluctantly got on the treadmill this evening to finish out my month and amazingly felt good! 6 mile day and 165.1 mile month, which is quite a lot for me.
^^^CRUSHING!
Did detailed review of Peloton on the Peloton thread if anyone is interested.
HS boys track running. Stayed close on 2 of the intervals.300s/600s.
So after a lot of walking in Florida I returned home with a wicked cold. After last summer’s experience I am taking it easy with a lot of rest and liquids. Hopefully I’ll be back at yoga tomorrow.
Speaking of yoga,in Florida I discovered free daily yoga classes on the beach (just a short way from my parent’s place). How cool is that? I didn’t get a chance to participate this time, but will in the future.
Yoga on the beach sounds lovely. I might even like yoga if it was on the beach.
Cross trained yesterday, ran 5.1 miles of hills this morning with the group, barre class this afternoon. Supposed to cool off quite a bit in the coming days. Oh well - it is February after all!
I am not a fun of yoga, but yoga on the beach in FL sounds great, especially when it is below freezing outside. The weather gizmo on my phone is displaying some snowflakes - for the rest of the week. Eeek!
Sooooo … I probably shouldn’t mention we’re still in FL and it’s absolutely gorgeous here? And warm; did I mention warm?
Morning pup walk; beach walk later. My semi-broken Fitbit is very annoying!
I ran 7.15 miles yesterday, bringing my January total to just over 50 miles. That’s a record for me (although not at all close to MOWC).
Still loving my new Apple Watch. I like being able to glance at my wrist and see everything I need to see when I’m running. I know I could have gotten that with various Garmins or other running devices, but this is something that also looks OK and I can wear 24/7. Need to get a different band though.
CBBBlinker – enjoy Florida, you are lucky to be there. I’m also someplace warm today and the next few days – I ran outside yesterday in a tank and shorts while it was snowing back home, and it felt great.
That’s an amazing amount of miles, MOWC! Congrats on keeping the streak alive!
Ran this morning and about half way through my right foot started to hurt (but in a different spot than last time – more in the arch). Now I’m limping
Going to roll it on an ice bottle. I tried on Hokas at the running store but maybe they just didn’t have a good selection because the ones I tested did not offer enough support (I pronate).
Way to go, ohio!
A slow easy 3 mile run last night with the running club. I have a pretty tough week at work this week with an early morning meeting on Friday that will prevent me from running with Back on My Feet. So I went to this morning’s BoMF run instead and had a great 5 mile run. What a great way to start the day!
MOWC - congrats on an incredible January! That is a LOT of miles!
CBBBlinker - I’m glad you’re enjoying such nice weather in Florida!
Thank you. However, one of my goals for this year was to run FEWER miles… I’m not doing so well with that. It’s hard for me to back it down. I have a lot of discussions with myself about it, and it’s one of those “get some in the bank and then back off…” deals. I’m also not doing great on the food front. I just feel anxious about the world and all the negativity on social media and my response is to buy things and eat!
I am looking for an exercise machine that I can use in the privacy of my home. Has anyone used an Aeropilates machine. I live in a condo so I would like something that doesn’t make a lot of noise that would cause disturbance to the neighbors below.

I haven’t used that particular machine but I’ve used commercial reformers at Pilates studios and robust home units. When it comes to reformers, good ones that will hold up over time and provide the resistance and stable movements Reformer work is built upon are going to cost more than the unit in question. I think this is a classic case of you get what you pay for. From the pictures on the website, I don’t think this is a unit that will do what you want or hold up over time. Nothing for nothing, for half the price you can get a TRX that you can hang over a door and get one hell of a workout. And it’s absolutely silent other than your groans of exertion :).
Thanks, I will have to look up TRX.
Got to love the weather this time of year. After work I needed to get busy and make dinner because son and his wife were coming over for dinner. BUT it was 37 or so degrees with a peek of sun so I got dinner to a certain point and literally ran outside to tackle just a quick couple miles (well, “quick”). The sun went away and it started to flurry when I was heading home. In the house a few minutes and saw it was then raining lightly…then, a few minutes later, some teeny tiny ice pellets…few minutes after that HUGE snowflake showers. All this kind of humorous - luckily I was in the house - but I knew S was running from his house - about 5.5 miles away - to our house. Poor kid - he ended up experiencing like three seasons on that run!
Almost bailed. Spinning from 8:39-9:15.
Lots of fun, yeah?
