Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

One of my fitness inspirations has always been my dad. I may have posted this before, but until recently dad worked out at the gym several times a week, walked a lot and golfed. This was in his 80’s and with heart disease and stage 4 prostate CA. I think his quality of life was much enhanced by his regular fitness activity as well as his positive attitude.
I’m sad to report that he passed away last Sunday. He will always remain such a great inspiration to me.

@FallGirl, I’m very sorry for your loss. It’s great that he was such an inspiration to you.

I’m so sorry, FallGirl. Prayers for you and your family. I’m glad he was such a great inspiration. You will have that forever.

I am so sorry, @FallGirl.

My deepest condolences @FallGirl. Your father sounds like someone we all would have enjoyed meeting in person.

FallGirl. Your father is an inspiration to all of us

Oh @FallGirl I remember you talking about him and his regimen with pride. I’m so sorry to hear this news. His spirit clearly lives in you and your dedication now to your own regimen. Hugs to you and your family.

So sorry for your loss FallGirl. Take care.

That is so sad, FallGirl. I am so sorry for your pain. :frowning:

Words can’t express how sorry I am to read this. How blessed you were to have such a wonderful father for so long. Big hugs.

@FallGirl I’m sending you double good vibes today - for the loss of your dad and for him to inspire you if you are still able to participate in Avon 39 this weekend. Thinking of you all ways this weekend!

Oh gosh, @FallGirl , I am so sorry to hear about your father. I will be thinking of you.

So so sorry @FallGirl. Keeping you in my thoughts today.

@FallGirl – very sorry to hear about your loss – my thoughts go out to you and your runner D. He must have been an inspiration to both of you.

@FallGirl So sorry to hear about your Dad. He sounded like a great person. Hugs.

Adding my condolences, @FallGirl. Losing a parent is so difficult.

40 minutes on the Arc + weights. I haven’t been doing weights for a while, so I’m sure I’ll be sore for a while as I get back into it …

Getting older is tough all the way around.

I was very glad to not be running this morning. Flood warnings thanks to the torrential downpours overnight. Still raining this morning as I headed off to Pilates. I just love my trainer. She comes up with good workouts and is fun to be with. I’d been feeling frustrated with my performance during workouts lately and realized today it was in large part due to the fact I was arriving to each session exhausted from running. Today I was tired but not as tired as I’ve been previously and it went much better. I don’t need to run 30 miles a week every week.

I don’t know how you get through Pilates after running! Or running after Pilates! You are my cross training hero. I hope your bad weather moves on soon. It’s grey and drizzly here and I hate it. I guess the worst of the flooding happened last weekend while I was up in PA.

Condolences on your loss, @FallGirl. I lost my father at 65 in part because he was a dedicated, card-carrying couch potato. I try to do better so I will be around in my 80’s.

I realized this past weekend I need to be smarter about what I’m doing. I look at MOWC’s running mileage and Ohio’s track workouts and think I should be doing that - um, no. Not coupled with everything else. This week my running mileage will be about 17 miles with three runs. I did a private Pilates, a TRX/Pilates combo, a stretch class and a mat class. No doubling up, one workout a day. Tomorrow is a rest day. I’ve been vigilant about my diet, cutting carb intake for most of the week, and have lost another pound. I felt so terrible last weekend and really, for most of the week that I realized something had to change. I guess it’s just difficult for me to evaluate what a “normal” exercise routine is!
