Distinguishing yourself

Besides the interview and general application procedures, what else can you do to increase your chance of acceptance, is it possible to observe a class at Princeton?

Yes, definitely observing a class at Princeton will make you stand out. Definitely professors know all the students in their class and can pinpoint exactly the outstanding high school student who observes once, which will of course lead to an increased chance of acceptance. Makes perfect sense to me.

That sounds great! So how do you go about scheduling the observation, do you “shadow” another student, etc…?

^ No need to schedule or shadow. If you have the Princeon glow they will see it. Done deal.

This is quite possibly the funniest thread I have ever had the good fortune of reading

Awwwwww… :)

It’s cute…

Poor guy 10char

Lol the dream thread.

Well played newb and sherpa…

On on a more serious note: observing a class at Princeton is next to useless. On your other query:“what else can you do to increase your chance of acceptance”

What you can do to improve has already been done. There are no more magic bullets or golden tickets to be had from here on out. Your achievements, your GPA, your SATs, your character of being a true scholar and student leader – you already ARE one of these or you AREN’T.

Now, it’s just time to assemble your application and hope putting your best foot forward is good enough to catch a reader’s attention. Certainly posting requests for helpful hints on CC is straw grasping

For the record, I live about a half hour away from Princeton, so I have easy access to the university, hence why I brought up the “observing a class” idea.

T26E4: I appreciate your bluntness, but in all honesty, I’ve been around Princeton since age 5, and I think I would know that sometimes you have to go the extra mile to make an impression BEYOND THE INTERVIEW OR APPLICATION PROCESS. FURTHERMORE, College Confidential is a place where people should be comfortable asking questions, and not feel intimidated whatsoever. That is all.

Thank you andrewm for keeping a positive attitude and reminding us all what college confidential is supposed to be about! We all have the right to ask questions and have them answered in a mature and respectful manner!!! (ahem idiosyncra3y, viviste, impetuous, kameronsmith, littleinjun42)- you were very rude, get some manners! Andrewm- keep it up!!!

Sorry idiosyncra3y–i got carried away. I was very frustrated with the other posters. However, the other posters need to learn some manners- my mother would be ashamed to have raised a child like that.

…wow.

I’m sorry, but when I see a post that I think is rude, I feel the need to call the person out. AndrewM asked a legitimate question. This thread could really help some other prospective Princeton students. I don’t mean to offend anyone, but I call it like I see it.

Flutegirl raises a valid point, it’s people like her that should work in college admissions! :)

I would admit andrewm to my college any day of the week!!!

Maybe I should apply to your college then!

Good for the two of you. Go to the college of happiness and dreams and don’t apply to Princeton.
