I’m so sorry, CD. Sounds like it is all compounding.

CBB- Yes, the charger is made with brittle plastic and fails. It’s a clear design defect and there are a lot of reported issues on the FitBit forums. The unit itself has been great!

Vent away, CD. How frustrating.

Deb, so glad you are okay. I was in an accident back in September. Car ran a red light going fast and hit me hard. I had enough time to think “WTF? The light is red. I am going to get hit” then POW. I was also unhurt, completely and totally unhurt, so that my first thought was not anger but relief and happiness. Thank God for well designed cars in an age of distracted drivers.

We are home and I need to get my lazy butt out to run.

@CountingDown, I wish there was a medical professional that could coordinate all of this for you - how frustrating to be in so much discomfort, so many things going on and trying to manage everything. You need Michael to come be your advocate. Your accident sounds like it could have been much, much worse - so glad it wasn’t.

We have 3 Outbacks. Succumbed initially to the running lifestyle ads I’d see in runners world and wanted to be like the people in the ads! Do like the cars.

Think the next Subaru is going to have the Eyesight safety features like braking/lane assist, etc. As I get older I think these type of safety features are good. My running speed is increasing but driver reaction time is slowing!

My husband is 72 today. I guess that’s older than any of us on this thread. I’m so glad he’s athletic and healthy. I’m very grateful for that and don’t take it for granted. He and I are both slowing down, but we’re still out there! He rides his bike (a lot) except for about November-March and runs during those months. He has a 2:39 marathon in his past and we met while we both worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas and were on the national corporate running team. Lots of ups and downs in our life/marriage, but we’re still kicking! My kids have really grown to appreciate our activity level and health in recent years as they see other people our age in their careers/lives. When they were younger I think they just thought it was the way everyone was.

Happy Birthday H-MOWC! He sounds like a great guy.

Happy birthday to your H MOWC! - We REALLY need to get rid of numbers as we get older - we should just be able to wake up and say, “Today I feel like I’m 38 - so that’s the age I’m going with!”

I really have a mental “age” problem. There is only so much you can control. But I HATE thinking of those numbers and looking too far ahead…!

Back from vacation and catching up. Deb that is scary! I have nightmares of skidding from my days driving in bad weather like that. 1214mom – hope you got seen right away. What a pain (literally)! Happy Birthday to your hubby, MOWC. Aquarius. That’s some awesome fast marathon time! I hope fiancé and I are still going strong at 72.

Happy bday to your hubs mowc!

My accident was nothing compared to @CountingDown, we are fine. We are in shock that the car was damaged so badly. Thanks @ohiopublic I will look into the lane assist. My D hated that feature buts she’s young and flexible!

I wish I could figure out how to post the link. But the ski hill near me posted a video of a 106 year old gentleman skiing! He wasn’t fast but 106! What a hero

I like that way of thinking, @abasket - and truthfully, I feel much better now at 53 than I did at 43 or 33 for that matter. Let’s hope that trend continues.

I left work a bit early yesterday and Mr. Sabaray and I took the dogs to the park. They were shocked - usually that’s a weekend only activity, but they had a great time. Mr. Sabaray had the day off yesterday and actually went to the gym and actually exercised! I cooked two filets and we had those and a big salad for dinner (and the obligatory glass of heart-healthy red wine). Today will be Barre class.

Happy Birthday to MOWC H! I turn 60 in a few months and love hearing about people staying active as our age numbers increase.

3 mile treadmill run and then the elevators at work were so slow I just walked up the 11 floors.

Way to go FallGirl. I’ve been doing the 7 floors at my one office a couple times a week - while it’s getting easier by the time I get to floor 5 or so I’m ready to be done! Just did them before 10am (had to get my 250 steps before 10!) and part way up I met our new department admin person coming down the stairs - I figure I either impressed him climbing those stairs or now he thinks I’m a middle age nut!

Waking up on the west coast here…

Happy birthday to your husband, MOfWC! Hope Mr. B will grow up to be like him.

Thanks, all. We actually like some things about the age number- especially when it involves moving into a new age group like my upcoming September birthday!

3.1 outside this morning. My legs were really tired and I wanted to quit. I think I push it a little on the treadmill (in haste to get it over with) and it takes a toll…

Got my new Alta charger yesterday. My daughter tells me I charge it too much. She hasn’t broken one yet. I have too much battery anxiety, I guess.

Deb922, I am so sorry about your accident (I think I mixed you up with 1214mom?). Glad you are OK.

MOWC, happy bday to your H!

Finally got to talk to Dr. D’s medical asst this am and they have moved me up to 12:30 on Friday and told me to take it easy. DH and I go pick up the new car this afternoon and have to return the rental by close of business. Thin k I will be in a recliner the rest of the day after that. Am really feeling cruddy.

If I could find a doc who could coordinate all of my medical issues, I would be THRILLED. Everyone is leery of stepping on to someone else’s turf. My primary internist went to a concierge practice in November and I followed him, but while he is a marathon runner (with two hip replacements) and has done six coast-to-coast bike rides, he still sends me off to a specialist.

My onc told me she has a colleague who has developed a specialty in monitoring cardiac effects from the drugs that I’m on my leukemia, and I am going to see her on a consulting basis. She and the onc are in Baltimore. I have found a new cardio who’s affiliated with the local hospital near me (and two of her colleagues worked on me when I had the full arrest).

My previous cardiologist left her practice in September, said to Google her in January to see where she’d be, but she has ghosted. Noone knows where she went. Have been looking for her since December. In the meantime, my cholesterol has doubled in the past six months from 118 to 244 (she took me off the statins in September to see if it helped the joint pain), and I can’t wait any longer for her.

And despite all my grousing, I am very happy and humbled to still be here.

Fitness devices: 2 – a Garmin Vivosmart and a Samsung GearFit. Both still work, which surprises me because the Vivofit battery was only supposed to last a year. It’s been 2.5. I wear the GearFit now, as it has more useful bells and whistles.

Good luck, Counting Down. Vent if you need to do so–this is the perfect place.

Rest day for me today. My older D is going to be in Boston for work and I’m getting her from the airport this afternoon!

Did go run and then swim. Getting back into the swing of things. If I can just by pass the Valentines Day candy on sale…

^ and let’s not forget about the GS cookies, sheesh! Since Superbowl Sunday, it’s been non-stop. Like the Titanic, diet and fitness is going down. Sorry to hear about accident/injuries, stay healthy all!

I think I have successfully weaned myself off sugar. I ate a cake pop at work yesterday and did not enjoy it. Too sweet. Tossed it after one bite even though it came from a fancy bakery. Otoh, the plate of fruit someone thoughtfully bought to diversify out V-Day treats got my full attention! Melons and oranges and strawberries - yum.

@deb922 – airbags should only go off at greater than 12 mph, so that may be why yours didn’t.

@MomofWildChild – happy birthday to your H.

After a glorious sunny weekend here, it’s raining again. Oh well, better than snow. Ran 3.7 with the dog, both yesterday and today. After my flat runs on vacation, the hills are hard.
