None. Compression anything doesn’t need undies. .
I wear Oiselle Lux undies under tights/capris. Lululemon also has some good underwear.
For long hikes and runs, I wear… drumroll… one of my very very old pairs of Natori undies. They have attained such incredible softness that they blend with the skin.
I treasure those undies.
I wear my regular underwear. I do have a very old pair that I wear in races because they are my “lucky” pair.
^ha! I love that, FallGirl! For races, I wear my lucky fake diamond stud earrings. If I end up in the medical tent, I want to look Classy
For a variety of reasons, I’m struggling with eating meat right now. I’d welcome any suggestions to make tofu palatable or recommendations for preparing tempeh or seitan. I find I do better with meals during the week if I spend Sunday doing meal prep. So, I prepared chia seed pudding, steel cut oats, baked sweet potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts, and quinoa with black beans, tomato and corn. I am struggling with an injury too - boot and crutches - so I need ideas for things that can be reheated when Mr. Sabaray isn’t around!
Oh no! Does that include fish, too? Eggs? Do you eat beans? I am not a tofu whiz, so I hide it in eggs or put sauces on it. Taco seasoning or chili seasoning give it flavor.
I have been making Mark Bittman’s recipe for salmon cooked in butter and varying the seasonings, but it’s getting old. I do eat beans and eggs. Life events have significantly impacted my appetite and I’m hoping it’s temporary. I’ve gotten some good suggestions like stuffed peppers using ground turkey and cauliflower rice but I need to think of some protein options other than the norm. My problem is I do like tofu but the preparations I like aren’t the healthiest. Mr. Sabaray is making his best effort to cook, but let’s just say it’s not his strongest skill set!
When the kids were wee and I was cooking more, we would often use the cookbook Moosewood Restaurant Cooks At Home: Fast & Easy Recipes for Any Day.
And, during our vegetarian phase, we preferred packages of marinated baked tofu (firm), which we could dice and add to dishes. I never developed a taste for tempeh or seitan, so can’t help you there.
My quick and easy meal here is a diced baked potato, add some steamed frozen veggies, a couple hard-boiled eggs and spicy salsa.
Wishing you speedy healing!
The first thing that comes to mind, for an alternative protein, is hemp seed. I tend to add it to yogurt, cream of wheat, oatmeal, pancake-in-cup at breakfast. Also, mushrooms, I tend to add them to omlettes.
I do not like the texture of tofu but I like it either pan-fried or in a pad Thai kind of dish. That said, I like plain tofu with spicy sauce served at our sushi chain Blue C. I think sauces make a huge difference for things like tofu.
I have hemp hearts. That’s a great idea to add them instead of struggling with alternatives. I eat a lot of mushrooms but right now I am dependent upon Mr. Sabaray to go to the store and he doesn’t understand that all mushrooms are not equal. Sauces make a huge difference, that’s for sure. This has kick started my weight loss again but not in a good way!
I use a Paleo meal service, but since you’re having trouble with meat right now, it’s not what you need at the moment.
Tom Brady has a plant-based meal delivery service called PurpleCarrot (.com), and I’ve thought about trying it, but I don’t want to have to cook it. And it sounds like you don’t want that either.
Maybe there are others out there like it, but they’re already pre-made? I haven’t found it.
My Pilates instructor loves Purple Carrot and it is on the list to try - once I can lose my crutches. You save $25 off your first order unless you’re ordering the “performance meals” which aren’t always more appealing. I don’t mind cooking, it’s just a challenge to assemble everything without use of your arms/hands which are otherwise occupied. Oh well, gives me an opportunity to work on nutrition issues instead of running issues.
I’m coming to the experts for advice
I’ve worn ASICS gel kayano shoes for years. I’m not a runner - I want a lot and use them at the gym. I see some Hokas on the front of the roadrunner sports ad I just got that look cool. Are they known as stability shoes? Would they be overkill for what I do? I will get advice from roadrunner, but figured I’d ask here too.
TIA
We’ve had a couple weeks of Purple Carrot, and while we have enjoyed the meals, some have been very high in fat and calories (for example, nearly 1000 calories for the eggplant falafel meal - almost twice the calories I would typically eat for dinner as a woman trying to lose a pound a week). As an experienced cook, I have been able to modify recipes to make them fit my plan, but the recipes do not offer suggestions for how to do this.
One of the meal boxes has whole 30 meals. I know that when my sil wanted to eat less meat, she signed up for vegetarian meals (I think she uses Hello Fresh). She’s been really happy, getting ideas of how to cook vegetarian.
@yauponredux Wow, I just looked at the recipe. 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil and one tablespoon of sesame oil and naan. I’m not in a lose weight mode, so when you mentioned the 1,000 calories, that didn’t bother me as much per se. But after looking at the receipe, where the calories are coming from does bother me.
@sabaray What has become quite popular in my area is the Poke Bowl business. But you seem to eating much of what goes into these bowls. For instance, our local Safeway has all sorts of raw fish (tuna, salmon, shrimp, fish roe, etc.) and then they put into a bowl with a bunch of other ingredients you choose. I will typically have them throw in quinoa (instead of rice), edamame and veges. And you take them to go.
@sabaray My husband and I switched to a low fat plant based diet in July. It was a surprisingly easy transition, though we weren’t heavy meat eaters before, having relied mostly on fish for protein. While I do sometimes make meals that take a bit of time, like veggie burgers/veggie loaves, most of our meals are made in one pot - veggie chili, lentil bolognese (with zucchini noodles or chickpea pasts), and veggie soups blended with beans. Tonight I’m making a red lentil curry with kabocha squash and cauliflower. I love tofu too and will marinate it in coconut aminos or soy and bake it in cubes to use in stir fries or with soba noodles and veggies. Just use your imagination in ways to use beans, lentils or tofu to replace meat in whatever you’d normally eat! Also, we never use oil in our cooking. I stir fry and saute with water or broth, and replace oil in baking with applesauce. It keeps the fat and calories down.
There are many, many Hoka models. I would strongly recommend Hoka as a walking shoe. I have recommended them to many people who have thanked me profusely. Hoka has just released about 4 new models which purport to be a gym/running shoe line and I don’t know much about them. Arahi is the stability model and Clifton is a lighter weight model. Both would be great as a walking/casual shoe. I also like Bondi, but that is a little more shoe.
If you order from Roadrunner, which I do all the time, make sure you check the coupon sites online for additional offers/discounts.
