Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Michael, what a story. You raise some thought provoking points about advocates and health care. I’m so glad your father is back home and you and your family were there in the support seat.

So sorry to hear about your accident, deb922. Thank goodness you weren’t injured but what a hassle with the car.

My husband and I spent our last full day at the beach today, walking. We took my mother to lunch at a local seafood dive where I had some excellent oysters. I don’t eat them often, and I’m always a little paranoid about doing it, but they are really good.

Subaru Outbacks are awesome. I hope your payout covers most of a new car, deb922. That really stinks, but at least everyone is okay.

So sorry about your fall, @1214mom - but at least it was your last day of vacation instead of your first! Hope the flight home isn’t too difficult.

Ouch! Fingers crossed that your return flight will be quick and uneventful.

Oh my gosh, I just read about that fall. Ending up in the ER on vacation is not good!!

@deb922, it certainly didn’t help my restraint that my local bike shop priced the bike for me at 20% above dealer cost. Really made it impossible to resist!

What a month this has been, hospitalizations, car accidents, falls, yeesh. Glad everyone’s coping and dealing with all these travails!

Worked out at home on H’s treadmill. Did a hill climb for 40 minutes. I was supposed to go to Orange Theory this morning, but class was cancelled because of snow. (We got more last night). I will reschedule.

I think H needs a new treadmill. It works okay, but it’s really noisy. Does anyone take old models in for trade or credit. This one is Landice that’s probably 12-13 years old.

Good to hear positive outcomes for M&K Dad, and Deb. What’s PiYo, Sabaray?

Glad no one was hurt, @deb922 . And sorry about that fall @1214mom . Hope you are better soon.

PiYo is a workout put together by a company called Beachbody (no laughing allowed). It is very low impact but I can best describe it as a series of exercise flows that derive from Pilates and yoga with lots of squats and pushups. It is choreographed to music and you are constantly moving - no breaks. There are what I would describe as 6 or 7 sets of exercises followed by a cooldown. Evidently you can do these workouts at home if you pay for their program or you can take live instruction, which I prefer so I can get the corrections I need. I always thought it looked silly and didn’t think it would be effective, but after yesterday I am more convinced of it’s effectiveness as a cardio and strength building routine.

Got out for a quick 3 miles after work, glad to get it done.

Ouch @1214mom ! But all the hiking sounds fun!

Early seminar this morning so did 2.7 on the treadmill. More later. I’m going to miss some hours of steps today due to butt being planted, but I had 5500 steps before 6 am, so there’s that!

My 3rd Alta charger broke. Less than a year. 1 day delivery from FitBit of the new one. They know they have a problem. The plastic is too brittle and fails. I treat it like an egg and still…

My schedule is all wacky this week - was supposed to have training this morning, but my trainer is sick - so I ended up running again, a bit over 5 miles. It was a nice morning, around 30 degrees but no wind. Glad to have it done. Happily feeling pretty good after my weekend warrior workouts!

I wonder how many Fitbits we as a group have gone through collectively.

Mr. B drowned his first one in the ocean, my first Fitbit was chewed up by the tortie (in my avatar), repaired with parts from the drowned Fitbit, and bit the dust… So 4 here, including my lavender/rose gold bling. :slight_smile:

BB = 4
abasket = 4 ( first one issues w/in first week, second one eventually wouldn’t sync, 3rd fell off, on 4th)

I’m still on my first one. I’m still not sure what you all are doing to yours!

Oceans and cats, sabaray! :slight_smile:

I do wear mine 24/7 except when in water.

BB = 2
Mr. B. = 2
abasket = 3
sabaray = 1

:slight_smile:

I’m on my 3rd but none broke- just upgraded/switched.
