CC is filled with people giving advice. Are you going to go through every thread to find posts that violate your belief that nothing should be posted with certainty?

A 16 y/o left to fend for himself in some structure without plumbing behind a main house is far different from a scenario where a 16 y/o lives with another family for a year or two to remain in their school. Very different. I stand by my original statement. And I also believe you are wrong to criticize posters for posting something “with such certainty.” This is a board for adults, and people can make their own decisions about whether or not something makes sense.

momofthreeboys, I’m with you. Since the son is a friend, I’d ask him to invite the boy over to my house for regular dinners and overnights. If the boy seems open to it, from there I’d try to make contact with the parent and offer myself as a resource to her and her son. It may turn out that she has already made sure that her son is well connected in the community and that the living arrangement they’ve chosen is best for everyone.
