<p>Just curious: was this rejection letter in the mail, or was it an email? My daughter applied last year and never heard anything at all back. I’ve since wondered whether she received an email that died, unread, in her spam folder as shee never (used to) check there (but occasionally does now). </p>

<p>Not hearing anything put her off applying for other scholarships for a long time. It is hard - especially for the juniors in a contest that is aimed, in part, towards applicants who have struggled in one fashion or another – two factors that may make some applicants a bit more vulnerable. And, of course, the odds are so long anyway. Oh well.</p>

<p>Congratulations to those who won and good luck for next year for everyone.</p>

<p>Wow, this is weird: I got a letter in the mail on saturday with a certificate that said i won a state scholarship, but then i got the rejection email today… i responded to the email, so maybe that will clear some things up…</p>
