Yes, that was great customer service.
@abasket, I am feeling the need for something with long sleeves, given the wind and freezing temps. But I have been addicted to the Athleta site lately, so I May just hold off for a little while.
Now I’m worried about an Athleta shipment. They say it was delivered yesterday, but I can’t find it. Hopefully it will show up Monday. With all the wind we’ve had I actually hunted around for it in our yard, but so far nothing. Usually they deliver bags to my mailbox. Fingers crossed it shows up - it was Capri pants in 2 sizes, and they have probably sold out by now.

@threeofthree Don’t know whether u have wholefoods near u, I get my grass fed beef from there and I often see people buy bones from them. I have not done beef stocks but do organic chicken stocks often.

@makemesmart - we do have a Whole Foods sort of nearby but Sprouts and Earthfare in my immediate neighborhood. I emailed our butcher and he does get grassfed bones so I’m going to have my husband pick some up next time he runs by there. I have not had good luck w/ grassfed beef, seems too chewy unless aged for a long time so I don’t buy that kind of beef.

Hope you find that bag @1214mom ! Not ok to lose an Athleta bag!!! I just got a GREAT fleece jacket and pair of 7/8 tights from their sale yesterday - really happy. The tights are quite cute - I think I actually might keep them to wear and NOT get sweaty in!

Good advice!

Thanks @BunsenBurner . Good article.

One of my few resolutions is to stop eating the candy (hard candy, basically sugar and dye) from the office candy dish. Zero nutrition, not filling and just adding sugar and calories I don’t want/need. So far I have been good so hopefully am on my way to breaking the habit.

@BunsenBurner – I have to laugh – “you are not a Bunsen Burner” in the article. Still reading – thanks!

@FallGirl

There is a hard candy dish where I work as well. It’s one of those dishes with lots of different kinds of European hard candies. My brain is often telling me to take a little break, walk over to the candy, poke through the punch bowl sized dish looking for my favorites, contemplate all the good choices, and pick one to eat.

Repeat several times when I “need a break” or distraction.

It’s the whole routine that lights up the reward circuits in my head. I’ve thought about trying to replace it…maybe with a hot tea ritual?

I like that trick with the rice to cut the calories. I have been trying to do meal prep on Sundays, so am going to try it out this week.

Candy is really tough - our office has a huge container of candy at all times at the insistence of one partner. He could stand to lose a few! You’re right though - sugar and dye you don’t need.

I tried out a Tabata style class this morning. I noticed as I amped up my running mileage my weight loss stalled, so I really think for me, at least, some type of high intensity workout is important. This was really difficult, but fun. We did a TRX warmup and some strength moves, then moved to a 30 minute circuit. 45 seconds of work, 20 seconds of rest. I kept telling myself I could do anything for 45 seconds. I’m going to mix up my workouts next week , try to shock my body again. You need a change every once in a while.

I like nuts as a replacement for candy.

I do hot tea breaks! I swear I drank all of the camomile tea in the lunchroom. Our office is pretty good at keeping junk to the minimum, but one of our ladies has been unloading the leftover holiday fudge and candy she made… trays of it!

On the healthy eating front, I found this recipe online – if you skip the cheese it’s quite low fat (and delicious! DH said to add it to the lineup). Plus I could make it with stuff I already had. Always a plus.

Local Fox News channel ran a segment on what folks should have in their pantry instead of the “white stuff” (pasta, rice, flour, etc):

  1. Kodiak Cakes pancake mix
  2. Quinoa
  3. Canned chicken and tuna
  4. Beans
  5. Kind bars

Yay!!! I 100% agree! My pantry gets an A+ from them.

I have most of things most of the time…but also along with having them you need to remember to USE them!! Haha - @Classof2015 that recipe looks delicious - I’d want to keep some of the cheese - I pinned it but will have to make it when others are here - H would not touch it with the artichokes. :frowning:

@BunsenBurner - I love that list! I’ve got to see if I can find the pancake mix- I know there are several fans here of it.

@abasket - too bad he doesn’t like artichokes! I made it again but with hearts of Palm - probably same aversion, right?

Cold here but sunny. Nice 5 mile easy run. Time for new shoes. These have no more spring left.

We find Kodiak at Costco (actually on sale this month for a BIG box!) and at Meijer which is a big box grocery store - my guess is you’ll find them somewhere!

H has an aversion to any food out of the ordinary or any vegetable out of the ordinary - besides asparagus - he will eat that roasted or steamed! We are SO opposite!

I don’t think I’d have much self-control with pancakes, healthier versions or not. My weakness is baked goods.

Our kitchen basics are coffee, bubbly water, frozen blueberries, plain yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, rice, baking potatoes, and salsa.

I like them all, & I won’t over-eat any of them. But yes, boring.

I can overeat hard-boiled eggs easily! With avocado and salt and a dash of red pepper flakes… mmm.

Our kitchen basics are similar to @Midwest67. H has been traveling a lot and being empty nesters there is not a lot of cooking going on here during the week.

I’ve been down with a cold for a few days but hoping to get active again tomorrow. I have the day off and a good deal from Road Runners so I’m planning to get over there and buy some new running shoes.

My refrigerator basics run dairy heavy. Whole milk plain yogurt, stack of Noosa containers, cottage cheese, milk, half and half, sour cream, eggs, lots of cheeses!
